3: Banished

YVONNE —

"What the f*ck is wrong with you, Yvonne? You want to land me in trouble?" He growled, his eyes turning red.

Fear gripped me because I knew what was about to happen: his wolf was about to attack, and there was nothing he could do about it because when he became aggressive, his wolf took control of his body.

Before I could speak, Conan had pounced on me, and I fell on the tiled floor; his fangs pierced through my soft skin.

"Ah!" I yelled as I saw my hand bleeding.

"After conspiring with the rogue Lycans to injure her, you had the guts to come here to attack her again!" Conan growled.

"It's okay, Conan; don't hurt her, please," Sophia said, pretending to have my interest in mind.

Conan then left me on the floor with his eyes still fierce and his jaw clenching out of anger.

"You want to kill my mate in my palace," he remarked, breathing heavily. After a few minutes of standing, he left the room.

I lay on the floor, sobbing, as the pain of my wounded hand and leg was unbearable.

After a few minutes, I summoned the courage to stand to my feet. I really needed to get out of this place before the worst would happen.

However, as I was managing to get up, Sophia stood from her position and kicked me backwards, making me fall massively, and she laughed with satisfaction.

"Did you like what just happened now?" she smirked.

"Sophia, you will pay for all these," I yelled, crawling to escape from the room; however, she held me back.

I was so pained to the core that I wanted to use my last strength to fight her and show her what I'm capable of. At least to give her the real injury she set me up for; however, I waved off the thought from my mind because I knew it would only cause more harm to me.

"If you don't do as I said, you'll see more than this in the future, and by then, I won't be in any position to help," she whispered, holding my jaw like a slave.

"Over my dead body," I responded.

Feeling annoyed, she clenched her teeth and spat on my face. "You stubborn clown," she snarled.

Immediately, I lost control of my anger and kicked her with all my strength, and she fell on the bed.

"What an insult!" I stated, using the bedsheet to clear the spit on my face.

After cleaning my face, I hurriedly stood up from the floor to run, despite my hand and right leg aching.

"He doesn't need to meet me here again," I mumbled and ran out.

In the compound, I was staring everywhere, looking for a short and open space to sneak out of the palace, because I knew following the general route would lead to Conan, his father, or the guards seeing me.

Fortunately, I discovered the emergency little gate, which is only in use when there is a catastrophe in the palace. As I was trying to unlock it with the master key I had, I heard the echoes of my name from my back, and I nearly urinated on my body out of fret. The voice was that of Hakim, the beta of the pack.

"Wha– – what do you want from me, Hakim?" I questioned him.

"I want nothing from you, my Luna," he responded. "I really wish I could help you out in this terrible situation you're in, but I can't; I have to do my job," he narrated.

Hearing those words, I let out a heavy breath of relaxation. If not for anything, some people know I'm truly being belittled and care for me.

Nonetheless, as I opened my mouth to commend him, he interrupted: "The Alpha demands your presence; that was actually what I came to let you know," he remarked, making my heart sink into my stomach.

"What could it be again?" I was curious. "Who knows if Sophia has lied against me again?" I wondered, my body trembling out of fear.

"Um, okay, I've heard you, Hakim; tell him I'm coming," I stuttered.

"No, my queen, the Alpha demanded that you come with me, I can't go back without you by my side," Hakim opposed.

I gritted my teeth in confusion, riffling my neatly cured hair out of frustration. "Okay, let's go," I replied.

"After all, I haven't seen anyone die twice; if I die today, I will die no more, and my pains will go away," I mumbled inwardly, trying to overcome the fear in me.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the Alpha chamber; however, Sophia was seated beside Conan and was faking a cry.

She glared at me with a mocking gaze, and I could read from her lips, "You're yet to see the real me."

Just as I was lost in thought, thinking of what she might have told Conan, Conan's voice brought me back to reality.

"Yvonne, so after everything, you went ahead to hurt Sophia, even after I scolded you for your first attempt." He questioned, his voice as cold and dominating as he had never been before.

"My Alpha, I was only trying to protect myself; I did nothing to her; it was just self-defence as she badly wanted to kill me," I responded, with an honest look.

He smirked upon hearing my response. "She wanted to kill you, really?" he added, smiling, and then turned his gaze to Sophia.

"Don't mind her, honey. She's lying," Sophia quickly responded without even Conan asking her any questions.

"Oh, I know she was. You don't need an explanation," he replied, staring at me and smiling wickedly, with his legs crossed.

After a few seconds of staring at me without uttering a word, he finally dropped the glass of wine he was holding and gently let Sophia off from his body. He stood up and began approaching me where I was kneeling.

"Please, Conan, I'm innocent. She wanted to kill me that's why I kicked her to flee for my life." I cried, trembling, because I didn't know what he had in mind to do once he approach me. Perhaps he was about to end my life at this moment, because the first time he injured me, he broke my leg and arm.

"I won't touch you anymore, Yvonne, there's no need to tremble," he said.

I let out a deep breath upon hearing that, at least my life is no longer at stake now.

"But this would be your last moment in this pack, yes, and I mean it," he said, causing me to jolt in shock. However, my eyes collided with Sophia's, and she smiled at me with satisfaction. Truly, she said it—she said that I would see more in the future, and here it is manifesting.

"There is no need for the investigation I said that should be commenced concerning the attack the rogue Lycans did, because it's clear now that you truly did it. Therefore, I, Conan Adolph, reject you and banish you from my pack."
