NARRATOR'S POV.The huge front door suddenly flew open, causing her to shudder and drop the vase that was in her hands. She looked at the direction of the door and she saw her daughter walk in, furiously. The girl was visibly upset and her mother could not help but notice how red her face and ears were. Immediately Lauren Miller got into her house, she quickly rushed to the stairs, hoping to ascend up to her room but her mother's call stopped her. She turned around and for the first time since she came into the house, she noticed that her mother was there. She noticed the broken vase at the feet of her mother and she noticed how worried the woman looked. She walked to where the woman was standing. "Yes mother." Lauren broke the silence."Are you alright, Lauren?" Her mother asked."Why will I be?" Lauren answered."What is wrong?" Her mother asked again."Oh mother. Guess who I saw at Ron's office today?... The sudden sound of the door hitting the wall woke him up and he sprang up on the bed swiftly, looking at the direction of the door. It was his father, the man was the one who barged into his room, flung his door open so hard it hit the wall. His father was still in his night garments, a pajamas. The man was equally looking angry, upset and disappointed. Ron could see the man's face and ears burning up and the shade of red on them was so bright, smoke was coming out of the man's ears. Behind the man was his mother. She was in her red, silk night robe and she looked - scared. The man did not stop at barging into his room, his father walked over to him on the bed and delivered on his face, a hard, jaw breaking blow. The blow was a hard one and it knocked Ron over on the bed, he fell face flat on the bed. He could taste the blood in his mouth and he could see the crimson hue drag from his mouth and drop on the white sheets on the bed. He could feel the aching of the fresh wound in his

Two knocks on the huge door was all it took for the servants to open it up. It was a middle aged woman dressed in a maid's attire that opened the large doors of the Miller family mansion to Gladys Diego. Gladys recognized the maid immediately. She was Susan, the Miller family house keeper. Immediately the woman saw that it was Gladys who was knocking on the door, she opened the door wider for the woman to walk into the house and Gladys did. "Good day, Mrs Diego." The housekeeper finally greeted Gladys when she had securely locked the door again."Good day, Susan. Is Mr Miller in?" Gladys responded."Oh surely. Let me go tell him you are waiting." The housekeeper replied.The maid turned around swiftly and ascended the stairs. Gladys still stood at the spot where the maid left her at. She could not help but notice the cold welcome and how she wasn't offered even a seat and she was a lier if she said she didn't know why. But that is why she was there in the first place. Several minutes passed and the two women did not make any move from where they stood, they did not take their eyes off each other either. They just stood there, each calculating the other's next step. The tension between them was thick and choking.After several minutes, Lauren made the first step. Walking slowly, she walked towards the woman standing opposite her and when she got so close to Sarah, she stopped. The whole time, their eyes never left each other. "Your flirting with my man now extends to his office?" Lauren asked first, breaking the silence.Sarah scoffed. She did not reply."Now let me tell you, flirt with Ron all you want but I assure you that at the end of the day, I will get his ring and last name."Sarah did not reply to that either. He woke up early. He took his bathe and dressed up in a grey two-piece suit with black shoes and an ice wrist watch wrapped around his wrist. His dark hair neatly styled and his beards well combed.He was standing infront of his large sized, golden frame mirror, admiring himself when the door of his room cracked open. He looked towards the direction of the door and he could see his mother, she was in the room but she stood by the door. She was wearing a long flowing, cotton black gown. It's sleeves looked like a huge ball on the shoulder and looked sleek from the elbow down to the wrists Her hair was styled backwards and tied in a bun and she wore a light make-up, just something to brighten her face. She looked beautiful.She stood by the door for awhile before she suddenly started walking slowly towards him. "What do you want?" Sarah asked, using a harsh tone.The visitor turned around and when she did, their eyes met and the woman could not help but notice how all grown and mature Sarah Waves had become. It took awhile for the visitor to answer but she did."That is no tone to speak to me." The visitor cautioned Sarah.Sarah did not respond, she just stood there looking at her visitor boringly. When she realised that Sarah wasn't going to apologise or say anything, Sarah's visitor broke the silence."I'm here because of the scandal you are causing." The woman said, calmly."Firstly, I'm not causing scandals. Secondly, I have nothing to say to you." Sarah replied, harshly again."Still hard-headed as always. I thought you might have changed." The sound of tumblers clicking against each other and the crackling laughter of people was what filled the room. It was dinner between the two families and the atmosphere was quite lively. The husbands were gossiping about their wives and the wives about their husbands and even though Lauren and Ron were sitting side by side, they hardly said a word to each other.The merriment was still going on when Peter Diego rose to his feet slowly, tapping his knife on his tumbler. An action to draw everybody's attention and it was in a matter of seconds before he got it.
