Derick's POV
The sound of my alarm woke me up from sleep, I wished it didn't though because I was having a beautiful dream, one that involved Abby. I sighed and jumped down from bed, I quickly changed into my jogging pants, a sweatshirt, and shoes and went out. I jogged down the streets, I passed a few people who were jogging just like me. After jogging for thirty minutes, I decided to take a break. I pulled out my bottle of water and then pulled out my phone. I was surfing through the internet while drinking my water. I got a notification that Abby posted an I* story, and without wasting time I quickly tapped on the notification. She had posted a black image with the caption, 'he wasn't the right one.' I didn't know if I should be happy that she wasn't seeing anyone anymore or if I should be sad that she was probably heartbroken and hurt. "Better luck next time, who knows the right one for you is probably around you but you just can't see it yet," I replied to her story and quickly shut my phone, kept my bottle of water, and decided to continue. I was jogging back home. "You are back, how was today's jogging?" Abby asked, she flashed me a really cute smile, and the smile resetted my brain. "I...my..it was..." I couldn't think properly. "You must be really tired, you can't even talk properly. Let me make breakfast and oh, less I forgot, I have a job interview today at ten." She went into the kitchen and said. What does she mean by a job? Does that mean that I won't be able to see her often? But it's a good thing, this might kill the feeling I have for her. I went into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and pulled out a bottle of cold water, while I gulped it down, I could feel her eyes on me, watching my every move. Her gaze on me stirred up something very dangerous. "You like what you see? Take a picture, it'll last forever." I smirked. She quickly looked away clearing her throat, I leaned on her back, since she is short I had to bend to reach her ears. "You don't have to look at me discreetly." He stood up and left, I heard her coughing hard in the kitchen, and I chuckled and ran upstairs. "The game I'm playing is dangerous and I'm scared that I might get burned but I can't help it, she makes things hard." I entered the bathroom and stripped myself naked, I entered the shower and let the cold water cascade down my body. I like a cold bath after jogging, it helps. After taking a proper bath, I changed into something comfy and went downstairs, she was already setting the table. "Do you need help little Abby?" She glared at me because of the name but I didn't mind, it's cute. She sat down and filled her plates with pancakes, she poured syrup on them. "Are you going to join me or you're just going to stand there and watch me?" She asked. "I mean I don't mind that." I know what I was doing was dangerous but I'm still doing it. "You are acting weird, are you trying to mess with my head or something?" She squinted her eyes while talking, looking like a police detective trying to crack a case. I pulled a seat and sat down, she served me. Her actions made me smile, I wish I had apologized to her sooner, she is a really sweet girl. Breakfast went by fast, before I knew it she was standing on the porch ready to go for her interview. "Little Abby, remember you can do this, have faith in yourself, and don't let the interviewer intimate you." She looked at me with a smile on her face, "If you put your ugly face aside, you are a really sweet person. Thank you for the encouraging words and pleasure jerkface, stop calling me little Abby." She pouted, a side of her I'd never seen before. I bend down to her height, my face almost touching hers, "I'm sorry but I can't do that little Abby." I kissed her forehead, I couldn't help it. "You should go, we don't want to be late. Max will take you there." Max is one of our drivers. "Okay." She whispered and left, I don't know if I saw correctly but the pink on her cheeks, was she blushing? Did I make her blush? I watched the driver drive out of the house. I went back in and went straight to my room. You must be wondering why I'm always at home. Well, I'll stay at work next week. Unlike Abby who has to look for a job, I am the CEO of Dad's company. Abby refused to work there, she said she wanted to work somewhere where she wouldn't be given privileges. Abby's POV While Max was driving me to my destination, my mind played back to what happened earlier. I don't know why I was staring at Derick while he was drinking that bottle of water but he looked so sexy while he was drinking. And when he whispered in my ears, I felt my knees go weak like they were made of jelly. I don't know if it's just my imagination but Derick has been acting strange, 'does he have feelings for me like Ruth thought? Nah, that's absurd, he is a brother. He can't possibly have feelings for me, he'd be a sicko if that were to be true." "We are here-" "Huh?" I looked out of the window, oh shit, I forgot I was going for an interview. "Thank you, Max, I'll call you when I'm done. Wish me luck." I stood in front of the tall building, I took in a deep breath before moving forward, I didn't get to go far before pumping into a glass door. Typical me, I'm such a clutz. My name should be Abigail Clumsy Jones. I looked around and luckily nobody saw me, I dusted the invisible speck of dust on my dress and went in. "Good morning," I smiled at the lady at the front desk, and she smiled back. "Good morning, how can I help you?" She asked politely, her smile not leaving her face. "I'm here for the job interview," I answered. "Oh okay, take the elevator to the third floor." "Thank you." She nodded. I took the elevator to the third floor and as she said, I saw a bunch of people waiting, they were probably here for the job interview. 'Do I even stand a chance?' I felt like going back home but I'm already, I should give it a try, 'it shouldn't be that hard right?'"Abby," I heard him calling my name but I ignored him, I wanted to be alone. I don't need my big brother, all I need is me and this cold floor."Abigail if you don't open this door right now I'm going to break it." He threatened, with a sigh I stood up and opened the door for him."What do you want Derick, leave me alone." My eyes stinked."I don't want you to be alone." He pushed himself inside my room and shut the door, took hold of my hand, and took me to my bed. "Sit down." He ordered I did as I was told."I know what you are going to say, 'told you so.." I rolled my eyes."No, I'm not going to say that although I want to. But I'm not because it's also my fault for not telling you what I saw.""What do you mean Derick? What did you see?" I looked him dead in the eye waiting for him to explain himself."The other day I saw him in a restaurant with a different lady, and no it wasn't Ruth. I wanted to tell you about it but I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news and I didn't want
Abby's POVDerick has been acting strange lately, I feel like he has something to tell me but he is holding back, sometimes I catch him staring at me with a look that makes my heart drop."Here is your cake." The cashier said, I'm at a cake store, today's Alex's birthday, I'm so excited, this is the first time I'll be celebrating his birthday with him. And guess what, it's Saturday so I don't have work, I plan on spending the weekend in his place. We've been dating for a month now and we've never spent quality time together, we've never been intimate with him, it's my fault because I've always been busy. I want to make it up to him."I collected my cake and paid for it," humming to a tune that has been stuck in my head for a long time.Max opened the car door for me, I thanked him and went in. He'll be taking me to Alex's, Derick said I shouldn't go there by Public transportation. On her way to his home, I thought about the things we'd do together, I couldn't help but blush. When we a
This movie is crazy, just thirty minutes into it and I've cried my eyes out, I want to stop watching but I can't. My eyes are glued to the screen, I just can't stop watching. The movie finally came to an end, my eyes were completely red and swollen. "Why did you decide to watch such a movie?" Ruth was in the same condition as me. "Because I heard people talking about it, I wanted to see if it was a nice movie. Now I know." She stood up and went to the kitchen, she came back a few seconds later with two glasses of water. We watched a lot of movies, and we laughed and cried, it's moments like this that I cherish the most when I'm with her. "It's getting late, I think I should start heading home." "Awww but I still want you here," she pouted, I giggled, she looked cute. "I don't want to leave either but I have to." I pulled out my phone and texted Derick. "I still have like thirty minutes or more before my ride gets here, let's make the most of it." We used that thirty minutes to
I tensed up when I heard what she said, 'Am I being obvious?' I asked myself but got no reply. "But don't worry, we both know that you can never have feelings for me, after all, we are siblings." She disengaged from the hug and kissed my cheeks. She pulled away and pointed at the coffee mug, "Don't drink too much coffee." She said and left. I breathed out the air I didn't know I was holding, I sighed and returned to my seat, I picked up the coffee mug and had a taste of what she made. The coffee she brewed was strong and dark, I liked it. Weeks passed by quickly, Abby was busy with her job, and I saw less for her at home, I know it's supposed to make me happy but it doesn't, my feelings for her are still the same. The little time I get to see her, she's always on her phone talking to that douchbag. Abby's POV I wasn't wrong when I gave Alex a second chance, he has been the best boyfriend ever, and he has always been so supportive of me. My job is tiring and demanding, I barely
"Take them to my office," I instructed the driver. "Look, Derick is back." I heard Abby's voice from the living room, I could hear my parents' voices. "Good evening Mom and Dad," my stepmom opened her hands for a hug, I couldn't resist it, I needed it. I hugged her, I went as far as laying down next to her and putting my head on her thigh while she ran her hands through my hair. "How was work today?" She asked. "Tiring." I gave a short reply, my eyes landed on Abby, she was staring at me with a smile on her face. "You brought work back home." Abby pointed out the obvious. "Yeah, thanks I didn't realize," I muttered trying to sound sarcastic she stuck out her tongue, and it made me laugh. "I have loads of paperwork, I decided to bring some back home to kill time with..... Dad, Mom said you fell ill, how are you feeling now?" I decided to change the topic. "I'm feeling much better," Dad replied. I hummed. "Dinner is served," I heard the voice of the maid I forgot we had, mom ha
