Yes. Where have you been?" His question still stood there unanswered.
Travis became my friend from the day first, our bond transformed from exchanging uncomfortable gazes, giving a brief introduction to sharing uncontrollable touches of laughter, notes, and sweet memories.
"I… I… we just met yesterday. What are you talking about? I am not getting you, man!" Muddled, I spoke.
"Haha…" bursting out in laughter he pushed my shoulder. "No, bruh. I'm assuming you slept for long hours and must have met me in your dreams." Nonchalantly he blabbered the astonishingly strange truth.
"Yeah… umm…" my jumbled-up mind was still trying to process his sayings. Was I missing something? Or was whatever he said the truth?
"Seems a sure thing." I shared his laughter and then we both began walking towards our campus side by side.
Everything felt amazingly the same yet strange. As I stepped into my classroom filled with chattering heads relentlessly moving, mouths bursting in loud waves of laughter. None seemed least bothered by our presence. Sauntering through the rows we reached our desks and took a position.
"Look who's back. Athen." A Russian accent sounded like announcing the news of his arrival to the class approached him.
"Oh…" a bolt from the blue forced out of her mouth after she moved to his front to witness his surprisingly hit transformation which like Travis got her bewildered.
Travis got occupied in opening her notebooks, and Athen seemed equally disturbed to find out her reaction as he did earlier when he met his friend.
"Who… is this handsome boy?" She stuttered in obvious disbelief. "Travis, I thought you walked with Athen in the classroom, eh!"
Averting to him, she called his attention to her. Responding, his hands stopped and eyes followed in her direction.
"So, I did." A smirk gleamed on his face.
"Whattt… the heck on earth is happening?" She spoke.
"Hahaha… are you seriously Athen?" The girls spoke in a mocking tone amalgamated with surprise.
"I am not doubting the fact tho." Athen finally broke his silence over her question and looked her in the face with unbelievable confidence. Where did he get that from overnight was still a mystery for him and the people around him?
"But how this happened?" She asked patting him on the shoulder in her jolly manner, pushing him onto the desk to make space for her, she sat with them.
"Happened? What?" Athen confusedly repeated her question as if he had no idea about what she was asking.
"Oh, c'mon. So this is what you have been up to for the past month. Secretly busy transforming yourself. Eh!" Clancy huffed.
"Well, let's change the topic," Athen suggested switching the conversation as the more both of them talked the more he was getting confused. What transformation, what disappearance they were repeatedly mentioning were flying over his brain instead of getting in.
The class began as soon as the professor came in, her loud lecturing tone didn't get processed by his senses as his mind was fully invested in configuring the shocking taunts his fellows had hurled at him after seeing him.
"Did I look different in the past?"
He pondered. But he could not recall any memory from his past. The fact was really disturbing for him.
Lost in his thoughts he didn't realize when the class ended and the trio trudged out of their room with fully roasted brains after attending the boring lecture.
"Hey, grumpy bunny." A familiar sharp-witted voice called him from the back when the trio was sauntering towards the end of the corridor packed with students.
Athen didn't know the shout was intended to call him. He kept on pacing down with his friends when he suddenly felt a hand snapping on his shoulder from the back and with a jerking force turned him around. He nearly lost his balance when Travis backed him.
"What the heck!" He groaned in anger upon this action.
It took him a while to adjust his gaze to the face of the person who pushed him back. Not to his great shock, he found a familiar face his mind had bitter associations with.
"Neil." Clancy came forward in her boyish accent and called his name attempting to defend his friend.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" She overtook Athen with her chest stretched out bravely she confront the bad boy on his behalf.
"Eh, the bunny got a female bodyguard." He mocked Athen looking him straight in the face. A fiery glowed in his eyes instantly upon seeing his pulling him down verbally.
"You…" Clancy opened her mouth to say something, but her words were cut short by a slight push as Athen sideways her to his right and stepped forward.
He stepped forward without breaking his gaze on Niel. All the eyes were stuck on both of them. It was not the first time that the crowd was witnessing the two of them face to face. The pages of history were smeared with the quarreling stories of these two, getting red and blue. But no page shows a single instance when Athen won him.
History was going to be destroyed today. The story of a new warrior arousing from the dusted alleys, and marking the battles by this name would be penned down on the golden pages of the diary and the event would be remembered by the batches joining the institute in the future.
"The little grumpy tuart will face the lion today," Neil spoke.
Athen closed his fist tightly to his side as he passed him a queer look, a prior warning to the enemy to shut his mouth and leave the battleground before he would be all bloody and fleshy.
"So, you finally came out of their filthy hole." Neil joked and the crowd burst out in laughter siding him in the battle. It seems like Athen had a two-person army with only two of his dearest soldiers accompanying him and supporting him.
"You…." Words died halfway, as Athen punched him in the belly. He broke out in excruciating groans, and the corridor filled with gasps evaporating from the surprised stricken mouths of the crowd who were intriguingly witnessing the historical moment.
Soon the wheezing noise got dimmed by his roars as Athen continued to thrust punches on his belly and face until it all turned blue and red, and bloody.
All those eyes fixated on the duo could not process the details of the scene that was currently happening in front of them. Disappointed by Niel, they all were bombshell by Athen, who was just acting so new.
"Who is this guy?" A whisper arose from the crowd as if no one had known this Athen who also happened to be a part of this institute.
"Athen!" Clancy announced in a loud and proud tone.
Yet no one truly could ever know who this guy was.
With each passing moment, the beating of my heart grew louder and more frenzied, as though trying to break free from my chest. My body was tense, and the air inside the small, roofless hut felt thick and suffocating. I couldn't help but be drawn to him, despite the fact that he was a werewolf - a prime rival of my kind, a vampire. As my gaze trailed over his hair, my mind was filled with conflicting emotions. Intrigue, desire, and a sense of danger that sent shivers down my spine. I knew the truth, that he was my enemy, but I couldn't help but be drawn to him like a moth to a flame. My thoughts were interrupted as I craned my neck to look up at the sky. The sight that met my eyes was breathtaking. The natural light of the rising sun was spreading across the horizon, painting the world in shades of orange and pink. I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and awe, even as fear began to creep in.As the first rays of sunlight began to spill into the hut, I knew that I was in danger. M
As I stood in the hut, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The eerie silence was deafening, and the darkness seemed to envelope me like a shroud. Suddenly, a voice echoed through the trees, breaking the silence."You're a cursed alpha!" the voice yelled, sending shivers down my spine.I turned my head around to find the source of the voice, but there was nothing but darkness staring me in the face. My heart pounded in my chest as I struggled to maintain my balance. "Who are you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper."That's not important," the voice replied. "Who am I? You should ask who you are. And I'm here to answer your question."The voice began to grow closer, and I felt a chill run down my spine. I was surrounded by darkness, unable to see anything around me. The voice seemed to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time."What do you mean by it?" I asked, confused and uncertain. The darkness seemed to part, and a shaft of light appeared from behind the
I looked at Athen, hoping that he would wake up and save us from the witch. But to my dismay, he fainted on the floor. The witch was indeed a powerful force to confront. My nerves began to pulsate with fear as the witch let out a roar of happiness and victory. She had successfully turned me down, sucking out all my energies and powers. I watched helplessly as she approached Athen, her eyes gleaming with triumph. With a wave of her hand, Athen began to writhe in pain, as if his body was being consumed by an invisible force. The witch's laughter filled the air as she continued to drain his energy. My heart sank as I realized that we were doomed. I closed my eyes, feeling the weight of disappointment and defeat. The darkness consumed me as I lost consciousness, unable to fight any longer. When I opened my eyes, I was disoriented, unsure of where I was. It felt as though my head was spinning, my body aching with a sharp pain that ran down my spine. I felt a light touch on my cheek, almo
My eyes felt heavy, as if lead weights were attached to my lids, dragging them down with an unrelenting force. The world around me slowly faded away, consumed by the overpowering darkness that was rapidly encroaching upon me. I struggled to make sense of my surroundings, but my mind was a jumbled mess of confusion and disorientation. A metallic tang filled my nostrils, and I soon realized that blood was dripping from my nose, staining my lips with its crimson hue. The sharp, searing pain that coursed through my body reminded me of the brutal blow that had been dealt to me by my assailant. I lay there, unable to move anything except for my breath, feeling as though the very life force was being drained from my body. A heavy sense of disappointment washed over me, a bitter reminder of the reason I had come to this place in the first place. My mission was simple: save Ayra, break the spell that had been cast upon her, and bring her back to safety at the hotel. But now, as I lay helple
I stared at her with eyes full of disbelief, trying to find some resemblance of Ayra in her features. But her face, it was like that of a stranger. My mind was caught up in a whirlwind of thoughts, unable to comprehend how this woman, who looked nothing like the Ayra I knew, could possibly be her. The more I tried to process it, the more confused I became. It was as if I was standing on the edge of a precipice, unsure whether to take the leap of faith or not.A feeling of uncertainty washed over me, making me question everything. What if she was a witch, trying to lure me into her trap? I couldn't take any chances, not with Ayra's life at stake. But something in her eyes, a spark of determination, made me want to believe her.I leaned in closer, trying to get a better look at her. The sight of her tears still streaming down her cheeks sent shivers down my spine. She was hurt, badly hurt, and in desperate need of my help. As I crouched down next to her, I felt a surge of compassion was
A shiver ran down my spine as I rose from the chair, my eyes darting around the room nervously. The lady who had served me the food looked perfectly normal, but something about her made me feel uneasy. It was as if a dark cloud hung over her, threatening to engulf me at any moment. Despite my unease, I couldn't deny that the food she had served was delectable. Every bite was an explosion of flavors, a symphony of tastes that I had never experienced before. As I pushed my plate away, my heart started racing. I knew that it was time for me to leave, but my legs felt like lead, unable to move from the spot. The lady smiled at me, her eyes glistening in the dim light of the room. I felt a sudden urge to run, to escape from her clutches, but something held me back. The flavors of the food were still lingering in my mouth, tantalizing my taste buds. I couldn't put my finger on it, but there was something about the taste that felt off, almost sinister. A bitter aftertaste lingered at the bac
