Athena's POV
My mind struggled to process the scene, the absurdity of it not quite sinking in. Hudson and Paige having sex? There was no way that was possibly happening! Asides the fact that Paige was married to Hudson's brother, the Alpha crown Prince of the pack, the two were also sworn enemies. Hudson had always had his eyes on the position of Alpha crown Prince, and he would do anything to snatch it from his brother. Naturally, that brought bad blood between him and Paige. And I hadn't been spared either. Paige and her husband treated me like white trash. So, how could I just explain this mentally gory scene that was playing before my eyes. I couldn't believe Hudson would be this disgusting? My shock skyrocketed into rage as Paige's moans got louder. I quickly clicked some pictures as evidence in case they tried denying it just before I banged on the door angrily. "Am I intruding on some very private scene?" Venom glittered in my words. They leapt apart, a collective gasp tearing out of their throat. Hudson was the first to get up, shock flashing across his face. “Athena— I—” He stuttered like a fool as he approached me. "I swear, I can explain this." His words ignited fury in my blood, numbing the pain that was unfurling in my heart. "Alright, explain. Explain why I just watched you pound your shaft into your brother's wife? Is it like some rehearsal of an epic p**n movie I wasn't told about?" Anger flashed briefly in his eyes, then he sighed deeply. "Really, Thena? Stop being sarcastic. This was a mistake and it isn't exactly my fault. If you had spent the night here this wouldn't have happened." Gosh! I felt a strong urge to kill him right now? How could he be so brazen as to even blame me? "Don't!" I gritted out. "Do not even call me by that pet name, you disgusting cheater! How could you blame me for your mishap?" "Chill out, Athena. We can still settle this amicably." Paige shot in smugly. Amicably? I scoffed in disbelief as I whipped my head towards her. How could she even have the audacity to utter a word. Hers was even worse. She was married and already marked by her husband. "Do you even feel ashamed?" I spat with contempt. "You are unbelievably disgusting! Both of you!" "Still, shouting wouldn't solve this!" Hudson snapped. "What has happened. Let's just find a way forward." Shock rendered me speechless. "A way forward?" My voice rose an octave. "There's no way forward! It's over between us and I'm definitely letting the Alpha king, your father know about this shameless act of yours!" "You won't dare!" He hollered furiously as he sprang at me and caught my wrist. Before I could react, he slammed my back against the wall, glaring down at me. "You are one to talk, huh? Do you even have the right to complain? We've been dating for two years despite your low status, but you never let me touch you!" My jaws dropped. I couldn't believe he could actually utter such total gibberish. How could I have foolishly been in love with this animal for two years? But he wasn't done. "Yeah, I cheated on you, but is that so big a deal? You're way out of my league but I still took pity on you and dated you. But you can't even cut me some slack?" "In case you've forgotten, you're a wolfless omega and you have no right to report me. Not to mention that you're the daughter of a traitor! You have no idea how scary my father can be. He could just strangle you to death immediately he sees you!" His words were like a mighty punch to my gut. How could he rub more salt on my wound? How could he say it to my face that he dated me out of pity? And how could he remind me of the very thing I wanted more than anything to forget? When he had asked me out two years ago, he had said it didn't matter to him that my father had tried to kill his grandfather many years back. He said he knew he was framed,.which was actually true. When I was ten years old,.my dad got framed for murder and since then, I, my mum, and.my sis have earned the title; "family of traitors" I thought Hudson had believed in the story I told him, but he'd only be pretending. He'd always thought he was doing me a fvour by dating me. Tears of anger welled up in my eyes but I blinked rapidly to push it back. He wasn't worth my tears! Hell! I'd be damned to give his ego the satisfaction of hurting me. Before I could stop myself, my hand shot out impulsively and I smacked my palm against his face— hot and hard. The sound cut across the room and he staggered backwards, clearly taken by surprise as he grabbed his cheeks. A malicious glint flickered in his eyes and his nostrils flared in anger. "How dare you lay your filthy hands on the future Alpha King of the pack?" He growled. Unfazed, I snickered. "Stop being delusional! That you fucked the wife of the crown Prince doesn't automatically make you the future Alpha!" "A disgusting animal like you can never be the Alpha king!" I spat. "At least, not if i showed the Pack's council this video of you banging your brother's wife!" Before he could stop me, I breezed out of the room, determined to let the Alpha King learn of this huge atrocity of theirs. The Alpha King's Apartment was farther from Hudson and it would take a while to get there except I followed the shorter route Hudson had told me about. Not many people.knew about it and in record time, I had slipped into it, avoiding the sentinel who guarded the front gate. "What a pleasure to see you again, Athena." A voice drawled behind me and I froze. The Alpha aura that rolled off the voice couldn't be ignored. It sounded exactly like the one from— The ringing sound of my phone interrupted my thoughts and I humphed angrily. I was in no mood to have an "over the phone" convo, no matter how short. I only wanted to focus on how to pay Hudson and Paige back in their own coins. But a glance at my phone melted my anger. It was mom and I could never ignore her phone call, although I was so tempted this time. "Hello, ma." I answered the phone. "Your sister has just been taken away forcefully by the Crown Prince's sentinels. They said she stole the jewelry he bought for his wife!" "What?"Paige’s POVI walked out of my room and closed the door behind me. The day was warm and quiet, and the sun made everything outside shine. I had heard some rumors that started two days ago. People whispered in the halls, at the training grounds, even near the packhouse kitchen that the previous Luna was back.If that was right they were talking about Chloe. The ex-Luna. I didn’t believe any of it.There was no way Chloe would come back here now. Not after everything that happened and she would have no title if she came back now. But even though I didn’t believe the rumors, a part of me didn’t want to check if they were true because if she really was back… I didn’t want to see her or be in the same place as her. The thought of her being close to me made me shudder;I didn’t want to breathe the same air.So I avoided places people said she might be. I had something else on my mind and wanted to see Hudson.I grabbed my small bag and left the house. The packhouse was just ahead. I knew th
Travis’s POVAthena straddled me and I kissed her neck as she snuggled into my chest, her arms around my neck, and I wrapped my arms around her waist. Her body was warm and soft, and I felt relaxed for the first time since all that shit went down.I leaned in and kissed her neck slowly. She let out a soft sigh, and I kissed her again, this time on her cheek, then her lips. She kissed me back, her fingers running through my hair gently. The room was quiet except for our breathing. The fireplace crackled softly behind us.“I have something to tell you,” I said, pulling back slightly to look into her eyes. She blinked up at me and nodded. “Okay. What is it?”“You saw the woman that came… when everything went down earlier?” I asked carefully.A flicker of sadness passed across her face, but she quickly hid it. She nodded. “Yes… I did.”I sighed and looked away for a second before speaking again. “That’s my ex-wife.”Athena didn’t move or say anything. She just looked at me, waiting.“I to
Athena’s POVI couldn’t hold back anymore. It was night already and the end of the second day and Travis still hadn’t come out of his study.I couldn’t sleep or eat and my heart felt like it was being crushed over and over again. I sat on the edge of the bed, holding a pillow tight against my chest, hoping it would stop the ache in my heart but it didn’t.Tears had dried on my face so many times, I lost count. What hurt the most wasn’t just what Travis saw… it was that he believed it. He truly believed I cheated on him.I stood up from the bed and limped a little as I walked to the mirror. My leg still hurt from where I twisted it that day. I had a bandage wrapped around it, and my eyes had dark circles beneath them from lack of sleep. I looked like someone who had lost everything and maybe I had.I wiped my face and walked out of the room. I needed to see him and talk to him. Since I met Travis, we had never been apart because of anger not like this. Even when we argued, we always f
Athena’s POVI paced around the room for hours. The afternoon sun had gone down, and now the night had come. Still, Travis didn’t return.I kept looking at the door, hoping I would hear the knob turn, hoping he would walk in and say something but it didn’t happen.I walked to the window, then back to the bed, then to the door, and then back again. My mind was all over the place.Earlier, I had asked the guards where he was. One of them said in a quiet voice, “He has been in his study all day, ma’am and hasn’t stepped out.”I asked if I could go there and he shook his head quickly. “No one is allowed in. He told us clearly not to let anyone in.”That broke me.My heart felt like someone had tied it with a rope and kept pulling tighter.I went back to the room and just stood there, staring at nothing. “This is all my fault,” I whispered to myself.Even though I had been asleep and didn’t even know what Hudson was doing until it was too late, I still blamed myself. I hated how it all happ
Travis’s POVI entered my study, and Chloe followed closely behind. The air in the room felt heavy the moment she stepped in. My fists were clenched by my side, but I tried to keep calm. She was older now; her once shiny hair was dull, and her face looked tired and worn out. There were lines around her eyes and mouth and her shoulders were slumped like someone who had carried a burden for too long.I turned around slowly and faced her."Why are you back, Chloe?" I asked, my voice hard. "After all these years… why now?"She swallowed hard and looked at me with eyes that seemed watery, but no tears fell. Her hands were shaking, and she held her arms close to her body like she was trying to protect herself."I’m sorry I came back this way, Travis," she said, her voice soft and cracking. "I had to. I had nowhere else to go."I stayed silent and listened. I wanted her to explain what she meant. She took a step closer. "I was robbed. Everything I have is gone. I was defrauded, scammed of th
Travis’s POVI stood frozen, my heart pounding in my chest. Standing in front of me was Chloe, my ex-wife that I hadn’t seen in eight years."Chloe," I whispered, barely able to believe it.She looked the same… and yet not the same. Her eyes were softer, almost sad. Her skin was pale like she hadn’t seen the sun in weeks, and her brown hair was longer now, brushing her shoulders."Travis," she said in a shaky voice, her eyes glistening with tears. She lifted her hand slowly, reaching out like she wanted to touch me.I stepped back immediately. My chest felt tight and my throat even tighter.I could feel Athena behind me. She was watching. I didn’t even need to turn, I felt her eyes on my back."Travis, I…I’m sorry," Chloe said quickly, her voice trembling. "I have a lot of things to say to you. Please… can we talk?"I didn’t know what to say because my head was spinning. Chloe was alive and in front of me. She had left after my brother died even though I begged her to stay and now she
