“It's her... it's really Sel... ” Nate, rumbled slowly within me but I wasn't in the right state of mind to process that he was speaking again, despite having gone silent for the past few days.

“If it wasn’t you that night, who was it then?”

She asked the question, looking just as confused as I was.

I took a step closer to her first. Then another.

Even though we had figures hunting us in the woods, and the fact that she had just stolen my most important documents, I couldn't have cared less. All I could think of was that she was really here. She was really the one.

My fingers were trembling as I reached out, needing to touch her face, to feel her warmth, to be completely sure she was real and not another hallucination born of my regret.

And dammit, I was already in front of her before I knew it, doing exactly what I thought.
