6. No intentions of coming

Chapter 6

****

Lex's Pov

My Father was discussing business on my wedding day, he didn't give a damn about anything but the progress of the Parliament in the country and the success of the pack even though I burn in shreds.

This marriage was purely business, Lilia was business and I was probably business to him in every aspect. New York was a fortress for him to explore his greed, expanding his affiliates and merging Midnight Shade with other Packs to secure more power and Territories.

I needed a Luna to strengthen the agreement he just had with the President of Russia who was a wolf in disguise.

We were dealing with the humans so it's wise not to reveal our true Identities or we'll be thrown out of the city through their technical means.

My Pack was on the Northern border of New York which made it easier for my Dad to expand his territories using the Pack council and top members of the Pack.

This marriage was a canyon to prove to the President of Russia that I could sign the legal documents needed for merging their company with ours and while we dealt with the affairs of the state and country, the Blue Moon rituals were approaching.

It was a fortifying period that happens annually where we get to cleanse the Pack of all Infirmities made with blood, guile, evil declarations, and pronouncements and offer our appraisal to the moon Goddess. Doing this act every year guarantees the success of the Full moon, we get our fated mates success and get huge deals like never before. I would owe my father's success to this rite because he never misses it.

I won't be allowed to sit on the throne of Midnight Shade without a Luna as I would clock 30 years on that day when the required age an Alpha should have his Luna was 27. I was spared all this while because of the drastic event that took place which I've buried deep in my heart, never to be awakened.

"Get this done and deal with the shifters causing havoc in Brooklyn, I have a conference and I don't want a mess. Not a single wolf should attend the conference." He addressed his P. A who nodded and I was there, standing and twitching my lips in patience in my white Tux and dark tie all ready for business.

"Getting married to Tyson's daughter is a wise move, Lex, he's the Prime Minister connected to other countries too. I think it would also strengthen our bond with the White Crisps since he's a member of the Pack. Just don't forget the rules and break them, Midnight Shade can be scary and I can't help it." He told me, warning me not to let my guard down.

We had so many secrets to hide about our Pack which was a toll on me being the Alpha, I needed to protect, destroy, and make a lot of money for my ever-greedy father and the Pack. We had a lot of rules in regarding our personality and duties.

But all of that would change once I get married today, I'll control what I need to control and earn my stuff without any nitpicky attitude from him.

"I get it, can we go to the wedding venue now? We are two hours late!" I told my father and Xander growled in response to that. He hated my father's gut and I did too.

I didn't grow up in a family of love bullshit and warm hugs. My mother was the only one who tried to be there as long as her Luna duties didn't interfere coupled with being the First Lady of the country. My dad was only concerned with making power and fame for himself since his mate passed away. Mum was just there to fulfill her duties as a wife and Luna.

I couldn't blame him, all these were strategies to keep himself distracted.

"Go on, I'll be there before you turn. I'll make the aviator fly me over." He replied and I couldn't help but release a snort. So much for causing a scene at the arrival of the President.

I walked out to the White Porsche car waiting for me and Raven followed behind me, looking as strict, smart, and handsome as ever. Felix was already in the car and I groaned.

"You don't get to sit with the groom Felix! Get out and take your car." I told him, resting my head on the soft fabric of the chair and he scoffed.

"I ain't going anywhere without my brother, let's go already. I can't believe Dad's shitty activity had to delay you this way." He commented and I nodded, glancing at Raven who didn't say a word. My ever grumpy Beta.

"Have you met Lilia from somewhere before?" I couldn't help but ask my brother who frowned deeply and shrugged.

"Of course I do, she's Tyson Conor's daughter. Why won't I know her?"

"That's not what I meant, I was –" I paused, feeling irritated that I was even discussing about her.

I even felt awful that I couldn't push away the thought of our night together which was strange. I released a shaky breath as images flashed in my head again at how I had ripped her red lacy thong and savored her warm tightness clamped around my dick. I remembered the feel of her nails on my skin at every sweet thrust I gave to her and her perfect tits that bounced at every–

'Alexander!'

My wolf growled at me and I cursed, feeling hot embarrassment.

'Continue thinking like that and I'll make sure we fuck her again.' He warned and I shook my head to shake away the feeling. That was never going to happen again.

I saw the way she looked at Felix before she left, a face filled with fury and her scent was off.

"Forget about it," I told Felix who nodded uncomfortably.

It doesn't matter if he knows her or not, I'm getting married for my Pack's sake. I want the Blue Moon Ritual to be a success and I also want to merge other Packs, My business is there too; totally out of my father's reach and it needs to be expanded.

A lot was on my plate and thinking about a lady's effect on me would be the last thing I'll do.

We reached the venue and were surprised at the crowd in the Hall. The air was crisp and the aura it gave was peaceful. It was set and decorated in a fantasy setting that was too beautiful to be true, the floor was like a smooth green grass with lots of greenery and little flowers– like vines and floral accents that circulated the whole place, and colored candles, and lanterns were lined in array in the dim hall with high elegant chandeliers.

It was so fucking perfect that I remembered what I'm not supposed to remember which brought out buried emotions in me.

Felix found his way into the line of crowds to secure a seat and my father chose that moment to steal a show.

The personalities in this room made me confirm that we were here for the mercenary that comes with this Union and I sighed. I would benefit from this too, so there's no big deal.

My dad dressed in his impeccable dark suit, draped his arm around mine and I fought the urge to roll my eyes, however at every step I took to the Altar, I noticed the worried faces of the bride's parents.

I glanced at Selina whose face was buried with her phone and she was gone, looking around.

We were two hours and thirty minutes late, shouldn't the bride be here?

I know it's abnormal for a bride to wait for the groom but Fuck protocols!!

She's supposed to be here.

My jaw ticked in a very tight clench as I stared around the hall again but couldn't even catch a whim of her scent.

'Are you thinking I'm what I'm thinking?'

Xander growled at me and the realization struck me hard like a volcano as I released the grip from my father's arm

My bride wasn't present, or maybe she had no intentions of coming at all.
