Amira saw the men before Baltir could finish his sentence. They sprang out of hiding as though they had been waiting for them. How was that possible?

This was not the king’s usual routine, and they didn’t venture that far into the forest. This wasn’t near the borders. Baltir cursed before hastily removing his shirt and lowering his breeches. As he transformed, his inked, muscular body quivered, and fur sprouted from his skin, morphing him into a magnificent grey and red wolf.

Amira focused on doing the same, sighing when she realised her dream state would not allow her to shift into a wolf. She could only lucid dream to such a degree, she supposed.
