Chapter 25 When the Devil Cries
Lucas followed the priest, his every step mimicking every beat of his heart as they went outside Domus Malum. The priest ran to the gates where the nuns were gathered in a circle, their faces worried and in horror. Sister Bella was the first to see the priest and Lucas approaching them, she stood up and wiped her tears.
“Father!” she called. She then saw Lucas behind him, his face distressed.
When the nuns parted their circle, Lucas saw Selene lying on the stone ground, unconscious, blood gushing from every wound, almost pale as a corpse. Lucas bent down on her, his hands trembling as he contemplated where to touch Selene. Finally, he reached for her pulse on her neck, holding his breath and his eyes shaking.

The priest looked at him through his reading glasses.“Because I feel like it is time for you to go back,” he answered, and returned his focus on the book.“Yeah right, and Zera will find out that I have brought you back to life, and therefore will try to kill you again.” Lucas reached for the glass of alcohol sitting on the table and gulped it all down. He felt the sting on his throat and the sweetness immediately sent him relief.

Lucas snarled under his breath. He launched forward to his Father, his golden coloured eyes turned into bloody red, glowing in flames of anger. Faye and Calix barged in when they finally managed to get a spare key from one of the nuns in the parish. Both of them rushed inside together with Sister Bella. They saw Lucas and Selene sitting on the floor, staring at each other. When Selene saw them, she smiled and nudged Lucas. He turned around and met all of their glaring eyes, with Sister Bella’s the most intense. She launched on Lucas and held him on his arms, her eyes widened in great fury. “Where is Father Don?!” she yelled. Selene approached them and held Sister Bella on her shoulders. “Sister Bella, please calm down,” she said softly. Lucas just stared at her with his emotionless eyes, not engaging himself to the rage of the nun. “Please, just tell me what happened to him!” Sister Bella’s grip loosened up as she helplessly wailed in front of him, her eyes squeezed shut as tears continuously flowed on her cheeks.
