Stella Voss is 21, fierce, and done playing nice. She came home to make her cruel stepbrother Kane Blackthorn — the 26-year-old cursed alpha — pay for every scar he gave her. But fate is a vicious bitch. The moment the full moon hits, the mate bond ignites between them. Now the man who can’t get hard for anyone else is forced to watch his greatest enemy tease him mercilessly… and he’s helpless to resist because…. The Alpha can’t get hard for anyone… except the girl he hates most. She wears nothing under sundresses. She grinds against him in the dark while her mother sits nearby. She records him desperate and aching… then makes him beg. Every filthy tease, every stolen touch, every heat-soaked night pushes them closer to breaking. Hate has never burned hotter. Revenge has never tasted so sweet. Because in this pack, rejecting your mate is pure agony. And claiming her might just turn their curse into obsession. Stepbrother. Enemy. Fated Mate. How long when this cursed alpha finally snaps? He won’t just claim her — he’ll knot her, breed her, and ruin her for anyone else. Stepbrother. Enemy. Mate. Let the torment begin.

I shivered like a drowned cat on that stupid curb with rain slamming down so hard it felt personal. New York weather flipped on a dime the moment my plane wheels hit the ground- cold and mean.
My jacket was useless and soaked through, clinging to every inch of me. I was not supposed to be standing with my suitcase wheels stuck in a puddle.
That fucking asshole.
Mom swore he’d be waiting. Of course not.
My Fucking Stepbrother, Kane Blackwood had been a thorn twisting in my side since I was a kid. I’d lived my entire life in Paris with Dad after his divorce with mom and well, Mom wasn’t stable, and had no real setup so eventually, Dad took me in without hesitation, and I loved him for it.
He was my everything- patient, present and pouring all his time into me when she couldn’t. He never even remarried. Just us. Maybe his steady love is why I drifted so far from her.
After the split, she remarried, settled in New York with her new husband and his son. Everyone moved on and even I didn’t reach out much. One big reason? Her stepson, Kane Blackthorn. That ugly dog.
During one of Mom’s attempts to reconnect, she left us alone in my room. He smashed my most cherished doll collection- cracked their tiny porcelain faces and ripped their dresses.
I attacked him and scratched his arms, drawing blood. We’d hated each other since, even with oceans between us.
Dad passed away three years ago. It wrecked me hard. Grief swallowed everything. Mom tried nonstop to pull me here- calls, letters, visits. I finally caved. Now, drenched and freezing, second thoughts crashed over me like the rain. Why did I come?
I cursed Kane under my breath, pacing the curb. “Useless prick. Can’t even do this one thing.”
Suddenly, headlights sliced through the sheets of rain and a sleek car stopped sharp. Immediately the door swung open and I had already readied a string of curses- until the guy stepped out. Brown hair, not black. No arrogance pouring off him like cheap cologne.
He looked sorry, actually. “I am so sorry for getting late, Stella,” he said, voice cutting through the downpour. I frowned with water streaming down my face. “How do you know my name?”
He took my suitcase and duffel without waiting, and opened the passenger door. “Ethan. Kane’s best friend and beta.” I climbed in, too cold to argue. He settled in the driver’s seat and cranked the heat high, watching me shake.
“Traffic was brutal,” he added. “Apologies again.”
I sighed, rubbing my arms as warmth slowly seeped in. Feeling bad he kept owning the delay. “It’s fine. Not your fault.” Conversation stayed light after that- him muttering about the rain, me nodding along.
Ethan revealed that Kane gave him the wrong time on purpose. My fists clenched as revenge ideas started forming already while I stayed quiet for the rest of the drive.
The mansion rose up soon, huge and glowing. I stepped out with my stiff legs and there they were. Mom, my Stepfather- Richard. And him. Kane. Smirk plastered on his face the second our eyes met and my blood heated despite the chill.
Mom gasped. “Stella! Honey, you’re completely drenched. What happened to you?” Ethan dipped his head respectfully to Richard. “Got stuck in traffic, sir. Sorry for the holdup.”
Richard’s look sharpened, clearly probing if that was the full story. Mom wrapped me in an emotional hug, her arms tight like she feared I’d vanish. It felt awkward as hell. We weren’t close. Years of distance sat heavy between us. “I’ve waited so long for this,” she whispered.
Richard smiled, warm but steady, and gave me a side hug. “Welcome, Stella. This is home now. Let’s get you inside quickly so you don’t catch a cold.”
They guided me in and mom dashed off. “I’ll get a towel for you! Stay right there.”
The foyer was warm, fancy, but my eyes kept sliding to Kane. He was leaning against the wall and watched me, intense, unblinking. I rolled my eyes and looked away, trying to ignore him completely.
“Kane,” Richard said, tone loaded with warning like- be polite, don’t pull any asshole moves. “Did you greet Stella?”
Kane snarled low, stepping close with hands shoved in his pockets. I tilted my chin up, meeting that stare full force. He thought his tall, huge figure could intimidate me but fuck off- I was not scared.
He slowly bent forward and leaned his face close to stay inches away from me. I could feel his hot breath fanning me but I refused to back away.
“Welcome to hell,” he said, voice rough and low.
I smirked because…. Indeed I was in hell. But this hell wasn't gonna burn me but… someone else and I was going to make sure of that.
STELLAI stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down the stunning red strapless dress that hugged every curve like it was made for trouble. Short enough to turn heads and bold enough to feel powerful. I straightened my long black hair until it fell sleek, then curled the ends into loose waves that bounced when I moved. Minimal makeup- just enough to make my eyes pop and lips shine. Damn, I looked stunning. Dangerous. Ready to play the game I’d planned.“Stella! We’re leaving soon!” Mom called from downstairs.I stepped out, heels clicking, and headed for the stairs. Halfway down, I bumped straight into a solid figure. Kane Blackthorn. Black suit fitted sharp with top two buttons undone showing a hint of muscular chiseled chest and hair styled back. He looked good. Really good but I wasn’t going to admit now, was I? I rolled my eyes and tried to slip past to reach first but…. He tripped me deliberately. My foot caught, eyes widening in panic as I realized I was about to tumble dow
STELLAI couldn’t sleep worth a damn. I tossed and turned for hours and sheets twisted around my legs like they were trying to trap me. Every time I closed my eyes, the nightmare hit- Kane’s hand in my hair, fangs flashing, that twisted promise to break me. Then it shifted darker, his body pressing me down, my wolf submitting in ways that made me wake up gasping, skin hot and flushed.I bolted upright, heart slamming. What the fuck was happening? Gosh, my mind had started to play tricks. Early morning light filtered in the weak. I reached for the glass of water on the nightstand but found nothing. Groaning, I dragged myself out of bed with shaky legs, and padded toward the door. For a second I froze, peeking out cautious as hell. I did not want Kane jumping out to attack me. I sighed, tension easing a notch, and headed downstairs toward the kitchen. The house was quiet. I grabbed a glass, poured cold water from the fridge, and drank deep. The chill helped clear my head but- Then f
STELLAI stood under the hot spray of the shower, letting the water beat down on my skin until the chill from the rain finally melted away. Steam filled the bathroom, fogging the mirror, and I scrubbed harder than necessary, trying to wash off Kane’s touch from earlier. My wrists still tingled where he’d pinned me.That fucking bastard. His weight, his growl and the way his eyes glowed with alpha fury- it all replayed in my head, making my wolf whimper even now. But under the fear sat something hotter, angrier. I wasn’t some doll he could break. I’d fight back. I would kill him. Drying off, I pulled on fresh clothes- a soft sweater and shorts. I headed downstairs, hair still damp, and stopped short at the edge of the living area. Richard was helping Mom adjust some candles on the table, his hand brushing hers gently, a small smile passing between them. They looked… happy. Comfortable. My chest tightened with mixed emotions. I was happy for her, genuinely. She deserved peace. But
STELLAI clutched the towel Mom draped over my shoulders, its softness barely cutting the chill still clinging to my skin. We moved from the foyer into the living room, a big space with deep couches and warm lighting that should’ve felt inviting. Instead, everything felt charged, like the air itself was waiting for the next spark. I sank onto one couch awkwardly, while Mom fussed nearby. Richard sat across, his expression kind but steady, like he carried the weight of the whole house on his shoulders.“Stella,” he started, voice warm and genuine, “I’m truly sorry about your father. He was an incredible man and a father. Losing him must’ve been devastating.” He leaned forward a bit. My heart ached remembering my dad. It always made me emotional and it was not easy to hold myself together in the past three years. “You’re like Kane to me now. My Family. You’re as precious to me as he is, so never feel unwelcomed here. This is your home. We want you to feel that.”I smiled politely, th
