LIRA'S POV I couldn't sleep last night, not after what had happened and certainly not when Patrick made another outrageous trip back to my house to threaten me. I couldn't endure this anymore, moving over to the Blood moon pack was easily the worst decision I had ever made in my entire life. I thought I would get the peace and quiet and happiness I always wanted but instead, all I got was having a ravaged beast back in my life and someone else's life in my hands. I had no idea what was inside that syringe but that thing, whatever it was, was now inside Thorne and all evidence would trace back to me. I immediately shut my eyes closed thinking about that, that couldn't happen. Not after everything I had done to keep myself away from situations like this. If only I had just listened to my father and stayed away from Patrick years back, none of this would be happening and I would still be happy in my father's pack and I certainly wouldn't be as helpless as I was right now.
THORNE'S POV My whole body was covered with sweat and they were slicky not to mention the fact that my whole body felt like they were being pricked in the sides by micro sharp needles. And it hurt like hell, I could feel my muscles twitching continuously and it was not a surprise that I couldn't sleep during the first part of the night. I had been trashing around in bed, groaning in pain that had no preamble. It wasn't until Tank came in to check on me in the middle of the night and gave some kind of miracle balm which he claimed healed all kinds of pain. Well, I had to commend him, the pain healed at first but apparently, it was back again and even worse. I couldn't move my body without feeling pain and this morning when I woke up, I had no other choice but to shut Lyra out. I couldn't bate to allow her pass through what I was going through and as long as the mate connection was open, she would feel every bit of the pain that I felt. I tried to remove the be
LYRA'S POV "Are you done?" Edgar asked peeping in through the wardroom door. "Yes." I replied through gritted teeth. "Also, I think it's best you make it a custom to always knock before asking such questions." I added as he walked inside. He totally ignored me though and went to take a seat, again by the door side. "The doctor would be in to check on you any second from now." "Check on me?" I repeated. "But I'm fine, I'm totally alright. It's like nothing ever happened to me." I argued. Well, asides the fatigue which served as a constant reminder, there was nothing else. "Look, I don't have to tell you that it's custom. It doesn't matter if you feel like you've just gotten out of a shower." He shrugged. "He still has to check on you." "Great!" I said with a sigh. "Let's just hope it's fast." I sat back on the bed fiddling my purse and as if on cue. The doctor walked in at the right moment. "Please lie back." He muttered as he walked up to me. I heeded him hesitan
LYRA'S POV My whole body was on fire literally, my head hurt like it was being hit at the same time by several pick axes and it didn’t help that the least I could do in this situation was to writhe in pain. I wondered how I had ended up like this, one minute I was dining quietly in a restaurant with Edgar though, it had been full with playful banter and all that. The other minute, I was right here lying in a crazily uncomfortable bed. I did remember banging my head on table before falling unconscious, how could I not? When the pain still reverberated in my head. The room was suffocating, a fog beclouded my head making it impossible to think or rest. I could also hear voices and the only thing preventing me from believing that it was all in my head was the fact that Edgar's voice was amongst those voices. He was loud and inaudible while the other voice was gentle and easy to make out. I didn't recognise who owned it but his words kind of made me even more ner
LYRA'S POV "You think we are going to get the deal?" I asked Edgar poking at a line of steak in my plate. My face and expression were pretty sullen and the noise from the crowd was definitely enough to jeer me off. "I'm sure we would, you don't have to overthink it Lyra. You really don't have to." He said reassuringly. I let out a heavy sigh. I probably should have talked this over with Thorne, perhaps he would be able to give keen advice. "You're not eating?" Edgar noticed, then he pushed my plate towards me urging me to eat it. "I don't think I want to." I replied. Edgar raised an eyebrow, noticing his eyes and the way his lips just randomly twitched sideways, I could see that he was torn between seeing this as an amusing situation and a serious one. "You really are working yourself up over nothing, Lyra." He let out the smile he had been holding for far too long. "I don't think I am." I shook my head and took a sip at my soda."If the Ultima a
LIRA'S POV "Thanks for the ride." I expressed my gratitude while waving at Chloe and Lucy in the car as they drove away. Another day returning home from work after my night's shift. I was tired, who wouldn't be? Especially as today was kind of like the worst experience of my life. It wasn't something really bad, just an encounter with two very unbearable and demanding customers who weren't satisfied with everything I did. Criticizing everything I did and even my clothes down from the colour of hair I had to the nails om my feet. I only later realized they were rogues, correction, I didn't realize, they had made it known to me, they would have known me from the time I spent in Patrick's rogue pack. I would have guessed from their scent that they were rogues but they had been hiding it for a reason apparently. I waited till Chloe's car was out of sight before I made my way inside, the evening was a bit on the sunny side today and the time on my wristwatch showed half pas
