AVETHANDWA SISULU
To the higher ups, never ever again. Yesterday, I woke up with a headache. I know it was alcohol but I hated myself at that point. I remembered everything from the pool party. All the silly jokes I cracked and how I was just an annoying girl who can't handle alcohol. Mostly, I hate that I let myself be vulnerable in front of three guys who I just met. Going to a party at their house is fine but getting wasted? I wonder where did the other girls go to but who cares?
“There you are.” Tinyeleti came running to me at my desk. She hugged me.
“Hi to you too.” She let go.
“I was so fuckin worried on Saturday. How could you be so dumb Avethandwa? Is Mbuso your brother?” She is mad.
“Obviously not.”
“Then why are you so over familiar with him? Hello? We are women.” I know that because guess what? I travel with a knife.
“I'm sorry Tinyeleti for getting wasted at Mbuso's place.” She sighed and sat on the desk.
“I'm also sorry. I was just worried. You don't normally go out with just anyone.” She's right. I guess it's because of my dad. He kind of insinuated that I'm a loner and it never bothered me before but this time it kind of did. It's been eleven years, you'll think I've moved on.
“I just wanted to try out new friends except for you. I might have agreed to go out on a date with Sizwe.” She frowns.
“Who's Sizwe? The guy from finance?” She tries to think about all the Sizwes she know. The guy from finance wears glasses and he's a nerd. Glasses are hot on a guy but he shouldn't be a nerd, just smart.
“Mbuso's brother.” She gasp.
“The Triplets B?” Why are they called Triplets B anyway?
“I regret it. I don't wanna go on a date with him.” I was drunk and I must have agreed to everything.
“Why not? He's hot. They all are.” She giggles. She's such a girl.
“Weren't you preaching about us being women and them being men?”
“Of course not, silly. I merely meant that we shouldn't find ourselves in positions where it's easy for men to take advantage of us. No matter how many dates you may go, if someone wants to unalive you they will but a little extra caution won't hurt anyone because as much as the amount of femicide is increasing in the country, we as women we just want to live. We just want to fall in love, be loved safely and securely without feeling like we are in danger. Excuse me. I said a lot.” I hold her hands to comfort her. Tinyeleti is a sensitive person. A lot of things hit close to her.
“I'm sorry for worrying you.” She shakes her head.
“It's okay Ave. I love you and go to that date with Sizwe. On a public space this time and remember it's ten dates before you go to his house.” Technically, I've been to his home but fine.
“I'll think about it.”
“Or I can come along the next time you go to their house to meet the other triplet.” You never know with Tinyeleti.

I was busy with analysing data from one of our new aircraft. Golden Aerospace is the biggest company in aircrafts manufacturing in the province. You won't believe how much I make as an intern and now imagine how much I would make as a girl with a contract? I would move to a better apartment. Send enough money for renovations to my grandma. She's the only woman who receives flowers from me on every mother's day. She raised me and I'll forever be grateful.
“So are you going?” Tinyeleti sat on my desk.
“Going where?” I continued with my work because this one is done with her work for the day. She always finds it pleasing to disturb me.
“On a date with Sizwe Mboyo.” Their surname is Mboyo? That's so unfamiliar. Is it Zulu?
“You even know his surname? It looks like it would be proper if you go instead of me, future Mrs Mboyo.”
“I mean Tinyeleti Mboyo does have a nice ring.” She played with her hair. She's so delulu. “But I'm being for real. I want to doll you up. Please say yes.”
“No.” I'm really not interested in going on a date with Sizwe Mboyo.
“Please.”
“It's like he sent you to me.” She looked everywhere but not me. He really did.
“Wow. Since when are you his spoke person? And how does he have your number?” I closed my laptop and stared at her.
“Before you start overthinking, I met him at the reception. He was looking for you but since I know you wouldn't have appreciated the suprise, I asked to convey the message.” She gave me a sheepish smile like all is well.
“How does he know i work here? I never mentioned this place.” Was he perhaps stalking me? I hope not.
“He said you mentioned something when you were drunk. That's not important. If you go to this date, I get a date with Muzi.” I shook my head and opened the laptop.
“I will go on this date Tinyeleti.” She will never leave me alone. She stood up and screamed in excitement. I hope i won't regret this.
“I kind of already told him to pick you up at seven. After work, we are going straight to your place. I'm gonna dzoll you up.” She walked out. She's gonna be disappointed because I'm not dolling up. I'm trying to chase him away.
I paused my work and took my phone to search for his I*******m account. Everyone is on I*******m and I did found him. Some pictures he was with his brothers. He's working at his family business. He seems like he has life all figured together at the age of 22 years and Em Bee, the restaurant that was opened few weeks ago is his family's. What are his family exactly into? There's no mention of any other family member well except for some girl, Thando Zulu. They refer to her as their sister and she always reacts or comment to their posts. I'm pretty sure there's a story somewhere here. Three boys rich at the age of 22 with no mention of parents? Maybe they are trust funds babies.

“Thank you.” I sit down at the chair Sizwe pulled for me. We are at his family restaurant. It's fancy believe me but I'm not moved. I'm not one to be wooed by fancy things.
“You're welcome.” He sat down at his. He spent a minute just staring at me. The mood was just awkward. I could be home right now and watching a new series on Prime Video.
“What are you staring at?” I snapped at him. He smiled.
“Are you always this annoyed Ave?” He put his elbows on the table so he could try and get closer to me.
“You don't get to stare at me and ask me that. I didn't even want to come here.” I grabbed the menu on the table. Last time Tinyeleti brought some chicken strips from this place, I'll buy them as a takeaway but now i want to try a different meal.
“Yet you came. I'm honoured.”
“Only to find out what you want from me. You're nothing like my type Sizwe.” I don't think i have a type but it's definitely not Sizwe.
“What's your type then? Let's start there then i will tell you about mine.” All this time, he was just staring at me with a small smile on his face. He looked so much like Mbuso yet he's not him.
“I don't know but I know it's not you.” He laughs a little.
“How sure are you? I think you're my type regardless. You're short, feisty and smart. I'm willing to get to know you more and for you to get to know me.”
“And I thought it couldn't speak.”
“And you have a smart mouth. I think it's sexy. Should we order?” I rolled my eyes but nodded anyway. He's paying so why shouldn't i order?
60.AVETHANDWA SISULUI honestly didn't want to wake up and get out of bed. He insisted that he's fine and there's no need for the wedding to be cancelled tomorrow, but I still don't trust him. He really doesn't seem hurt anywhere, but I'm just scared, honestly. I never feared losing him like yesterday. I need to start doing as much as good as I can in this world because God can't be this generous to me.“What are you thinking about?” Bangizwe asked. I didn't even realise he was awake.“Are you sure you're okay, Bangi? You were unconscious yesterday.”“Why would I lie to you?” He's a man. They lie for many reasons.“Because you think i care more about the wedding than you. I don't mind with just signing in court honestly, but what would I be without you?” I was now lying on top of him as I stared at him.“I want to see you in your pretty dress walking towards me, knowing that you fully belong to me, baby girl. Forever till whenever?” I shook my head.“This is not the time for vows, ba
59.AVETHANDWA SISULUHonestly, this week rushed. How is it that it's Thursday already? Everything feels like it's happening all fast and honestly as much as i love celebrating but I can't wait for the aftermath of the wedding when I'm just relaxing and listening to myself think because right now I can't. I mean, how can I when such loud music is blasting through the speakers? I'm just feeling so overwhelmed, and it's unlike me. I believe it's the wedding jitters.“Are you gonna be in here forever? People are waiting for you out there.” Khanyiswa walked in, holding a box that she opened. “This is your 'being Mrs Mboyo' sash. Put it on, and let's go out there.” I stood up, and she put it on me. It was grey written in white. My dress was white, flowy and long. It felt so comfortable.“Let's go.” I did a breath in and out before walking out with Khanyiswa. My dad's house was turned into a club honestly, and he was not here to see for himself, but my aunts were as well as my grandma. I wa
58.AVETHANDWA SISULUPreparing for a wedding has to be one hardest job ever. The wedding is next week but I have to go to Cape Town this week to fit on the dress so that the designer can make adjustments for the big day. All thanks to Nompilo, Lunghani's girlfriend. That girl is my wedding planner, and she's been doing a great job. She's really good at her job and when Tinyeleti referred me to her, I was shocked because I didn't know she was an event planner, let alone a wedding planner but with eleven perfectly planned weddings, i knew she could be trusted. “Here it looks like I was getting married to you instead of your brother.” Mbuso walked to the couch with a plate of rice, and I showed him my phone. It was one of the videos at my lobola negotiations this past weekend.“What can I say? Your man didn't want to dance. I had to step in.” He grinned while stuffing himself with food. I grabbed a drumstick from his plate and took a bite. “Hey, that's my meat. Go make your own food.”
57.BANGIZWE MBOYOI could feel someone poking at my eyes as I slept, so I was forced to finally open them and my eyes set on Mihla. I sat upright to face her.“You're not supposed to be in my bedroom.” She rolled back her little eyes. This is one hell of a girl with an attitude.“And you're supposed to be in mine?” She sat cross-legged on the bed with her arms crossed.“No. We meet in the lounge and interact.”“Dad?” Her face suddenly morphed into sadness.“Hmm?”“Do you think you'll give me cuddles at night like mom used to?”“Mihla, you're 12.”“I am Mom's only daughter, Daddy. She treated me like a baby, and I've never had a dad before. I don't know how to behave.” I've never been a dad too, and I honestly don't know how to be one, but I love her. I just don't think I'm good at showing her. It still feels like I'm her uncle sometimes, and all I have to do is to be there, but there's a difference between being a dad and being an uncle. I'm her dad.“Come here.” She moved closer to
56.AVETHANDWA SISULUAfter work, I drove to the mall. I walked to McDonald's to buy food because I wanted a takeaway away, really. I walked to Checkers Liquor for a six-pack of Bernini, and when I was done, I came across a floral shop, and I was tempted to walk in, and I did.“Welcome to Flora's Florals. How can we help you?” The lady in there welcomed me. The shop smelled like all sorts of flowers.“I want a bouquet.” I looked around.“Which ones caught your interest?” My eyes were set on the white roses. I honestly can't wait to get married. My wedding has to be something out of this world. “Ah, the white roses. They are something, aren't they?”“Can I have three of them?” The lady nodded and started to prepare my bouquet before she handed it to me. I gave her my card to settle the bill, and when I was done, I walked out of the floral shop to my car. Bangizwe brought the Honda Civic Type R a week ago because he was tired of picking me up every day.My phone rang as I got in the car
55.AVETHANDWA SISULULast night I wasn't supposed to come here. I was supposed to go home but I came to Bangizwe's place because I've been stalling. I don't wanna tell my dad about my engagement. The first thing I did when I opened my eyes was to stare at my trillion-shaped diamond ring. It looks so good on me. I never thought I could love a ring like I do right now. A whole me? Someone's fiancee? I never believed a man could ever love me, let alone show marriage interest. The said man walked out of his closet in tracksuits. I yawned and sat upright.“Where are you going?” He grabbed a watch on his nightstand and put it on.“On a run.” A run? Since when? There's a home gym for a reason. He walks closer to the bed and crouch down to peck my lips, but I glance down at his trackpants.“In that?” He stared at them too, frowning.“What's wrong with them?”“They are showing the particulars.” Can't he see the outline of his dick on them because I can. Who is he going to show, too?“You're s
15.MBUSO MBOYOIt has always been a tradition that we celebrate our birthday for three days. The first day was yesterday and it was dedicated to me, the fun brother as I would like to describe myself. The word fun is embedded in me. The party last night was lit, that goes without saying. I get off
13.AVETHANDWA SISULUA black Lamborgini was parked outside. It was a two door car and the doors went up when opened. Bangizwe opened the door for me and I got in. The inside was just as amazing as the outside. It also smelled so good. This is a beast of a car.“Where are we going?” I nervously ask
9.AVETHANDWA SISULUSomeone shook me, and i opened my eyes. It was Tinyeleti. I groaned because she woke me early, and my head was throbbing. She put forth a smoothie bottle.“Take this. It's gonna make you feel better.” I grabbed it from her before sitting upright. I rubbed my eyes because when I
31.AVETHANDWA SISULUI lay awake in bed thinking of how the day is gonna go. Maybe i should go to that lunch with my aunt. I'm too old for her love anyway, but she's still the same younger sister of my dad. They had quite a tight relationship back in the day. Living in the past is not gonna help a
