JHAN'S P.O.V.
I and Tia left without Jereum today. He said he had been suspecting Kaldar was leaving the house to an unknown place and returning before we would return back home. The walk to the end of town was usually filled with Tia's jokes and jests but today even she seemed awfully quiet. Tia wasn't the sad type like Leya, or the grumpy type like Jereum. She was the joy of all of us. With Kaldar now making the weird one. We were complete. I was their leader, their advisor. The serious big brother who found them all. They all looked up like their demi god. Mostly Leya though, Jereum knew I had acquired my knowledge over time. I wasn't looking forward to impurifying any new members. We were a team of five. Tia was silent because today would be the first day she would be tasked with training the young vampires who wanted to become survey elites and adjudicators. She had been quite nervous since but I had reassured her that it wouldn't be a big deal.

FRIDAYNight fell, the rest were not back from their activities and the only other person in the house was Leya. I glanced at the clock, it was past eight. I checked the kitchen but there was no flask, probably Jhan would bring it with him back.Leya who was in the silence of her room, had finally decided to go to school. Something I had talked her into. I had about two more hours of my own freedom till my family returned and I had to make the most of it.I went to Leya's room and knocked on her door."Kaldar?""Yes Leya, it's me," I said, "I'll be leaving the house but I'll be back soon.""Okay, I'll be fine," She said. I got downstairs and exited the door. Glancing to either side of the road before dashing down the sidewalks.I got around Dawn’s house and to my surprise I saw her sitting by her windowsill, a book in her hand. She noticed my presence.“I’ve been waiting for you," she said, a bri
ONE WEEK LATER. FRIDAYA week had passed since I star gazed was with Dawn. The early light of dawn in the morning reminded me of her and I cherished every moment we shared, reliving it over and over again in my head.I felt myself becoming more and more attached to Tia and sometimes she’d even caught me staring at her from across the room, I’d quickly avert my eyes but that didn’t take away the awkwardness that came with it. Today was like every other day—boring. I slept through the entire day in my attic-room and woke up at seven in the evening.I had made sure that Leya went to school in the morning again, even suggesting to walk her but she refused and walked off by herself. Jhan drove her and dropped her off when she'd agree but the girl liked her alone time. And accordingly to what she told me, she knew a shortcut to her school, which was basically climbing over a few buildings, allowing her to skip over three blocks th
CONTINUATION…I chased after Tia, matching her speed was easy but I slowly couldn’t keep up with the constant bending and twisting around empty houses. She was still ahead of me, I could easily catch up to her if I wanted to but I kept my sped at a moderate pace for fear of falling again. I had already fallen three times and I was lucky she didn't notice. The wind whizzed past my ears, blowing around my body and billowing my shirt. I spotted a few more shadowy figures and I thought I even saw one move instead of their usual stationary, statue like stature.Tia came to an abrupt halt, I sped past her before also stopping on my tracks and then jogging back up to her,"Tired?" I asked."Are you kidding me? That was merely a warm up," She patted me on the shoulder.I looked ahead, the tree tops were getting closer."It's just up ahead," I said."I know." She glanced around. I spotted two watchers, one at
FRIDAYI had swooped Tia, running as fast as I could. I glanced back periodically, and spotted the beasts. They were about five foot in height and were indeed chasing after us.I ran faster and faster, I could now see the beginning of the forest. My heart was pounding in my chest and I could hear Tia's heart as it galloped inside her. I was almost out of the forest when I spotted a figure leap from our side towards us. The beast would have probably gotten us but I was faster. I leapt about ten feet into the air. The beast missed and landed on the open road.We had also landed onto the open road and I saw the animal clearly under the moon light. Tia looked at it with fear in her eyes; it was the first time I had never seen her this scared. A cars headlight shun from behind it. I dashed to the other forested side of the road and the creature jumped back into the side we had just come out of. I watched silently, through Supreme vision, as the beasts l
SATURDAYThe light around me was bright and highly disturbing. I blinked a few times before opening my eyes. I was lying on the ground, in East valley. I didn't know how I could tell this was the forest, I just knew it was. I was in a shaded area; an all around me was illuminated with intense yellow sunlight."How did I get here?" I asked myself. The forest was quiet, the light was bright. I shielded my eyes with my hand. And to my own bewilderment I noticed that my arm had grown back. I looked at it, amazed. I seemed to be all alone but then I saw Dawn appear out of nowhere, she was holding a bunch of flowers and smiling gleefully at me."Dawn?"She smiled even brighter.“Come Kaldar, no one can disturb us… no one can harm us.” She said."Dawn how did we get hear?""Come to me Kaldar." I heard a low growl and a big black wolf jumped out of nowhere and swallowed her up.“No, no, no, no, no, no.&r
SUNDAYIf anyone had told me that I would get a second, stranger visit with the higher court, I would have said they were lying. But this time I was merely a subject of examination. They had peered into my mind countless times with their intrusive mind’s-eye. The feeling they gave me was like a great blanket was thrown over your brain, preventing you from communicating with any other part of your body—they said they did it that way so I wouldn't be distracted. You couldn't move your limbs, see through your eyes or even hear sounds around you, it only lasted about a second in reality though it could feel like hours had passed. It was a good thing that they could only see the memories you held and strongly focused on, so I pushed any thought of Dawn whatsoever to the furthest part of my mind.East valley was dubbed that because the main road between the two forest areas was significantly lower than the surrounding trees. It was like a valley at
SAME DAYI liked the way Tia brushed her thumb against my skin but the question was if I actually loved her. I could have fallen in love her and was just deceiving myself that I didn't actually love her, no, the way I felt around Tia could not be compared to the way I felt around Dawn. Dawn made me feel more alive, more real like she brought me from two-dimension to three-dimension. I loved her.We drove for another boring ten minutes before the minivan finally eased to a stop. Tia was gently stroking my neck with her left hand as I leaned my head on her left shoulder."Everyone stay in, Jereum you can come with," Jhan said, before he stepped out and Jereum stepped out as well. And that's how it has always been, Jhan and Jereum, defenders of the undefended. If only Jhan would stop treating me like a child and more like one of them. I was the most powerful after all.We had stopped a distance in front of a bungalow. Red painted walls as usual and I saw an
MONDAYWe rarely ate so we didn't even need to brush. Just a good gurgling with mouth wash did a surprisingly good job. I remained in my room. I had changed out of my jacket and into a plain black shirt and pants. Nobody had come to check up on me yet. It was five in the morning. I hadn't stopped staring at the documents in the folder. I felt a rising, raging hunger building up inside me to figure out more.'How did it even get this?' I wondered. The documents in the folder gave information about me; five foot eleven; hundred and ninety pounds; dark skinned; Leukaemia patient. The part for my name was torn out but my birth date was still intact—second November 2001. So I was going to be turning twenty at the end of the year. I had gone through the paper throughout the night but I couldn't stop looking at the passport photograph of myself. I was bald; sick looking, bony, my eyes looked too big for my head. Not able to take the cruel reality of
