AVETHANDWA SISULU
The date has been going on quite well despite how it started. The food was great and the conversation was flowing. So far he was just talking about his brothers and his work. He's an auditor. He audits all his family companies even though he haven't yet told me how they came to own them but I'm still going to dig. If he and I were ever to date which is highly impossible, I want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into.
“How come you own these businesses? Did you inherit them?” The wine was sinking in and the meal was hitting the right spots.
“We did. Our parents died and we inherited everything.”
“Is it just the three of you?” Surely there are more siblings, isn't it?
“You haven't answered any questions I've asked about your parents. This feels like 99 questions about my family.” He pointed out.
“It's 100 questions and only one for my family which I answered. What are we doing here if we are hiding things from each other?” This has been useless.
“I could ask the same but it's fine. No family questions.” I'll only stop because I'm not willing to answer any questions about my family. Nobody wants to hear about your other parent murdering the other one. His phone rang and he took it out to answer it.
“Yeah?” His demeanour suddenly changed. He became a different person and was suddenly serious.
“I'm busy. Can't you do it?” He was clenching his jaws and fists. He's definitely hiding something. Why am I even here with him? Oh right Tinyeleti. My grandma used to tell me that there's always something wrong about rich people whose wealth can't be accustomed to and i used to say she was exaggerating that people actually goes to school to study and then graduates and work and build big houses but as I grew up, i realised that it's possible to be rich without school and not every wealth was acquired through the right processes like the Mboyo wealth. I have a peaceful life. I'm not trying to find myself in the middle of a shady one.
“I'll come.” He hung up and stared at me. “We have to go.” Say no more. I stood up and collected my phone and bag. He also stood up and picked up his phone and car keys.
“Aren't you gonna settle the bill?”
“I own the restaurant, sweetheart. It's taken out of my tab.” So arrogant.
“Right, good to know.”
“You can always come to eat here and they will put you on my tab.” I was now following him outside.
“No thanks. I'll stick to what I can afford.” We got in his car and he drove in silence. I was deep in thought that I didn't even realise when we had reached my place.
“Um... thank you for today but I don't wanna ever see you again.” I don't have to smile or be polite, my honesty is enough.
“Ouch. Why? Was it the food?” He's seriously gonna ask that?
“I don't have to answer that.” I opened the door and walked out of the car to my own apartment. I switched on the lights and almost screamed when I saw Tinyeleti eating ice cream in the dark.
“What the hell?”
“You're early. Why am I surprised? So how was the date?” I sighed and walked to the couch and threw myself on it.
“Terrible.” I took off my sneakers. You'll think I made a little effort to look pretty but I was just in my jeans and some black fancy top from Tinyeleti. I looked casual.
“It couldn't have been that bad.” She laughed.
“Trust me it was. One moment we are eating and the next moment he's answering a call and then he tells me we have to go. How long do you have to wait before you catch feelings for someone?”
“It just happens.” She leaves her ice cream. “I think you're just uninterested. You don't want to let anyone in so you find faults in them. You do know that I'm the only person who isn't family that you actually let in? And you don't even treat me like a friend.” She had this look of pity on her face.
“I consider you a sibling.” She smiles and hugs me randomly.
“I think I love you Ave.” I push her off me and she laughs. “But honestly was the date all that bad or you just didn't want to go out with him?”
“It was that bad. Can we speak about something different, please?” She rolls her eyes and backs away from me. There's too much space on the couch anyway.
“Mom says our Star girl is growing.” Star girl is her baby. Her name is actually Gracie. It's a little old-fashioned name but she was named by her grandma.
“When is she visiting us?” I'm not fond of kids but I'm definitely fond of her daughter. I was there when she was born and I have been attached since then.
“Not anytime soon. I want to forget that I'm someone's mother for a while—oh before I forget, my brother is throwing a little get-together next weekend. It would be great if you could come.” I've met her brother once or twice and well let me just say that I don't have a type but her brother is handsome. He's such a good-looking guy that you never stop staring at him but he never sees me which is fine because what am I gonna do with a guy eight years older than me?
“Not that smile please.” She was irritated with me. She thinks it's gross that I kind of have a crush on her brother.
“What smile? I'm just happy to be invited somewhere.” I stand up.
“My brother is not your soulmate trust me. He's just a womaniser. You deserve better.” It's good that she thinks best of me but hey, I'm still just a girl who sleeps with a vibrator sometimes. Being weird and awkward doesn't take away all the horniness.

I'm not expecting anyone and Tinyeleti never knocks, she always bulldozes in so I get a little surprised when I hear a knock on the door. It's a Friday night and there's honestly so much I could watch on the TV. I take my ass to the door and open it to see who is knocking at this time of the night.
“Hi?” Mbuso waltzes in holding a pack of Savanna. He wasn't kidding the other day, was he?
“Your day was that boring?” I close the door behind him and follow him to the couch.
“It was, princess. You don't wanna know. You're my only entertainment at this point.” I sit down next to him and grab the TV remote.
“What do you wanna watch?” I scroll on Prime Video for a movie that may catch my attention.
“Do you always wear these small shorts when you're alone?” He was staring at my shorts. Yes, they are very short but I'm at home.
“Eyes on the TV, pervert.” He should stop staring at me. He isn't getting inside these shorts anyway.
“I'm just appreciating nice things. My brother told me about your date yesterday.” Great, another person.
“How about Picture This?” I stare at him and he stares at the screen.
“It's romance. What if they start having sex? Who's gonna help me if I get a boner?” I glare at him.
“Do you want to leave?”
“I'm just kidding. Do you ever smile or laugh? Except for when you're drunk?” His smile irritates me. He just makes me so angry sometimes and surprisingly I don't hate him.
“No. I eat little boys for dinner.” I grab the remote from the couch and continue with my quest. “I'm gonna settle with To Catch A Killer. Maybe they'll teach me something about m.urdering a friend.”
“At least I'm a friend.” I roll my eyes and stare at the screen. He opens the six-pack and offers me a Savanna. I take it. I'm gonna drink this one only. No getting drunk this time. It's good that there's a bottle of water here.
47.AVETHANDWA SISULUI felt so heartbroken. I always said if Bangizwe was ever to cheat on me then I would panelbeat his sidechick and forgive him because I wouldn't have given him up for another girl but this? How do I forgive the man who is the reason my mother is lying in the graveyard and my dad spent 11 years of his life in prison? I asked him if he's into human trafficking and he stared into my eyes and said no. He lied to me. It's crazy how I can forgive someone being a murderer but not a person who traffick humans. How? Where do I start?“Get up. I brought you food.” Uuka waltzed into my bedroom with a tray of food. I sat upright and wiped the unending tears on my face. My heart is so broken. I feel like ripping it out of my bed. I hate that I'm hurting like this. Crying over him like this. I'm so pathetic.“I'm not hungry.” He sat on the bed and placed the tray on my nightstand.“When you left in the morning, you said we have to do wine and snacks. I'll bring them but first
46.BANGIZWE MBOYOI was going out of my mind knowing that I couldn't find her. Most of the people at her workplace were hospitalised because whatever they burned was toxic. Someone targeted her specifically. I've tried so much to protect her from my crime life, but it seems like people know that she's my weakness. I'm trying my best to calm my racing heart because I honestly don't know what i will do if something happens to her. There's only one thing I can do to protect her all my life, but I know very well she's gonna refuse, but at this point, it's my only choice.“Boss, her location just pinged. She's at a cabin just outside the city. It's thirty minutes away.” Seth informed me. I got up quickly and grabbed a loaded handgun from the table. I tucked it on my waist and grabbed a jacket while I followed my men outside. The two SUVs were already ready, and I got in in one of them with Seth.“Anything about who owns a cabin?” He clicked on his laptop and then suddenly stopped. From th
45.AVETHANDWA SISULUI was running late. There's a boardroom meeting at work today and due to working late at night, I'm running late. I rushed into the kitchen to grab something to eat and found Uuka having his breakfast.“Morning. Please tell dad to cook today. I'm tired of cooking all the time because I'm the only one who can.” I may be late but not late to say my piece of mind. Since I started staying here on Sunday, I've been cooking everyday. It's Thursday now.“Then you should order some take aways for us.” Me? Me?“That's child abuse Uuka. You're both older than me. Why should it be me who spend their money?” He scoffs.“You got paid a week ago. What are you doing with your money?” Obviously I'm not answering that but does he see the butterfly locs on my head? Does he see the nails?“Uuka, you spend the whole day sitting at home. How do you make money because I know you don't own any diamond mine?” The mine can't be his. He got out of prison a year ago. Where was the mine all
44.AVETHANDWA SISULUIt's been a week with Bangizwe attending therapy, and I only attended one session with him. It's Friday today but also the day I get paid. I can't wait for my first salary. We are having a half day and I'll be driving to the mall. I can't wait to call my grandma as I send her some of the money. That's a girl who deserves to eat my money with me. One thing that's happening today is that Mihla is visiting. Bangizwe wants to see her state of mind to see if telling her about being his dad would be appropriate. My man is trying so hard. He genuinely wants Mihla under the same roof as him. He wants a relationship with her, but this is a pre-teen we are talking about. Anything is possible with them. She may take the news well or worse. Worse is definitely not the drama we are looking for.I hear a knock on my door before Nelly graces me with her signature walks. She has such a beautiful walk. I can watch her walk all day.“Hey baby bear.” She pulls a chair and sits down
43.AVETHANDWA SISULUI'm so glad to finally be packing, knowing that I'm leaving for real. It's not about missing Bangizwe only. It's about my work and life. My life is in Joburg. I never thought I could say this, but it is how it is. This house put a roof over teenage Avethandwa, but it didn't limit her. I grew wings, and I flew away, and now home no longer feels like home.“Are you done packing?” Aunt Nobomi walked into my bedroom. She sat on the bed.“I'm finishing up.” I haven't worn all the clothes, so it wasn't that much work.“I love your dress.” I stared at myself. I was wearing a nude bodycon dress. It was short, though, only reaching my mid-thighs. I matched it with brown heels that had laces that reached my knees.“Thank you. Are the twins done packing?” I'm going to be babysitting them back to Joburg. Schools are opening next week, but one of them has a netball camp for the first week in Joburg, and well, you don't separate them, so the other one is tagging along too.“Th
42.AVETHANDWA SISULUOur grandma woke up happy today. She asked us to cook Sunday meal. I booked flight tickets for later because i have work tomorrow. It was only Khanyiswa and I slaving in the kitchen. We both can cook, but I hate cooking. Her on the other side she believes she's a chef. She loves trying new dishes, and that's exactly what she's doing. I'm literally the assistant chef here.“Don't you think something is happening?” I'm marinating the lamb chops. I'm always in charge of the meat.“Something like what?” She's also vlogging. Did I mention that? My iPhone is barely a week old, but it's full of pictures. I wasn't using it that much because I'm still holding on to my old phone while she used it more than me.“Your mom sent us 4k to buy grocery yesterday. She never does that.” Aunt Nobomi is a little stingy, may I say.“She's feeling herself. You know my mom's generosity is rare. Enjoy it while it lasts.” I know my family, and trust me when I say something is happening. I
21.AVETHANDWA SISULUThe triplets went out. They tried to invite me but who goes to a club at 12pm on a Sunday when they have work tommorow? It will be my first day so I need to be refreshed so I decided to stay and explore the house. Now that I stay here I deserve that tour. I avoided bedrooms fo
20.AVETHANDWA SISULUI see blood everywhere. I'm screaming for my mother. I'm crying so hard and I can feel my lungs hurting. She's so bloodied and my white dress is full of blood. My dad picks me up and I cling to him as I wail. There's so much—“Avethandwa?” Someone calls out to me and I open my
19.AVETHANDWA SISULULanga found me at the mall and we got inside the Golf GTI he was driving. It looked brand new. It was dark blue in colour. We were both inside the car as he handed me a Steers paperbag. I can buy myself food. Why is he acting like my boyfriend? He's feeling guilty because he's
17.AVETHANDWA SISULUThat kid is a little problem. She didn't want to go downstairs, so she sent me on errands like fetching her phone from the lounge. I was now going downstairs after giving her her phone when I bumped into her mother. She stood in front of me and folded her arms. I'm not sure I'
