INICIAR SESIÓNCATALINA
William flung his hand away as fast as he could. The shock ceased the instant we stopped touching. I wrapped my other hand around my wrist and groaned. My expression contorted because of the spasms of pain. It was like I had been scalded but there were no scars.
William hissed. He sounded more irritated by the outcome than I was. “You’ve met him, haven't you? That's the only explanation for this… mishap.”
“What the hell are you talking about,” I started slow. Suddenly I didn't have any strength left in my body. “You hurt me, you son of a bitch. You should be apologizing and explaining what the hell just happened.”
He turned and left me there, just like that.
“Asshole!!” I yelled behind him. How can someone be so heartless. Nevermind, I don't want him here anymore. I will figure myself out one way or the other.
My eyes skipped from the floor to the tub and then everywhere else. There was still nothing close by to help me get off the floor. My expression twisted into something mixed with anger and self loathing. I scoffed at myself and muttered.
“Fuck it. Who am I kidding? I'm stuck here and he is not coming back. People don't come back for someone like me.”
I sucked in a breath, looking up in an attempt to let the little breeze lingering in the room dry the tears pooling in my eyes. Just then, before I could continue hating myself, I heard footsteps coming from inside my room and faint voices.
My gaze trained on the door immediately, unconsciously fisting the sheets and holding it way above my chest. Oddly enough, I recognized both voices.
“Are you certain that's what happened?” one of the voices asked.
“Is that a real question?” The other replied with a voice dripping with venom.
“You could have just said, ‘Yes’. Violence is never the answer,” the softer voice scolded lightly.
Shortly after he said that, they both turned into the bathroom. My hand quivered while my eyes refused to blink. The footsteps grew closer and closer until both men stepped into the light of the bathroom’s fluorescent bulbs.
My heart stopped cold.
I was right but that was the scariest part of this revelation. The two men stared down at me with their odd colored eyes. One of them was William and the other was the flying man.
It took me three thousand years to finally blink and let out the breath I had been holding in. The next thing I did was turn around and lie down on the floor. It's official, I'm dreaming again. I just need to close my eyes and clear my mind and I will wake up immediately.
“You are not dreaming, Catalina.”
The voice came from right next to me. My eyes shot open immediately. I scampered back out of impulse. He retreated a little like he was worried he had scared me.
“Stay away from me!” I yelled. “Maria! Maria! Maria!” I shouted her name on the top of my lungs. Dream or no dream, I was still naked in a bathroom with two strange men. I had to save myself first.
“She won't hear you. I made sure of that. If I were you, I'd quit freaking it out and try to understand what's going on.” William advised, a deadpanned expression on his face.
My heart was slamming against my chest, goosebumps riddled my skin, my head was suddenly throbbing but somehow, amidst this rollercoaster of emotions, William’s words found a way to make total sense to me.
I trailed my gaze from William to the flying man. He smiled at me.
“Are we good?” he asked.
I tilted my head to the side, making a gesture that meant I wasn't sure.
“Fair enough,” he said, moving towards me. “Don't worry it won't hurt when you hold onto me.”
I stretched out my hand. There was just something about him that made me want to believe anything he said. William hissed and left the bathroom. Don't know what his problem is.
The flying man pulled me off the floor and into his arms, like I was a weightless piece of paper. Then he set me down on the bed inside. I spotted William from the corner of my eyes. He was sitting in the dark.
“I'm sorry, where are my manners,” He extended his hand for a shake. “I am Charles, an angel. It's nice to see you all grown up, Catalina.”
“You know me?” I left his hand hanging.
“Yes of course. I know everyone in the world actually.”
I quirked a brow. “What?”
“Let me explain. Well…” he paused and stroked his chin. “Actually I just realized I have a lot of things to tell you. It would have been easier if you lost the memories of last night. I still can't wrap my head around why you didn't. But nevertheless, I guess I have to start from somewhere.”
To my ears, he was blabbering.
A chair creaked in the corner, followed by a deep dry voice. “You will have plenty of time to brief her on our way to hell. She needs to go see Hades remember. We can’t postpone it. You know how Hades can be.”
Charles turned his gaze to William who was coming up to us. William grabbed Charles by the arm.
“Let's give her some privacy. She needs to change.”
“Wait, do I even get a say in this.”
“No.” William answered bluntly. The two men left the room and shut the door behind them.
My shoulders dropped and I heaved a sigh of relief. Until now, I didn't realize how tense I was.
‘What the hell is going on? Hades, electrocuting touch, angels — gosh, I'm getting more confused. It sounds like I'm trapped in a creepy storybook.’
I let out a puff of air, unconsciously standing up to go to my closet. I took two fell steps before I realized; I was walking… perfectly. That's impossible. A broken ankle takes weeks to heal. I was in an accident before so I know.
There was only one explanation. I grabbed my underwear, a big sweater and mini jeans. I wiggled into my clothes and headed straight outside. Immediately I opened the door, the first thing I did was look Charles right in the eye.
“If you are an Angel, does it mean I'm dead?”
He chuckled. “No, no. Certainly not.” He stepped aside, ‘Ladies first,’ his eyes told me. “You are just a special kind of person with the power to dwell amongst the living and the dead.”
“Why are we going to Hades? He is the guy who lords over hell right?”
Charles nodded. “We are going there because… well you see, Catalina you made a very peculiar wish and your wish has disrupted the balance between earth and Hell.”
“Wow,” I reacted, looking at him at the same time.
“You are a very special kind of person Catalina. You could end the world if you wanted to.”

CATALINA“Help me!!!!” I yelled on top of my lungs, never mind the tears soaking my face and the sobs strangling my voice. I could feel him closing in. The sound of his hefty strides and his heavy breathing. I knew I was done for but I refused to let go of the door.He grabbed my arm and yanked violently. I held on tighter, digging my nails into the metal. He yanked again, harder than my body could withstand. My nails creased off that knob, breaking in the process. He pulled me across the room and slammed my back against the hard floor. “Uh,” a grunt tore from my throat. He wrapped his hand around my neck and spread out his legs, caging me in-between them.I gasped, fighting for air with my hands flared. I fist only got tighter, forcing me to attack the hand around my neck instead.“S… sto… ple…” I tried to plead but I made strangled sounds instead. He was grinning, with his deep blues fixed on mine, watching the life drain from my eyes. He slipped another hand under my bra and he
CATALINA“After I do, what happens? You will leave right?” He started to rise, with his massive body. His shadow completely swallowed my figure. I shuddered away, stepping back on my knees. He crouched down slowly, pinning me to the floor with just his eyes. He stretched out a hand and stroked my hair behind my ear, brushing the skin on my cheek while he did.I kept my gaze on him, trying not to tremble, not to flinch, not to breathe. He smiled, his lips hiking up from ear to ear. Give him a clown’s makeup and he would become the perfect Halloween nightmare. “Are you trying to pull a fast one on me, little girl?” his voice deepened. He always stretched a word every time he spoke and it only made his voice even creepier.I shook my head vigorously. “I… I would dare.” I mumbled. “I just… I wanna make sure they know that you… you like what’s going on.” “Really?” I nodded slowly. Carefully, I slipped my chin off his palm and kept my eyes on the ground, pretending to be shy. “I know ab
WILLIAM A FEW HOURS AGOI went to an office at the top of skycrapper, after I left Catalina. Hades had called. He hardly ever does so I knew I had to be there. I rode the elevator on my way. For Hades, I wasn't willing to rush. When I arrived, he was leaning over a counter and looking beyond tht edge with so much tenacity. “I didn't peg you to be the type to fancy tiled floors.” I said, strolling into the the room. My shoes clicked against the tiles, the sound invading the silence. This city is crawling with headaches.” Hades grumbled. Then he put a hand on his chin and stroked it. “But sometimes, there's not so bad especially when they look like this.”He pointed downwards. I made it up to him, consciously keeping a definite distance. I leaned against the countet and took a peep. There was a lady, lying on the floor. Her eyes were open wide, but all blood had drained from it. She was still, so still that you could barely hear her heart beating. But it was, and it was getting weake
CATALINA WEDNESDAY,GROK AVENUE 9:PMI stood on the left side of the road, a long brown coat over my shoulders and a furry scarf wrapped around my neck. It was cold tonight. Every exhale drew an icy breath from my lungs and left cold smoke lingering in the light.I rubbed my hands together, then put them on my mouth and twisted my lips. I stared down the road again and again and again. My heeled feet tapped endlessly on the pavement while I shook my head in a desperate attempt to pretend I was listening to music and not actually hyper-anxious.He said he would pick me up by 6 PM. He specifically stated that it was 6. Ginny's uncle didn't come off as someone who wouldn't mind tardiness, so I made sure I was on the road, by the bus stop sign, wearing the clothes he sent me and waiting exactly as he had told me.I exasperatedly stretched my legs. I felt sore, especially in the ankles. I tried to give my calves a massage, hoping to start there and work my way down, but the second I tried
CATALINA My mind failed me in that moment so my body responded to reflect. I tried to squeeze out of his grip but he was like a rock and I was a pillow. There was no way I could move him. He had to let him. I pushed my head back first, bitting back the sensation from the caress of his lips on mine. “Let go.” I mouthed. I could barely hear my own voice. “Your legs are weak. You will fall.” I clenched my teeth harder, struggling with the strange sourness growing in the pit of my stomach and with a freeze that was stiffing my back. William deathly cold — his hands, lips, his breath — like the AC on full blast and the room’s cooling system was icing him from inside out. That wasn't the strangest part of this moment, it was that I was sick to my stomach, frozen to my bones, but if I moved an inch away, I felt like I'd stop breathing entirely. I wanted all of this because it was like I had a chance to feel him, to have him. William let go immediately. I wobbled, my knees buckling. He w
CATALINA I drew closer, pushing the door a tad bit so the gap could get bigger. From behind, squatting down a little, I watched as the reaper flaunted every figure skating skill I knew with a type of creative mastery I had never seen before. It was like staring at a black swan or a dark Angel; cynical, evil and yet still so beautiful. I dared not interrupt him, I could never. I bet even Charles doesn't know that the reaper has this side of him. Watching him, enchanted by his graceful gliding on ice, the ease, the calmness, the effortlessly magnificent transition between a skate and a technique— made me start to think that perhaps there is some life somewhere inside that black heart and it was responsible for this polar opposite persona before my eyes.Unconsciously, I noticed that the melody of the music started to fade slowly. The song was coming to an end. He was about to draw the curtains with a finishing act. My heart started to beat faster because of the anticipation. I squeeze
CATALINA I was half awake the whole ride to Charles’ place. Don't ask how. Well maybe half awake if a bit too much exaggeration. I remember opening my eyes but I was passed out for most of the ride. I faintly recall the words William had said to me but I did remember one thing — he was over speedi
WILLIAM“Catalina.” I called out her name, squaring into the waiting room. My eyes caught a glimpse of her immediately I geared in. She was in the center of the room, bending over a frightened woman who was trembling violently. Jagged edges of broken glass were trapped in the skin on her back, bloo
WILLIAM Humans are exactly the same — selfish, sentimental, weak and thoughtless. I knew that already but oddly enough, when Charles granted her a final chance to reverse her decision and save the world, her choice irked me. That was uncommon. Perhaps, just perhaps I expected something from her. S
CATALINA“What's the clock Charles?” I asked him again, as we exited Hell’s gates. “Its an ultimatum — a time task which without your wish cannot be granted. When the reaper tells you what the task is, a clock will start ticking. If you don't finish the task within the time limit then you will… wel
