First Fight

Athen POV

I prowled towards the shelf behind me, when my phone suddenly became alive. Scrunching the small square towel in my hands to dry up the water, leaving the dishes soaked in soap I averted towards the vibrating cell phone and leaned over it.

A familiar name was blinking on it. I picked it up and pressed it against my ear.

"Hello."

"Hey, sweetie. Where have you been?" Jade spoke.

"Oh, I was doing dishes." I said in an occupied tone.

"And I thought you must be preparing for the ball night, eh!" She said, as if attempting to remind me something I was missing.

" And I thought we would be doing it together." I simply said.

"Haha…" her squeaky laugh resonated, "we would."

"I'm free after doing the dishes." I told her. "In case you want to come right now."

As I invited her, a strange fear crawled up on me. As if I was not supposed to say this.

"Ummm…" she mumbled, "I have a friend seeing me tonight. Maybe tomorrow morning or evening. I'll inform you."
