LIRA'S POV

My heart was thumping, my legs were shaking and my kidneys were failing! Well, not exactly failing but right now I was begining to breathe at the same place with an ambulance siren or even with a much faster pace.

"Hello ma'am, Is there something you would like to order?" A waitress approached me.

"Uh, eh…" I stuttered. "W- water, I would just take water." I chuckled nervously while the girl stared at me with a suspicious look.

"I would go get the water." She said and walked away slowly.

I closed my eyes and tried desperately go catch my breath, I had every reason to have an heart attack right now but that just wouldn't be the best way to solve my problems.

Tank had asked me to meet him here at the local restaurant just three hours after he showed up at my house this morning. I knew I shouldn't have picked that call this morning but what else could I do. I certainly couldn't hide from my guilt forever. One way or another, the tru

LYRA'S POV I hissed! So loudly slamming my palm hard against the wall in frustration. "I need to have a talk with Selene and it's urgent." I said with a sigh. "And why is that? I'm sure there are plenty enough people to talk to in the Nightshade. Why exactly would you choose Selene?" I could definitely see her grinning while I head my palm in a tight fist. "It's about Ryan," I said. At least, if Duncan was on the other end of the call and could hear me, he would be able to put two and two together and realize what I meant. If he wasn’t, then this was a total lost cause for me. "I hate to say this Lyra but I don't care about Ryan. Find another healer for your son." She said and just before the line went off, I heard a crash in the background, probably to do with ceramics or stainless, I wasn't sure. I turned back to Tank slouching my shoulders in defeat. "I guess you were right about this one." I hated that he was right, not because I didn't wan

LYRA'S POV I sat back on my bed holding my breath for no reason whatsoever, maybe it was the fear of losing Thorne or the uncertainty of how I might behave to Lira. Speaking of Lira, I never thought I would hate someone who shared my own name as much as I hated her now. I had no idea what to do, right now she was being locked up in the dungeon awaiting her fate which even I was yet to decide. I didn't even know what step to take next, should I be considerate? I wasn't even patient enough to hear what she had to say. Or should I just assume she was a traitor and just go on about the punishment thing? I took a deep breath; regardless, I had to figure out what to do about Thorne before worrying about her. I picked up my phone, which I had dropped a few minutes earlier when I tried calling Duncan, but he wouldn’t pick up. I entered the password for my phone, waiting for it to unlock, and when it did, I went to my contacts, searching for Duncan’s name, which I assumed would be at

LYRA'S POV "Is he getting any better?" I asked Mirabel moving my head an inch forward as she packed up her medical tools. "Obviously, he isn't Lyra. He is out cold and that's even worse than being hot." She said. My head fell as I palmed my face. "So there's nothing you can do?" I questioned. "I don't think I have enough experience to deal with something like this Lyra." She shook her head. "But you're the best doctor in this pack, if you can't heal him, who else would?" I asked her. "I don't know, Lyra, but whatever is going on with Thorne is out of the ordinary. It's not normal," she voiced the very thoughts I had in mind. Of course, I knew it wasn’t ordinary, but I had hoped. Was it a crime to hope? "Have you tried using your healing powers on him?" Mirabel asked me. "Yes, I have but it's not working and I think it only made him worse." I revealed to her. "What do you mean you think? He didn't look as worse as this when I came

  • DESIRED BY MY LYCAN EX AND THE BETA   Chapter 74: 🪞 SOPHIA’S PRIDE, TOO BIG TO HIDE

SOPHIA'S POV "And I would you know that?" I threw at her. I could think of only one person who knew about my being a siren, Duncan and it would be really demeaning of him if I were to figure out that he had told her about it. They were too close, so close that I almost didn't like seeing them both together. "its evident in you somehow, besides, only a magical person would know a magical person." She replied, there was a look on her face that I wouldn't dare call a grin. There was nothing to grin about and just when I thought I had faced the highest disrespect of all, Selena closed the door in my face leaving me speechless. "What the heck?" I exclaimed banging hard enough on the door. "How dare you shut the door in my face?" I yelled at her. Selena made no sound from behind the door and it made me look like a frantic wild animal shouting all alone by myself. "This is highly disregarding!" I muttered to myself as I went down the porch stairs. It was my fault an

SOPHIA'S POV "But I can't read!" Lydia yelled angrily at me. "What did you say?" I tilted my head, leaving the door side and moving closer to her. "I said I can't read! I'm only four years old." Good goddess, she had the guts to repeat it. "Turning five in a few months and you're telling me you can't read? Not even a single word from your book? Come on, what have they been teaching you at school?" I questioned her. "I don't know." Lydia shrugged. I couldn't tell if she was unaware of how serious this could be especially if Duncan heard about it or if she was just being naturally careless and indifferent. "How is this possible?" I asked no one in particular. "Are you asking me that?" Lydia folded her arms up. "I wasn't talking to you Lydia." I shut her up. "I seem to be the only person here, asides you that is." She made a face at me while I hissed. "One more word from you Lydia and I would see to it that you lose a li
