SIX YEARS LATER
On a huge island, in the middle of the ocean, stands a majestic building. Of course, this building belongs to none other than me, Yvonne.I sat on the couch in my garden, taking in the fresh morning breeze and sipping some liquor from the glass of wine I was holding with my legs crossed.I recalled how I got to the level I am now, and a smile crept onto my lips. At the same time, I felt sad about the sad memories, both the ones I experienced in Moonstone Pack and what I went through fending for myself and my babies while studying at a college. I would go to lectures during the day and use the night to work in a restaurant where I served as a waitress. It was not easy for me because I was depriving myself of sleep. I worked till midnight, when there would be no customers, before leaving for my apartment. My boss provided me with an apartment that was beside the restaurant, so I could easily walk home after work without the need to board a cab or trek at midnight. It was after I was banished from the pack that I discovered I was pregnant. I recalled the incident that occurred the last day I trained—the dizziness.Of course, Conan was responsible for the pregnancy, but he never knew I was pregnant and banished me to be with Sophia. Even I was not aware until my Tommy began swelling up. It was then that I went for a test, and the shocking news was revealed.Nonetheless, I was not even pregnant with a baby, but with triplets. However, I had no option but to keep them because I detest abortion and talk more of aborting the first fruits of my womb after several attempts to get pregnant. The news, which was supposed to be a joyous thing, turned into a sad one at the moment because I wasn't in a good state to have a baby talk more of babies. This was because I have no good job to take care of them, nor do I have a supporter."Grateful I made it finally," I mumbled inwardly, a smile creeping onto my lips."Mummy!""Mummy!""Mummy!"I jolted and glanced back, only to see my three babies running towards me."Gosh, I thought you all were sleeping," I muttered."Mommy I thought we would go shopping today; you promised to take us out this week," Kiara, the first one, remarked."Yes, Mommy, you promised," Liam, the boy among them, uttered. He was a carbon copy of his father."And you promised to buy me ice cream, Mom," Amelia, the last one, added."Yes, I said so, but this week isn't over yet, sweethearts. Mommy keeps her promises, doesn't she?"Just as we were discussing, my phone began ringing; however, upon glancing at the screen to know the caller ID, I sighed upon noticing it was the managing director of the hospital I work with."Another medical case. I thought I was off from work this week; what's this call about?" I wondered because Mr. Thomas had never called me during my off days at work.I picked up the call and placed the phone on my ear."Hello, good morning," he said from the other end of the call."Good morning, Director," I responded, waiting for him to spill out his request."Doctor Yvonne, please, I'm sorry I'm requesting this from you, but you need to do it for us," he stated."Sir, name the request, and I'll help if I'm able to," I responded."There is a medical case we received just now, and after several thoughts about who could handle it well among the doctors, you came to my mind; your skills are amazing," he stated.I gulped down upon hearing that. "I know it would be this," I monologued."Are you there with me?" he questioned as I was silent over his phrase."Of course, sir. I'm still on the line," I replied."Good. So the patient is from Moonstone Pack, and his condition is so critical that he demands he be treated in his palace," he explained. My eyebrows arched upon hearing the last word, "Palace". At first, he mentioned the patient was from Moonstone Pack, and now he mentioned he wants to be treated in his palace."I hope it's not what I'm thinking," I mumbled inwardly, letting out a smirk."Alright, sir, I've heard you, but could you tell me the name of the patient?" I requested, trying to make sure he was not who I was thinking, because if it was him, then I was not taking the offer."Actually, his name is Conan, the Alpha of the pack; any problem?" he questioned."Um, sir, I'm sorry, but I don't think I can help in this case," I responded. This was the man I had sworn never to encounter in my life any longer because of what he made me go through. Although I know Conan's decision to banish me from the pack was because of Sophia's accusation, but he was the one who gave Sophia space in his life that led to all this."Why, what happened, Doctor Yvonne?" Mr. Thomas questioned. "You were willing to handle this case, then suddenly you changed your mind. What is the problem? Is it about money? Of course, there is a big cash prize waiting for you; the Alpha promised that he's ready to divide his wealth, and whoever could help him out of the condition would take the greater percentage, he's a prominent man and wealthy, don't worry he'll keep to his promise," he explained.I giggled slightly. Only if wealth was still my problem now. Had it been years ago when I was struggling that I got the offer, I might have taken it without giving it a second thought, but now money means nothing to me anymore, I have enough money."Yvonne, please don't turn this offer down. We need to strike this deal because it would make us go global," Mr. Thomas explained. "If not for anything, do it for me, please," he pleaded.I sighed helplessly upon hearing his pleas. I wanted to reject it immediately, but a flashback of how I knew Mr. Thomas flashed through my mind.He was the one behind my growth. Mr. Thomas was the one who helped me secure this job as a doctor in this hospital at the point I had lost hope because of what it takes to be a mere cleaner or security personnel at Queens Hospital, talk less of a doctor. You must be from a well-known family to get a job here."Well, sir, I'll accept it," I responded, clenching my lips. I could not turn him down when he needed me the most, moreover, this was the first time he had asked for a favor from me."Thank you very much, Yvonne, I'm..."Um, sir. Not to disrespect you, but I'll do the job under a condition," I remarked."Please name what you want," he responded instantly."The Alpha needs to sign an agreement that I and my kids will not encounter any harm or similar issues, and I won't stay in the palace till I'm done with him," I stated, my voice bold enough to let him know I wasn't joking about it.CONAN — I was lying on my bed with a gloomy face, trying so hard to wave off the thoughts about what had befallen me, when Hakim, the beta, came in, and I quickly sat up. "My Alpha, the hospital had just responded, but they demanded that you sign a contract first before they would proceed to assign you the doctor who would take care of you," he stated. "What arrant nonsense! Who does that?" I responded, my face frowning worse than it had been. "What has my signature to do with healing me from this deadly disease?" "I'm sorry, my Alpha, but... "But what?" I interrupted him with such a stern gaze that made him keep quiet but stare at me as I reverberated. "Throughout my life, I haven't seen or been to a hospital that demands a contract be signed before treating the patient; what does this mean?" I was confused and surprised at the same time. "I don't know their motive either, my Alpha; maybe that's their rule," Hakim responded. "Rule? Or do they want me to sign off my life to the
YVONNE – "Yvonne, are you really going back to the Moonstone Pack? I thought you vowed not to visit nor set your eyes on the man who nearly ruined your life." Amanda said. I sighed, "You will not understand Amanda, I mean... "You mean what? How could you, Yvonne? How could you agree on the contract? Do you even know the repercussions this might cause you?" She yelled, her gaze cautious. However, her mean words were not going to make me retreat from my conclusion.I sighed and gently placed the glass of juice I was sipping on the table. "Amanda, relax. I know what I'm doing. In case you've forgotten, I'm no longer the weakling Yvonne I was those days, and I would never let them trample on me the way they did in the past. Besides, he is the one who needs my help, and I'm not doing it for him even, but for the pack and Mr. Thomas, who offered the request," I responded. "Really?" Amanda gazed at me in disbelief. "Okay, what if he finds out about the triplets? You'll stand a chance of
YVONNE –"This is the contract paper; Alpha has signed it, but he also requested that you sign a contract too. Once you do this, everything has been sorted out," Mr. Thomas remarked, handing me a paper.I took a glance at Mr. Thomas and immediately threw it away. I don't need to exhibit how irritated I felt about the offer toward him.How could Conan do that? He's the one who needs my help, not me. What's the need for me to sign a contract, too?"Sir, I don't think these people are serious. I mean, this contract doesn't go well with me; how could he request that I sign a contract too when he's the one who needs my help?" I replied."Um, Yvonne, I understand, but it's not really as you thought. He has a very good reason for that. Remember that he's a prominent person, and our reputation needs to be protected," he enunciated.I sighed heavily, feeling weak about the new development."Well, let me have it then," I responded.Mr. Thomas' countenance quickly shone brighter upon hearing my
YVONNE –"Sir, where are you taking us? This isn't the place we're going."However, he didn't utter a word but instead matched the accelerator harder, and the car sped more."I'm doomed. I noticed this earlier, but I ignored my mind. This man isn't from the Moonstone pack," I fret, fear gripping me more as he glares around the bush like a dangerous criminal, making sure there's no barrier while the car is speeding."Yvonne, what do we do? The kids," Amanda whispered."I think I have a plan. He's just one. We can kill him without stress," I responded to her with a whisper.I was about to shift into my wolf form when the car came to a halt, and instantly, two notorious men came out of the bush and hopped in the car. They bonded us together like luggage and sped off to the destination best known to them."Amanda did say that she had a strange feeling this trip would not turn out well, but I ignored her. What have I gotten myself into?" I whimpered in regret as I remembered the argument I
CONAN –I could not believe my eyes. Never did I imagine that the doctor who would save my life would be the same person I rejected and banished from the pack six years ago. I can't believe Yvonne is now a medical doctor.I could remember vividly six years ago, she was just a Luna who couldn't do anything without consulting me, she was the eighteen-year-old girl who faced humiliation from my parents and me just because we could not have a baby.During those years, all she had was our relationship. She had lost her family and doesn't have a sibling, but now she is a whole different person; she has a profession and three cute babies to her name. She has completely changed to the extent that I only recall her through her face. Her body now has attractive curvy shapes and soft skin, while I'm just a childless Alpha diagnosed with a deadly disease who can't do without a walking aid."Who knows who the lucky man could be? What a great loss to me," I mumbled inwardly.I gulped hard as I reca
YVONNE –When we entered the room, with a deadly aura, I pounced on the gamma and broke the guard's leg. All this was possible because none of them could shift. Caesar was a non-shifter, while Gamma was still unable to shift, she was just seventeen years old."Please don't kill me, I'm just under a threat to do this, Sophia forced me into this." Lisa, the gamma pleaded.Meanwhile, the guard had managed to escape the moment I approached Lisa, the gamma."So you mean Sophia forced you to rebel against your Alpha? What about her? Where is she?" I questioned."She left the pack a year ago after poisoning the Alpha; she's no longer here," Lisa responded."Do you mean Conan was suffering from a poison Sophia gave him? What a shock. Well, stay here with me let me give him some treatment first before you proceed to narrate the whole story to me," I responded.I went toward Conan on his sick bed; however, I realized he was no longer breathing."Oh my god, Conan, not now," I fretted, and I bega
YVONNE –The drive to the rented apartment didn't take us long, and we arrived. After we alighted from the car, Hakim reversed the car and brought out his hand from the window. "This is the key to your apartment, ma'am. Enjoy your stay," he remarked, handed me the key, and was about to storm off when I yelled."Wait, you will have to show us some certain things in there; we're just new here and need proper orientation," I stated."Okay, then," he responded, and he alighted from the car, and we sauntered into the building.I glare around the corner, grasping my babies firmly, because I am scared. Who knows if this place is very safe? Or an arranged building to exploit us."This is your room, and that is your kid's room," he stated. "Do you have any problems with this?" he added."Actually, I would prefer to stay in the same room with my kids; they are too young to stay in a room alone, a room that isn't even in our house," I responded."No problem. You can stay with them together while
CONAN – I don't know why the thought of Yvonne has become something that seems unwavering. Although I was eased upon seeing her, realizing she is good and even successful, I couldn't resist thinking of the sweet memories we shared before I let the outsiders push me into doing what I was not supposed to—I let my parents push me into hating her, thinking she was the cause of my barrenness. "I just wish I could live with her, even if it's one day. It would cure the bruises Sophia left in my heart. Even if I don't recover from this sickness, I will be happy, at least I will die as a happy man," I muttered. Just then, a knock came on the door. I tried to turn in the direction of the door and peep through my security hole, which was pierced at the right edge of the door. It was through the hole that I could realize who is knocking on the door without walking to the door and peeping. The security hole was designed in a way that I could peep from the bed. As I struggled to rotate and had
