Although it had been four years, the memory was still fresh in her mind.

Clutching her head at the sound of sudden ringing, she groaned, writhing on the tiny bed.

"Please, stop!"

The screaming of children and yelling of parents calling unto them, the smoke that enveloped everywhere, making it hard to see. The sudden burst of flame that surrounded the pack house and the sound of war cry all surged through her mind forcefully.

Emberlynn convulsed, gasping.

"I do not ask for this life!" she screeched, clasping her hands over her ears tightly. "I offended no one!"

Please make it stop.

Her voice quivered as she tried her best to push the horrendous thought away, but it was futile. It kept pushing itself back into her head.

The wicked-looking fire that pitied not even the newly born pups nor the helpless pregnant she-wolves, she saw it vividly grinning at her.

The ugly-looking scar on her right arm was a reminder she had been in that brutal attack. It still made her shudder; it still gave her nightmares and incited a lot of unwanted, awful feelings inside of her.

The incessant knock on the door snapped her out of her daze. And instantly, the tormenting images vanished.

Panting, Emberlynn clutched her whacking chest before scurrying to the door. She spied through the peephole and shivered as she saw who was behind the door.

The bane of her existence was that she was the object of his ridicule, and worse was, he was the alpha of this pack. The Lycan Night Pack.

Emberlynn had thought running away from her previous pack to start over again would give her a better life, but she was wrong.

She guessed it was her naivety that got in the way.

His beady eyes narrowed, and his nostrils flared. "Open the damn door, Emberlynn, or else I will be forced to break it down!" He slurred.

When he used her full name, she knew that could only mean trouble.

Also, he was drunk; she heard it in his voice, but she wasn't surprised.

Every night, he came home staggering towards her room to finish off what he hadn't do during the day before he went back to his room. He taunted her with harsh words and inflicted her body with several marks that she never dared to strip in public for the shame of being laughed at.

As if it wasn't enough, the pack members isolated her and looked at her with disdain because she was a wolfless omega. She was deemed the devil's daughter and made to do the most horrendous things most times.

Her Alpha, Vincent's fist, collided with the door, and he banged on it several times, making her flinch.

"Goddess, please help me. Even if it's just this once," she murmured, clasping her hands together.

The comfort that often coursed through her from having prayed to the goddess was nonexistent; instead, it left a weird feeling inside of her as Vincent continued to curse.

"Open this damn door right now, whore!"

Shaking her head, Emberlynn slides down the cold tiled floor, clasping her face in her hand. Sniffling, she felt the first teardrop before her body shook.

She couldn't continue this way. But it wasn't that easy.

She wishes it was like before; she wishes everything could go back to normal, but her mother died. She freaking died, leaving her in the cruel world!

Even though she was an omega, she was happy living like that until the attack happened. It was the fault of the hunters or, might she say, the unknown Werewolves who came to hunt down her pack, leading to the demise of her mother.

She wished Vincent had died in place of her; she wished he had been captured like the several others, but he had been lucky to be away, hunting.

Emberlynn wished a lot of things back then after coming to terms with the fact that her beloved mother would never return to her. Now, she was still wishing the same.

Emberlynn puffed out a breath, her ears twitching as the lock twisted. He must have gotten a key to access the room.

Standing to her feet as the door flung open, Vincent marched in.

He shot her a murderous glare and snarled, "Why did you ignore my voice?!"

Emberlynn shook my head, ignoring his questions, and continued to stare at the floor.

"I repeat, why did you ignore my voice?!" His fat hand collided with her cheek swiftly before she could react.

Emberlynn's head whipped back so fast, and she gasped, clutching her stinging cheek.

"You speak when I ask you a question!" he yelled. He stalked towards her, gripped her chin, and forced her to look into his eyes.

She bit her lower lip as it quivered before blinking back the tears that threatened to spill out of her eyes.

"Do you want to answer me, or do I need to force the words out of your mouth?!"

"I-I…" Emberlynn stuttered, then glanced down before looking at him again. "I'm sorry, Daddy, that is bad of me."

"Good!" A nonsensical grin found its way across his face before it turned into laughter, showing his yellow teeth that had been partly damaged by the numerous tobacco he often smoked.

"Very obedient, little wolf," His hand trailed from her cheek down her collarbone, and she squirmed.

He pushed down the tiny strap of the blouse she wore, and she glanced up in time to see his eyes glinting. "You have the most beautiful skin ever, and you're going to give me a fortune!"

He shoved her away from him roughly as if she was some sort of trash, and his eyes wandered around the room, "Pick the little things you can or still get dress. I doubt you'll be needing any of the stuff you have here in your new home."

"What do you mean?" Emberlynn frowned. Vincent never said anything about packing into a new apartment. She doubted he could afford it because of the little money her mother left; he had squandered it all in gambling.

Also, she once heard he was involved in some illegal smuggling, although it was only a rumour, she couldn't help but wonder if it was true sometimes when he came home with new things. But then, he was an alpha; he could have been gifted.

"What else would I mean?" He retorted and then scoffed, "I'm selling you off!"

"W-what? Why?" Emberlynn gasped. Several questions jumped around in her head, but she could only utter those two.

"You are worthless, Emberlynn. I do not think you know this yet, but instead of wasting space, it's best to sell you off and make good money."

Her head reeled. The first time that surfaced in her mind was to burst out laughing. At least when she was nervous and scared shitless, that was the emotion she felt. But nothing happened.

She continued looking at Vincent, hoping he would take back his words, but he didn't. Instead, he gazed at her for a long time and smirked.

"You'll make such a good whore to the alpha. He's wealthy, a kindhearted Alpha, who's willing to mate with you. The best thing is, tomorrow is the banquet, darling child, and the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack is coming to take you away as his mate." He said, clapping his hands and licking his lips.

His eyes narrowed as if waiting for her to object, as she did, he added, "Don't even think about running away because your punishment shall be worst than even the ones the Omegas often faced."

Vincent strode out of the room as he finished speaking not giving her a room to object.

"Oh gods," Emberlynn muttered, sliding down the floor slowly.

She clasped a hand over her face; the tears she couldn't control slipped down.

Having thought running away from her pack was the best thing, only for her stepfather, Vincent, to find her again and take her in.

She knew why he was doing this. She never allowed him access, just like the other omegas. Vincent, even though her stepfather had made many advances towards her, which she had ignored.

He preyed on little girls and most times paraded them in front of lecherous men to pick from to take away.

Her inability to not allowed him access had angered him several times, and he had condemned her to hell to meet her mother, whom he believed was 'good for nothing.'

Emberlynn couldn't think of why her mother had agreed to mate with him when she knew he was this nasty.

Or perhaps she didn't. And perhaps, it was out of pity. Yet, she doubted it. He must have threatened her and took her against her will.

Breathing out, she wiped the tears on her cheeks at least, if she was getting sold, not to a terrible alpha that had the reputation of a beast.

There was no escape for her; she knew that. She only wished the goddess could take pity on her and send her her true mate.

Her true mate- the handsome, tall, broody, dark-haired, strong alpha...

"No," Emberlynn muttered, shaking her head to dispel the image.

He couldn't possibly be her mate as well. There was something strange about him.

Anguish. Even though it was only a dream she had seen him, she had sensed so much from him, and that was pain, an immense amount of pain and sorrow.

And in each vision she saw him in, she had felt each of his intense emotion.

Despite that, she was curious.

Emberlynn desired to know why she kept seeing him and if he indeed was her mate, as well as why she felt his connection to her mother's death.
