CHAPTER FOUR

THE APOLOGY

The smoker who slapped him the last time was really on the verge of piercing his cigarette on Prince's hairless chest if he could have his way. So the mob just held him captive until the police came along with Prince's parents.

On arrival, the receptionist dialed the police officer's number so he could recognize her as she talked about her reward. Prince's father, Mr. Harrison shook hands with the receptionist and gave her a cheque of 10 million dollars. 

She rejoiced and grabbed the cheque, bid all her colleagues and boss farewell, and quit her job to start the life that she's always dreamed of. Mrs. Harrison also appreciated the receptionist with an embrace. Her perfume was really expensive when perceived as the fashionista she was. 

Then the crowd gave way when they saw the police and Prince's parents. They handed over Prince to his family and everyone went their way. The media was around then to carve saleable stories that will catch the attention of the populace.

When they got home. "Now, kneel there you stupid boy. Was that how I brought you up?" 

Mr. Harrison reached for his belt to lash his spoilt son but his wife held his hand and pleaded on their son's behalf. 

Mr. Harrison's anger cooled down because he loved and respected his wife dearly and wouldn't want to fight her in the process.

Prince's heart was gladdened but he faked a remorse look and displayed crocodile tears. 

"Look dear, you're scaring him. He's just 21 years old. Youths make lots of mistakes during this age. He will grow up. Please be a patient and understanding father." His wife cajoled.

"Okay, if he doesn't want me to disown him, tell your son to go and apologize to the girl's parents for being a bad boyfriend. And I will stop giving him money. From today, he will work hard for his money. I blame you for his bad upbringing. You are always on his side. All because we were childless for just 10 years and you took him as an egg." Mr. Harrison left for his room in a rage.

"You see what you've caused. You allow your Dad to blame me for showering you with so much love. Now if you want peace in this family, you better go and dress up to do as he says. And you must send me a video of you apologizing to them. How you will do it, I don't know. And if they don't forgive you, that's your cup of tea. Now leave my presence and obey my command!!!" That's the first time Mrs. Harrison ever scolded her son.

As Prince left for his room to dress up for his assignment, his mother said, "Mind you, don't use any car in the garage. Use the remaining money on you as transport fare to her place and you must give me feedback before midnight today."

"Yes, Mom. I'm so sorry for causing you so much pain." He apologized as he dressed up and darted to her place. It was difficult for him to locate her place but he asked her bestie who after some persuasion gave him Rose's address.

When he finally got there, he greeted Rose's parents and humbly laid down flat. Pure guilt made him cry for being too selfish as he introduced himself and apologized.
