Chapter 120: Robbed off our hope and joy

**Bryan’s POV**

My world had become a blur of sirens, white lights, and rushing feet.

“Move…get her inside, now!”

The command tore through the night, but I barely heard it over the roar of my own heartbeat. My voice cracked as I stumbled through the sliding emergency ward doors, Christiana’s limp body cradled against me. She felt impossibly light, terrifyingly fragile, as though one wrong step might shatter her completely.

“Help! Somebody help her!” My throat burned, every word raw and jagged.

Nurses rushed forward in a wave of scrubs and urgency, their arms outstretched. Voices overlapped, sharp, precise, each one laced with a kind of controlled panic that only heightened mine.

“She’s unconscious.”

“BP is dropping.”

“Start a line, move, move!”

“Get her to trauma, stat!”

I tried to hold on to her, to fight them, because letting go felt like losing her all over again. But their hands were everywhere, prying, steadying, guiding her ont

  • Craving The Enemy's Husband   Chapter 121

Chapter 121*Bryan’s POV* The doctor had given me the most heart-breaking news that my brain refused to process, the nurse asked that I wait because they need to clean her up, now I wonder why they are calling me again if it’s not to see Christiana. My lips parted, ready to beg to see her, but then, I realised I had just heard that. Was I hallucinating? Just then the nurse came by, “She’s awake. You can see her now” My heart leaped for joy as I rushed in and saw Christiana lying, her eyes blinking open. “Bryan…” The world stilled. My breath caught sharp in my lungs. She looked impossibly small against the sea of white sheets, her skin pale but glowing faintly under the hospital lights. Her lashes fluttered weakly, her lips curving into the faintest ghost of a smile. Relief detonated inside me, violent and overwhelming. My knees gave out as I lurched to her bedside, my vision blurring with sudden tears. “You’re awake,” I choked, my voice shredded, unrecognizable even to me. I

  • Craving The Enemy's Husband   Chapter 119

Chapter 119*Bryan’s POV The notebook slipped from my fingers and hit the floor with a dull thud, the sound far too small for the weight of the words it carried. “No…” The word tore from my throat, hoarse, broken. “No… no, no…” I stumbled back, clutching my head with both hands as if I could crush the thought before it fully formed. But the truth pressed harder, burrowing deeper. The walls closed in, the air grew thin. My chest constricted until I couldn’t breathe. Bella… had killed my mother? It was supposed to be an accident, wasn’t it? The jagged wound I had seen in that morgue slammed into my memory with merciless clarity, the way her body had looked, it was impossible for her to have that deep hole in her chest when I looked at the car wreckage. What could have stabbed her? Rage, disbelief, pain all collided in one violent detonation inside me. My knees buckled. I collapsed onto the floor, my palms bracing against the carpet before I crumpled completely, tears flooding my

  • Craving The Enemy's Husband   Chapter 118: Hang On, Christiana

Chapter 118: Hang On, Christiana **Bryan’s POV** It had been two days. Two endless, brutal days since Christiana disappeared. I hadn’t slept, hadn’t eaten. My body felt hollow, like I was moving through the world on fumes. The police updates had turned into empty words, their rehearsed reassurances a cruel background noise I no longer trusted. “We’re doing everything we can.” “These things take time.”. Every time the word left their mouths, it felt like a death sentence. Every time the phone rang, my chest leapt with a hope so violent it hurt, only to collapse seconds later when it was a solicitor, or the police with nothing new, or Bella. Bella called twice, pretending to check in, her voice dripping with manufactured sympathy that I hung up on before she could say too much. And now here I was, pacing through Christiana’s apartment like a madman. The walls still carried her scent. It was soft, faintly floral, comforting, the kind of fragrance that wrapped around you quietly ins

  • Craving The Enemy's Husband   Chapter 117

Chapter 117**Bryan’s POV** I swallowed hard. “If you touched her…” My voice broke before I could finish. I forced it steady, steel where there was only breaking glass inside me. “If you hurt her, Bella, I swear to you…I’ll…” “You’ll what?” she cut in smoothly, rising from the couch with the grace of a predator circling its prey. Her bandaged head flexed as she stood, and her smirk widened. “You’ll go to the police? Tell them your wife kidnapped your mistress? Tell them the grieving wife, who nearly bled out from sorrow, is actually a criminal mastermind?” She stalked closer with every word, her bare feet silent against the rug, her silk nightgown whispering with movement. Her laughter bubbled up again, cruel and triumphant, twisting my insides into knots. “Oh, Bryan. Do you even hear yourself? No one will believe you. Not a soul. You’ll look pathetic, weak and isn’t that the real crime in your world? A man like you, reduced to begging for scraps of truth about your mistress from

  • Craving The Enemy's Husband   Chapter 116: Perplexed

Chapter 116: Perplexed **Bryan’s POV** I returned home again, the mansion no longer felt like mine. It reeked of a life I didn’t want anymore. It reeked of lies, of betrayal, of everything I was desperate to cut away from. The polished marble floors gleamed under the chandeliers, the scent of fresh roses clung to the hallways, yet the air itself felt rotten. Staff whispered as I passed, their eyes flicking nervously toward Bella’s wing of the house. The heavy doors there were shut tight, as though the darkness itself had bolted them. Maria intercepted me halfway down the corridor, her apron balled in her fists, her eyes red-rimmed. “Sir… I can’t do this anymore. I’m leaving. Tonight.” Her voice cracked, fear threaded through every syllable. I should have begged her to stay, should have tried to reassure her. But this wasn’t the time. Something bigger consumed me, gnawed at me. “I’ll call you,” I said flatly, my voice barely my own. And then I walked away straight toward Bella.
