“I…I don’t know where he is,” I stammered, instinctively stepping back. My pulse rang in my ears. “I haven’t seen Rafael in a while.”
His face twisted, and he looked at me in disbelief.
“That’s a lie.” He yelled. “You worked with him! You were one of the last people who saw him before his company went under. Everyone thinks he ran away, bu
Zella"You need to stop moving so much," Sasha fussed, adjusting the pillows behind my back for the third time in five minutes. "The doctor said rest.""The doctor said I'm healing well," I corrected, trying to sit up straighter in bed. "Which means I can move around a little.""Well, Uncle Zay said bed rest.""Isaiah says a lot of things." I swung my legs over the side of the bed. "And if I stay in this bed one more minute, I'm going to lose my mind.""Zee, stop being so stubborn!""I'm fine, Sasha. Really." I stood slowly, testing my balance. My ribs hurt like crazy but it wasn't as bad as a few days ago. "I just need to walk around and stretch my legs. I need to feel human again."Sasha sighed but moved to my side, her arm hovering near my elbow in case I needed support. "You're as stubborn as Uncle Zay is."
Third Person POVThe police station was chaotic. There were officers processing arrests, phones ringing, people shouting. In the middle of it all, Oliver sat on a hard plastic chair in the hallway, staring at nothing."Kid, you can go home now," an officer told him an hour ago. "We got your statement. You're free to leave."Oliver hadn't moved.Where would he go? Home? What home? His mother's blood was still on his clothes. Hismidn constantly replayed his own father, choking her to death as he slammed her into the wall over and over.No. Not his father. Thomas wasn't his father. Isaiah was.Except Isaiah wasn't really either, was he? There was no way Isaiah King would accept him as his son after all that had happened.Oliver had no one. He was completely utterly alone."Hey." A different officer crouched i
ZellaI was free.Paramedics surrounded me, checking my vitals. I winced when they pointed flashlights in my eyes, checking the injuries on my body."Possible concussion," one of them said. "She definitely has bruised ribs, maybe even cracked ones. We need to get her to a hospital for a full examination.""The baby?" My voice was hoarse. “What about my baby?”The female paramedic smiled softly. "The heartbeat is strong. But we need to do an ultrasound to be sure everything's okay. You've been through significant trauma."Significant did not even begin to cut it.I nodded, relief washing over me so intensely I felt dizzy. The baby was okay. Our baby was okay."We need to move you to the ambulance," the paramedic continued. "Can you walk, or should we get a stretcher?""I can walk."
Third Person POV“That's where Zella is,”Thomas heard Isaiah say. His eyes widened as he realized Zella's location had been found. "You son of a-"Isaiah lunged for him. The massive man moved faster than Thomas expected, closing the distance between them in a heartbeat. His fist connected with Thomas's jaw with a sickening crack, sending the smaller man stumbling backward. The gun flew from Thomas's hand, skittering across the dirt."You locked her in a fucking bunker?!” Isaiah's voice was pure venom as he grabbed Thomas by the collar and slammed him against a tree. "How dare you? How fucking DARE you?!His fist came down again and again, bashing Thomas's face. Thomas tried to fight back, throwing wild punches but they did nothing to stop the hulk currently trying to kill him."She's pregnant!" Isaia
IsaiahThe meeting location was exactly what I had expected. It was a clearing in the woods that was isolated, with only one road in and out. Thomas wasn't stupid. He had chosen somewhere he could control.I was sure he had also chosen somewhere close to wherever he was hiding Zella. I was counting on that, at least. Zella was his bargaining chip, and he would want her close enough for him to get to her but hidden enough so that I could never find her. The only reason I wouldn't be able to kill him was because he alone knew where he stashed my wife. I would bet that his plan was to get rid of me anyway."Everyone in position?" I murmured into my earpiece as I drove."Of course," Nico's voice came through. "Thermal imaging from the drone we sent shows one person in the clearing. It's likely Thomas. We're sweeping the surrounding area now."
Zella"Get up,"Dad ordered, grabbing my arm and hauling me to my feet roughly.Pain exploded through my body. My legs barely held me up, and I would have collapsed if he hadn't been gripping me so tightly. Why were we moving again? I was so exhausted, and I could hardly keep my eyes open anymore at this rate."Where are you taking me?" I gasped."Somewhere your husband will never find you." He started dragging me toward a back exit I hadn't noticed before. "At least not before I'm done with him."We stepped out into the darkness. It was night already. The warehouse was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by dense woods. Thomas had a flashlight that beamed through the trees as he pulled me forward.I stumbled, my twisted ankle screaming in protest. He didn't slow down. he just yanked m
