The morning light filtered weakly through the curtains, casting gold across Karen’s sleeping form. Peter stood at the edge of the bed, his eyes lingering on her peaceful face, his thoughts far from peace. His jaw was sharp, carved with the tension of a man who had reached a breaking point.

He brushed a thumb over her hairline gently.

“For you,for our baby. I have to end this.”

He slipped into his shirt, fastened his cufflinks with steady fingers, but inside he was a storm cold, focused, and deadly.

Mark had crossed a line.

A line no brother should ever cross.

A line no enemy could walk back from.

Today wasn’t business as usual.

Today was war.

THE DRIVE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Peter’s driver pulled up the black SUV, but Peter waved him off.

“I will drive myself,” he said. His tone brooked no argument.

He needed silence.

He needed clarity.

He needed to become the version of himself

the strategist, the manipulator, the shadow the board feared.

The day was far from over.By the time Peter stepped out of the elevator into the lobby, a soft drizzle had begun outside, blurring the glass doors with silver streaks. The city seemed subdued, unaware that a corporate war no, a family war had just detonated on the upper floors.Peter walked toward the exit, his mind sharp, his steps steady. But inside, he felt a tremor. Not fear. Not regret. But instinct. The same instinct that once kept him alive in business, in betrayal, in a childhood surrounded by shadows and secrets.Something was coming.Something he couldn’t yet see.His phone vibrated.Unknown number. He hesitated for half a second then answered.A distorted voice filtered through static.“You made a mistake today.”Peter’s jaw tightened.“State your name.”Silence.Then a slow, mocking laugh.“You think removing Mark from the company removes him from your life?”Peter’s eyes narrowed as he stepped outside into the rain.“Listen to me,” he said, voice cold and even. “If I eve

PETER UNLEASHED HIS OTHER SIDE TO KARENMy hands moved as if guided by a will of their own, my fingers going to the straps of my dress. The silence in the room was broken only by the soft rustle of fabric as I let the garment fall. His eyes never left me, tracking every movement with an intense, possessive gaze that traveled from my breasts down the length of my body.I walked to him and lowered myself across his hard muscled legs, my back presented to him, my cheek pressed against the cool coverlet."Do you know," he began, his voice a low murmur, "why I am doing this?" His hand trailed a slow, deliberate path down the curve of my spine, over the swell of my hip, and came to rest, cupping one bare cheek of my ass. My breath seized in my lungs, and I squeezed my eyes shut."You are punishing me, Peter ," I breathed out, my voice trembling. His fingers began to make slow, possessive circles on my skin. "Reasons?""I" I stammered, my mind scrambling because everything going on with you

The storm arrived faster than either of us expected.By Monday morning, Peter’s phone wouldn’t stop vibrating—emails, calls, notifications lighting up the screen like tiny explosions. Each one carried the same poisoned message:URGENT: INTERNAL AUDIT MEETING — MANDATORYREQUEST FOR COMPLIANCE INTERVIEWBOARD REVIEW OF FINANCIAL REPORTSPeter stood in my living room, staring at his phone as though it were a weapon aimed at him. He looked exhausted already, and the day hadn’t even begun.“Whatever happens today,” I said, touching his arm, “you’re not alone.”He kissed my forehead. “I know. That’s why I’m not breaking.”But the truth was already clawing at both of us.Something was wrong.Deeply wrong.THE BOARDROOM SUMMONSPeter arrived at the company before 9 AM, but the atmosphere felt wrong—colder, stiffer. Workers whispered behind hands. Security guards watched him a little too closely. And when he reached the boardroom…Mark was already there.Sitting at the head of the long confer

The walls of the executive boardroom gleamed with cold luxury—glass, chrome, and power. Mark stood at the head of the table, his jaw tight, eyes sharp with a fury he had mastered too well.He tapped his fingertip against the polished table. Once. Twice. Enough for the directors to fall silent.“As the third-largest shareholder of this company,” Mark began, his voice smooth but edged with steel, “I expect efficiency. Precision. Obedience.”The three directors seated before him folded their hands nervously.Director Collins cleared his throat. “Sir… the financial alterations have been inserted into the system. But framing Peter—”Mark’s glare cut him off instantly.“Don’t pretend you don’t understand me,” Mark said, leaning forward. “Peter’s department handles the all the budget. If someone wants to make it look like he diverted funds, it shouldn’t be difficult.”Director Collins spoke cautiously, “The board will start asking questions if a shareholder is involved directly—”“That’s exa

Peter called later that night, just as I was preparing to sleep. His voice carried a tenderness that wrapped around me like a blanket.“Are you still awake?” he asked softly.“I am now,” I said, smiling into the darkness.“I just wanted to hear your voice again,” he admitted. “Today felt… bigger than anything I’ve ever lived.”I felt my heart lift. “It felt big for me too.”There was a quiet pause, the kind shared only by two hearts learning to speak the same language.“Sleep well, my fiancée,” he whispered, the word sounding new and warm on his lips.I pressed the phone to my chest after he ended the call, letting the joy settle into me. For the first time in years, my future didn’t feel blurry. It felt like something I could reach out and touch. The following morning brought a different kind of quiet—one that sat low, almost uneasy.Mum was in the kitchen, humming as she prepared breakfast. She looked at me with a bright grin.“Engaged woman,” she teased. “How does it feel?”“Strang
