LOGINCATALINA
What do you do when you see the second guy in a crazy drama you had? Well normal people would ask him who he is or something like that. But I am in fact not normal because what I did was scream and run.
He chased after me, I ran faster, crossing the road without looking for a second. Oddly though, the cars didn't come near me, almost as if they wouldn't dare hit me. I ran right into a bus parked in the bus stop and hid in the back seat. Thankfully the driver rode off immediately I hopped in.
I did in fact regret this but that was three hours later, while I was mopping the restaurant’s bathroom floor. I paused and slapped my forehead.
“Uhh what were you thinking?” I threw the mop into the bucket and dragged it half haphazardly out of the bathroom, grumbling all through my work until I ended up in the supply closet where I dumped all my work tools.
The manager asked me to clock out early. He had some business to attend to and apparently all the girls except I, was asked to tag along and complete this business.
“You are still a kid.” He replied when I asked him why. That pissed me off so I walked home mumbling to myself and cursing randomly. When I got to the house, it was already ten past nine and all the maids had gone home except Maria, who lived in.
I sighed as I stomped upstairs. My stomach was grumbling, my legs were weary and the fridge was empty. I didn't want to wake Maria so she could cook for me. That was a bitch thing to do, so I resigned myself to hitting the shower and going to bed on an empty stomach.
I shut my bedroom door after me, taking off the big jersey shirt at the same time. I pulled the zipper on my bum-short and let it slip down my legs as I walked towards the vanity in nothing but a pearl panty and a net bra. My bath towel was hanging next to the vanity. I grabbed it while pulling off the panty and unhooking my bra.
The night was a bit cold so I prepared a hot bath, letting myself sink inside it after I climbed in. The water bubbled, tingling my nipples. That's the sweetest part of a hot bath.
I soaked for about an hour then climbed out. My feet wet the floor as I walked towards the towel. This was always the case everyday except today, the tiles were strangely slippery. I handled myself, slowing my steps so I couldn't fall but I underestimated how slippery the floor had become and so immediately I propped myself up to hang out my towel, the floor slipped me. My toes crunched and I lost balance.
“Eh,” I gasped, struggling to grab hold of something but nothing was close enough. I ended up falling anyway. Impulsively, I threw my hands down to break my fall. It didn't work completely. My ankle hit the floor hard and a crack echoed through the room followed by my scream. “Ah!!”
I cupped my mouth, instantly muffling my groan. The pain was sharp, like a blade, piercing my bone and rushing upwards until my whole leg was aching.
I stared at the broken ankle, my eyes welling up in tears. “Fuck,” I groaned. It hurts so much. I opened my mouth and tried to breathe. I can't cry right now. Crying doesn't help anyone.
I scanned the room for the nearest stand I could hold on to and pull myself up. I spotted the tub but I'd have to crawl over there risking the friction creasing against my naked body.
I heaved. That doesn't sound like a sweet idea. I massaged my temple, wiping the line of tears under my eyebrows. My gut knotted and I felt a terrible urge to just cry real hard.
‘What's wrong with me? Since yesterday everything’s been going wrong. Oh hell, I feel so freaking cursed.’
“Catalina, what happened?”
I froze. My eyes rolled to the bathroom door. ‘I must have heard wrong, right?’
“Catalina you are not talking.”
My eyes grew wide.
William is at my bathroom door. He is really at my bathroom door.
“Stay where you are!” was the first thing that came to my mind. I heard a loud scoff.
“Why would I want to see you naked.” he sounded disgusted. My eyes darkened. He didn't have to sound like that to prove his point.
“Why are you in my room?”
“Why wouldn't I be? It's hard to play deaf when the person in the next room just screamed like her heart fell down the stairs.”
I covered my mouth. He heard my voice. He is here because he heard my voice. I bit my lip and stared at the floor. That thought made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
“I.. I broke my ankle.”
“Honestly? What, were you walking around with your eyes closed?” He mocked me.
I frowned. “You know what, get the hell out of here!” I threw a fit. He chuckled.
“Are you sure? My guess is, you can't get up. If I leave, you will sleep on your bathroom floor till around 8am maybe when Maria comes to clean your room.”
The frown on my face vanished. He was right. Admitting it felt more sickening than listening to his cold, baritone voice.
I heard him sigh then I heard his footsteps disappear into my room. A moment later, he came back to the door.
“I grabbed the biggest bedsheet I could find. I will come in with a blind fold. I will give you the sheets, use it to wrap yourself up so I can take off the blind fold and help you into your room. Understood?”
“Mhmm.” I mumbled.
The door creaked, he was coming in. Just like he said, he was wearing a blindfold and he had a bedsheet on his right hand. I swaddled myself like a baby then I looked up to him.
“You can take it off now.”
He slipped a finger underneath the strap of cloth over his eyes and pulled it off. His gaze met mine immediately he opened his eyes. Up close like this, you could see that his grey pupils were actually an alluring shade of misty blue with a red glow and his jaw was sharper than any I'd ever seen. He looked like he wasn't human.
He stretched out his hand to me. I reached for it and I touched him. The moment fingers interlocked, a surge of energy rushed through his veins and electrocuted me.
“Ahh!!”
CATALINA“Help me!!!!” I yelled on top of my lungs, never mind the tears soaking my face and the sobs strangling my voice. I could feel him closing in. The sound of his hefty strides and his heavy breathing. I knew I was done for but I refused to let go of the door.He grabbed my arm and yanked violently. I held on tighter, digging my nails into the metal. He yanked again, harder than my body could withstand. My nails creased off that knob, breaking in the process. He pulled me across the room and slammed my back against the hard floor. “Uh,” a grunt tore from my throat. He wrapped his hand around my neck and spread out his legs, caging me in-between them.I gasped, fighting for air with my hands flared. I fist only got tighter, forcing me to attack the hand around my neck instead.“S… sto… ple…” I tried to plead but I made strangled sounds instead. He was grinning, with his deep blues fixed on mine, watching the life drain from my eyes. He slipped another hand under my bra and he
CATALINA“After I do, what happens? You will leave right?” He started to rise, with his massive body. His shadow completely swallowed my figure. I shuddered away, stepping back on my knees. He crouched down slowly, pinning me to the floor with just his eyes. He stretched out a hand and stroked my hair behind my ear, brushing the skin on my cheek while he did.I kept my gaze on him, trying not to tremble, not to flinch, not to breathe. He smiled, his lips hiking up from ear to ear. Give him a clown’s makeup and he would become the perfect Halloween nightmare. “Are you trying to pull a fast one on me, little girl?” his voice deepened. He always stretched a word every time he spoke and it only made his voice even creepier.I shook my head vigorously. “I… I would dare.” I mumbled. “I just… I wanna make sure they know that you… you like what’s going on.” “Really?” I nodded slowly. Carefully, I slipped my chin off his palm and kept my eyes on the ground, pretending to be shy. “I know ab
WILLIAM A FEW HOURS AGOI went to an office at the top of skycrapper, after I left Catalina. Hades had called. He hardly ever does so I knew I had to be there. I rode the elevator on my way. For Hades, I wasn't willing to rush. When I arrived, he was leaning over a counter and looking beyond tht edge with so much tenacity. “I didn't peg you to be the type to fancy tiled floors.” I said, strolling into the the room. My shoes clicked against the tiles, the sound invading the silence. This city is crawling with headaches.” Hades grumbled. Then he put a hand on his chin and stroked it. “But sometimes, there's not so bad especially when they look like this.”He pointed downwards. I made it up to him, consciously keeping a definite distance. I leaned against the countet and took a peep. There was a lady, lying on the floor. Her eyes were open wide, but all blood had drained from it. She was still, so still that you could barely hear her heart beating. But it was, and it was getting weake
CATALINA WEDNESDAY,GROK AVENUE 9:PMI stood on the left side of the road, a long brown coat over my shoulders and a furry scarf wrapped around my neck. It was cold tonight. Every exhale drew an icy breath from my lungs and left cold smoke lingering in the light.I rubbed my hands together, then put them on my mouth and twisted my lips. I stared down the road again and again and again. My heeled feet tapped endlessly on the pavement while I shook my head in a desperate attempt to pretend I was listening to music and not actually hyper-anxious.He said he would pick me up by 6 PM. He specifically stated that it was 6. Ginny's uncle didn't come off as someone who wouldn't mind tardiness, so I made sure I was on the road, by the bus stop sign, wearing the clothes he sent me and waiting exactly as he had told me.I exasperatedly stretched my legs. I felt sore, especially in the ankles. I tried to give my calves a massage, hoping to start there and work my way down, but the second I tried
CATALINA My mind failed me in that moment so my body responded to reflect. I tried to squeeze out of his grip but he was like a rock and I was a pillow. There was no way I could move him. He had to let him. I pushed my head back first, bitting back the sensation from the caress of his lips on mine. “Let go.” I mouthed. I could barely hear my own voice. “Your legs are weak. You will fall.” I clenched my teeth harder, struggling with the strange sourness growing in the pit of my stomach and with a freeze that was stiffing my back. William deathly cold — his hands, lips, his breath — like the AC on full blast and the room’s cooling system was icing him from inside out. That wasn't the strangest part of this moment, it was that I was sick to my stomach, frozen to my bones, but if I moved an inch away, I felt like I'd stop breathing entirely. I wanted all of this because it was like I had a chance to feel him, to have him. William let go immediately. I wobbled, my knees buckling. He w
CATALINA I drew closer, pushing the door a tad bit so the gap could get bigger. From behind, squatting down a little, I watched as the reaper flaunted every figure skating skill I knew with a type of creative mastery I had never seen before. It was like staring at a black swan or a dark Angel; cynical, evil and yet still so beautiful. I dared not interrupt him, I could never. I bet even Charles doesn't know that the reaper has this side of him. Watching him, enchanted by his graceful gliding on ice, the ease, the calmness, the effortlessly magnificent transition between a skate and a technique— made me start to think that perhaps there is some life somewhere inside that black heart and it was responsible for this polar opposite persona before my eyes.Unconsciously, I noticed that the melody of the music started to fade slowly. The song was coming to an end. He was about to draw the curtains with a finishing act. My heart started to beat faster because of the anticipation. I squeeze
CATALINA “Hey what took you so long,” I asked Charles while he was carefully opening the passenger seat door. “Nothing.” He stepped aside, gesturing like a butler to the seat. “After you.”“Thank you.” I flashed him a warm smile then hopped right in. He shut the door nicely. Then went round to the
CHARLES Unknowingly, a grin planted itself on my lips and refused to leave. I stayed fixed by the door watching Catalina, with hands on her hips and a grimace on her face while she beefed with Fate. No doubt Fate was enjoying it. “You know what, I think you are a fraud. Carrying curses from a past
CHARLES“After you,” I said, pooping the backseat door open from her. “Thank you.” She beamed, flopping in with a gentleness that I couldn't help but admire. She was careful with placing her legs in the car, minimizing the area where the dirt in her shoes affected.I shut the door, my lips curled i
CHARLESI felt him leave the house, literally. The room warmed out, the coldness faded, the lights brightened and the flowers began to unwither.I clicked my tongue, stilling my gaze on the watches in glass cases on the shelf. They were restarting, reverting back to normal. Just by standing there,
