Ethan Roilan POV

I froze in place when I saw her lying on the floor like that.

Blood had spread across the ground from her head.

I rushed to her, my steps fast and shaking.

I lifted her and turned her toward me. My trembling hand pressed against her chest, searching for her heartbeat.

Thank God. It was still there.

All of this happened because of me.

Because of the man who was supposed to be her safe place.

The man she trusted with all her secrets.

She trusted me.

She even told me why she accepted my proposal and agreed to be my fiancée.

A tear slipped down my face without warning.

My hands would not stop shaking.

I am not even angry at her.

I am angry for reasons that have nothing to do with her at all.

The truth is, I would be happy if I could free her from her fear of men.

And yes, I noticed that bastard Kaiden holding her hand.

That was just an excuse for me to release my anger.

I carried her small body in my arms. My hands still shaking nonstop.

I went down the stairs. Her head was still bleeding.

I rushed to the kitchen and laid her on the counter, searching for anything to stop the bleeding.

Luckily, I found a first aid kit.

I wrapped the wound without even cleaning it properly.

I was scared. Terrified for her.

If her father finds out, he will tear my head off.

He will turn my life into hell.

Not only her father. Her whole family.

My fear for her made me lose focus. I no longer knew what to do.

I lifted her again, pressing my hand hard against the wound to stop the bleeding.

It would not stop.

I placed her in the back seat of the car after wrapping her head with bandages, praying I would reach the hospital in time so they could stitch it.

I drove like a madman, running several red lights.

Then I heard her phone ringing.

I did not pick it up. I was too focused on driving.

It kept ringing.

About seven calls before it finally stopped.

"I wonder who that is," I muttered.

She does not know anyone here.

The tires screeched loudly as I stopped in front of the hospital.

I took her from the back seat. Her face had started to turn pale.

She had lost a lot of blood.

I ran through the hospital halls like a lunatic, carried her inside a room myself, and asked a nurse to follow me.

They asked me to step outside. I did.

Minutes later, the nurse came out.

Her face was bad news.

Damn it.

Her father trusted me with her.

And I failed that trust.

More nurses came with her. One of them was older.

That made my fear worse.

I leaned against the wall, then slid down to the floor.

My legs could no longer hold me.

After what felt like forever, the older nurse came out.

They had finished stitching the wound.

"The patient’s physical and mental state is not good," she said.

"From the examination, we found that she fainted."

"Severe fear or something similar caused it," she continued.

"As for her body, she is not eating well and not sleeping well. The wound on her head is serious."

How could she be in such a bad state when her fiancé is one of the most famous doctors in the country?

Am I really that negligent?

And she fainted from fear?

Did I scare her that much?

I thought she passed out because of the hit and the head wound.

"She hit the corner of a wall or something sharp. Stitching was difficult because of her hair," the nurse said.

"It is deep and it looks..."

"When will she wake up?" I asked urgently.

"She should wake up within two days," she replied.

"And we suggest she sees a psychiatrist."

I said nothing.

I just watched the doctor’s back as she returned to the room.

Without realizing it, I grabbed the side of my head and stared at the floor.

How will she see me now?

I will definitely take her back to zero.

What did I do?

What did I do to my first love?

The nurse allowed me in.

My legs were shaking nonstop.

I closed the door behind me.

The first thing I saw, and my heart dropped with it, was her small body lying on the bed.

I moved closer and sat on the chair beside her.

I took her hand and kissed it.

She was trying with me.

Trying not to pull away so she could become my wife.

I could see that.

Instead of supporting her, standing by her, this is what I did.

All of this because of...

My thoughts were cut off by the door slamming open.

I turned toward the sound.

Someone I did not expect.

Kaiden.

And a girl with him.

"What is he doing here?"

I was not in the mood to argue or fight.

I ignored his presence and looked back at her face.

"What happened to her?" he asked.

His voice was closer this time. He was standing beside me.

"She fainted. She will wake up in two days," I said calmly, still holding her hand.

"And the reason?"

I will not lie.

I am a man.

That tone would scare anyone gentle.

"It is none of your business."

"Take the fight outside. She needs rest."

The girl with him spoke. Her voice broke as she gasped.

I could no longer stand the small room.

The smell of medicine.

And especially their presence.

The moment I stepped out, the girl rushed inside and took my place.

She grabbed Tara’s hand and started crying.

My chest tightened.

I could not move fast.

Everything felt slow around me.

"My love, who is the bastard that did this to you?" Mira said.

"It is him..." Tara whispered weakly.

Fear and deep sadness filled her eyes.

Kaiden walked out.

His face was turned toward me.

Everything around him pulsed with anger.

It burned in his eyes.

Something boiled inside me.

Heat rose.

My body tensed.

Every nerve screamed danger.

He grabbed the collar of my white shirt and forced me to stand straight the way he wanted.

"Do you know I can file a case against you?" he said, loud enough for the whole world to hear.

I looked at him with empty eyes.

As if telling myself, I have enough already. Do not add more.

"What is your relationship with her to come here?"

"The lawyer. Why are you here?"

"I do not owe you an explanation."

The weight of his words crushed me.

He had all the answers.

Enough to silence me.

"Go pack your bags for prison if she does not wake up in two days."

"The law does not stand with women, counselor."

He turned to leave.

All he gave me was a side smile.

Cold. Sharp. Precise.

Then he walked toward the hospital exit.

He left me standing there.

My heart tight.

My body tense.

My mind filled with fear.

What could a man like Kaiden do?

I stayed there, watching him go.

Trying to calm myself.

Breathing slowly.

Forcing my mind into order.

Trying not to explode.

Tara Blackwood POV"Oh, Kaiden, won’t you help us make the lady my son’s bride?"I understood what he said, and it was clear he was joking. I couldn’t understand why Mr. Ross’s face looked so stern.“That’s impossible, Mr. Ross. This girl belongs to someone else.”He emphasized belongs to someone else. For a moment, I thought he meant Ethan Rowlan, but then I remembered that just mentioning him annoyed Kaiden. The problem was, he made no effort to hide his irritation, both in his tone and on his face.“I’m sorry, miss. I didn’t know that. Your man is lucky anyway.”I blushed at “your man” because I didn’t see Ethan Rowlan as mine—not yet.I was about to respond when his son interrupted, taking my hand and pressing it to his chest. That gesture disgusted me, and he looked into my eyes:“I’m Alexander Ross.”I smiled to hide my tension from his touch.“I’m Tara Blackwood. Pleasure to meet you, Daniel.”He said this while playfully pointing at the poor Marco, who was just joking, and his

Silence ruled the space, and I didn’t like it.I lowered my crossed leg to place it beside the other, causing my thighs to become noticeable.“Keep yourself covered, or I might throw you into the back seat and take that softness between my hands until it changes color.”I looked at him, tense and afraid. There was something terrifying about how calmly he said that. I gripped the edges of my coat over my thighs, protecting myself like he instructed.More minutes passed.I got bored staring straight at him, so I stole a glance from the corner of my eye. I noticed his eyes—was it sadness or anger?—focused ahead on the road.“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming to pick me up?”I crossed my arms and said it angrily, this time turning my head t

  • Daddy’s Best Friend, My Ruin   You’d Better Suck It

Tara Blackwood POVI was so tired of just sitting there, so I laid my head down on the pillow. I stretched out on the bed, lying on my stomach, keeping the phone in front of me, doing my best not to let my body show on camera.A full minute passed, and we were both locked in each other's gaze.“Tell me, Tara, why are you so determined to end us?”He grabbed my attention by breaking the silence. Ending this relationship and not going back was a decision my mind made, and I know my mind’s decisions are selfish when it comes to me.I was about to speak, but he cut me off.“You know we could stay together instead of breaking up like this.”“Weren’t you the one who started pulling away from me, Mr. Kaiden? Ever since that day at the hospital, I’ve noticed you changing toward me.”I twirled a strand of hair around my finger, staring into his black ocean eyes with my clear blue ones.“I’m sorry, little one, but you’ll know the answer to that question later.”I hummed in understanding.
