CHAPTER 44~ A FAE

Sathe woke up wrapped in Verya’s silver fur as well as the redolence of her scent. It was comforting, after spending two days away from her, waking up in her scent was a privilege to him.

But regardless of that, he had to leave again…

He sat up, turning to stare at her. It was dark out, and the cold breeze swept across his bare skin like hands: harsh and cold, but despite being in her wolf form, Verya seemed to be suffering from it more than him.

She was shaking, and even in her sleep, her teeth were chattering. He didn’t think she was fine, she didn’t at all look fine.

His hand reluctantly reached for her, but he stopped before he could touch her. He had been thinking of using this opportunity to get away without her knowing, but if he woke her up, he’d lose it, wouldn’t he? She’d stop him, he knew, only a couple of words from her could persuade him.

But how could he leave when she was like this?

Sighing, he shook her awake. “Verya, are you okay?”
