Chapter 2: My Mate

“Lavelle! Hurry up, everyone is waiting for you.” I heard my mom say behind my door.

“Yes, mom!” I responded the party has started. Everyone was already there, eating and celebrating. I looked at my wall clock. It was already ten in the evening. At twelve, I would be turning sixteen, and I would meet my wolf.

I didn’t know I would be this nervous. I was fine until now. My heart was jumping stronger than before. I stood against my mirror looking at my dress. Would they like this? I did a quick change of dress, I would not be using that purple dress, Laia usually wears purple so I’d be wearing forest green. I looked like thinker bell mom said.

I refused to tie my blond hair and keep it down for tonight. I touched my gold choker which was glistening. I looked at my almond shape eyes and smiled. I took a deep breath, it’d be alright.

I head out of my room and went down.

“You are so beautiful.” My mom held my cheek and kissed me on my forehead.

“Thank you, mom.” She hugged me and when she pulled away, I saw him wiping her tears.

“What are you crying at? Gosh, mom. Don’t be so dramatic.” I joked at her and she chuckled.

“My baby is all grown up lady now, I just couldn’t believe that time had passed seemingly fast.” She said and I wiped her tears.

“Stop crying, I am not marrying yet, it’s my birthday you’re not allowed to cry.” She smile wider and nodded.

“Yeah, you should enjoy your night.” I hold her in her arm as we walked out of the house. Everyone cheered when they saw me, the place was amazing. The lights around seemed magical and we had a bone fire in the middle.

The whole pack was there, watching me walk out of the house. They approached me one by one to greet me.

“Happy birthday.” The special greetings came behind me so I turned around and saw him. He gave me a bloody red rose which was very beautiful.

“Thank you.” He held my hand and bend to kiss it.

“Awoo!” Everyone howled as he did that. When I said everyone, even my family and the little children around. They expect me to be the next Luna. Behind my smile was the pressure they caused me. Behind my wide smile was a silent beg to the moon goddess to give me what I want so I would not disappoint anyone.

Time was too quick for me to notice. The countdown has started, the moon was out and was half-covered with clouds, we’d be waiting for that to shine fully.

I took a huge gulp and balled my fist to stop it from trembling. Everyone failed to notice my nervousness--I looked down at my hand, he was holding it and massaged it a little. I was wrong, he noticed my nervousness so I smiled at him.

Looking up, I could feel someone staring at me. I knew they hope me to be their Luna, and I hope too. I should be, please moon goddess.

My breath hitched when the countdown ended and the moon was already in the right position. Everyone howled again and started shifting. I felt my body aching too. First, my chest went tight and I could hardly breathe.

I felt my knees weaken and soon I fell. “AHHH!” It was too painful, from my head down to my toe. Everything was painful until I touched the ground. “AWOO!”

After that loud howl came from my throat I felt my sense sharpen. My sight was too clear and even my hearing. I sniffed the air but I couldn’t smell anything.

I lost my sense of smell. I turned around and saw them looking at me. I was about to cry when I smelled vanilla. Vanilla with a smell of dawn. I looked at Kylo who was looking at me too.

“Mate.” I heard him in my head and it was my happiest.

“Mate,” I responded and everyone knew it.

The current Alpha howled and they followed. And I knew for sure that we share the same glee. He walked around me while wagging his tail. He snuggled to my neck and licked my face.

Thank you, the moon goddess. I looked at the moon above and thanked her with all my heart. They started running to the woods to hunt.

He asked me to run and I nodded. He run first and I followed him, this is my first run as a wolf. He kept up with me and didn’t run too fast. Soon I saw my parents run beside me. While the Alpha and the Luna were running on the other side.

The best night.

Our parents decided to leave us for a while and let us run alone. He was tracing the way to the lake we usually hang out. He shifted and stood up. Giving me the full view of his broad shoulder and sexy back.

I shifted and stood next to him while looking at the lake.

“Thank you.” He said and turned to me. I smiled and looked at his intense eyes.

“For what?”

“For for keeping your promise,” he stepped closer.

“Anything for you,” I answered and he pulled me closer.

“I was very happy when I saw you shift, I didn’t know what it could be if you weren’t my mate.” He whispered into my ears. I hugged him and he did too.

“I am more than happy. Moon goddess knew how I prayed to be your mate.”

“I love you.” And my tears fell as he said that. I love him since before and I knew he do too but we could not clear what are we since we were still young and the moon goddess must be the one to choose the one for us.

“I love you too.” Finally, everything between us was clear. I know my place now, not just in his heart but in his life.

He held my face and stared into my eyes.

“You are very beautiful, you know that?” Nothing could explain the happiness in my heart right now.

He touched my chin and planted a soft kiss on my cheek.

“What is this, Kylo?” We froze when someone spoke.
