LOGINOphelia povIt’s been almost a week since Ragh asked me how to look less like a nightmare and actually get closer to Bree. Honestly, I didn’t think he’d listen, but to my shock, or maybe horror, he did. I’ve settled in the kitchen, near the window, from where I can see them both. Ragh has settled down on the grass, once again sitting far enough from her to make it seem one of them might be sick with something terribly contagious. But, at least today, he’s not wearing that dreadful pink tutu. I thank the Goddess for that small mercy. Ragh has changed a whole lot - he’s keeping his hands in his pockets and every time he leans forward, he catches himself and fixes the distance again. On the other hand, Bree still looks like she’s ready to bolt even though she hasn’t tried to even once, which is new for her.I could sit here and watch them both get to know each other for days on end, but my life doesn’t stop and unfortunately, it’s far more complicated than what they’re going through.
Ragh povThe director says ‘be boring’ so I try. Boring is hard, by the way. My body is big, many teeth and my face does a smile that the director says makes people drop plates. But all that won’t stop me from getting closer to the little blonde one. So, like a man of honor, whatever the director says that means, I let him have the walk in the woods and walk to Optimus. The important rule is talk to Optimus and I’m very serious about rules. I find her in the garden, surprisingly not surrounded by mates. A little unfair - she got four and my little blonde one got only me, but I don’t mind because I am better than many men. That aside, I like Optimus - she doesn’t run from me. “Optimus,” I say once I get close enough. She looks up and smiles, “Ragh, the loyal raccoon demon follower of my father’s, if this is about fireworks and explosives, rest assured - I didn’t see anything.”“No boom. I need look.” I tell her and couch down in front of her to bring me to eye level with her.She
Lenox povI’m already halfway to the tree line with a spoon hidden in my pocket and a silly song playing in my head when a loud, frantic voice stops me in my tracks. “Director!”For a second there, I consider stopping, but then I remember the plans I have and decide against it. It’s not often I can sneak away from Sarah unnoticed so I rather not stop before she catches me. Just as I step into the forest, Ragh crashes out of a bush behind me. “I’m busy,” I say without looking back, “this is my sacred cardio - me, the woods and some mild crime. Go do whatever demons do during broad daylight.”Ragh starts sputtering some nonsense, most of which I don’t even understand, so with a loud groan, I stop and turn on my heel to face him. “What?” I ask, arms crossed. “The little blonde one,” he says, smile so wide I see far too many teeth.I arch an eyebrow, “Bree?” “Yes, Bree, the little blonde one - mine.” He says and rushes to stand right in front of me, still smiling too wide. “Wait,” I
Hayes povThe second the car crosses onto our land I want to put my fist through the window. Tate’s driving and hasn’t said shit for more than twenty minutes. Maybe he’s just being smart, because I have a feeling that if he’ll open his big mouth, I might send my first straight through his skull. Once the house comes into view, the only thing I can think about is Ophelia’s face while she decided she can send us home like we’re some unwanted pests. “Stop the car,” I suddenly snap, gripping the seat with both hands. “We’re in the driveway.” Tate grumbles.I turn to look at him and lower my voice to a growl. “Stop the fucking car.”Tate, fucking finally, realizes I’m not playing around and slams the breaks. I get out of the car before he can kill the engine and kick the door shut with so much strength, the car actually vibrates with the aftershock. A moment later, Tate gets out, leans against the car and crosses his arms, “you done, princess?” “No.” I snap without looking at him, bre
Ophelia povWhen I wake up, I’m too hot, covered in sweat and there’s an arm wrapped around my waist. My eyes snap open and I jolt to look over my shoulder. I come face to face with Alister, who looks far too pleased with himself. A groan slips past my lips, which only makes him grin even wider, “are you kidding me?” I hiss.Alister completely ignores my words, grins a little wider and grumbles, “good morning, beautiful.” “Did you seriously sneak into my room while I was asleep?” I ask, even though the question is useless because the answer is very clear. “Yep,” he says with a shrug, no regret whatsoever in his voice. Just as I’m about to snap at him that sleeping in one bed was never the deal, he keeps talking, “I couldn’t sleep without you. I tried, I really did, but I kept twisting and turning for over two hours until eventually, I gave in and came here.” I turn in his arms and shove his shoulder but that does nothing. “This is exactly what I tried to avoid. I don’t want to jum
Lenox povI don’t mean to spy, okay, that’s a fucking lie because I mean to to spy so hard the Goddess herself takes notes.Sarah, Laz and Luka are tearing the garden apart, looking for my fireworks, which is great, they’re having a productive family time, but that also gives me more unsupervised time - goodie.Ragh is stuck to my side like a cursed backpack, and don’t blame me for calling him that - demon daddy did it first and the nickname just stuck.“Director,” he whispers and leans a little closer. “Your mate said if she finds one kaboom-”I roll my eyes and wave him off, “nonsense, she won’t find one kaboom, my friend, she’ll find eight.” “She said boobs.” Ragh reminds. I gasp and slap a hand over his mouth. “Never mention her sacred inventory as a threat before me ever again, my demonic raccoon friend. And besides, she said no boobs for me if I blow something up, she never said the threat counts if she finds the inventory.” Ragh actually gives me a look like I’m stupid, but
