FINALLY MET HIM

last update Last Updated: 2021-07-11 23:16:54

"Urgh." Josh groaned as he woke up from a terrible hangover from last night's party at his friend's house which he was forced to attend. His phone, which was on the table near his bed side, started ringing loudly.

"What?" Josh frowned as the person who forced him which led to his terrible hangover still dared to call him.

"Oh, hey bro. Are you ready yet?"

Josh became confused. "Ready for what?"

Daniel gasped dramatically which made Josh roll his eyes on the other line.

"Tsk tsk. Have you forgotten that we have an appointment with the grocery story where we wanna find a job?"

"So?" Josh asked as his head started bringing out flames because of the anger that was building up within him. After what Daniel did, he still had the guts to call him about a stupid job in a grocery store.

Daniel was suprised hearing how Josh replied to him, completely oblivious to the tone of Josh's voice. "Dude, you told me you wanted to have a job to hide your identity. I even took my time." He stressed the 'my time'. "To get this job for you and i, and now you are just saying 'so?' huh?"

"Daniel, do you know you are mad!?" Josh yelled, making Daniel move the phone away from his ear.

Josh closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths before speaking. "How will i wake  up early when you forced me to drink a lot last night?"

Daniel remembered what happened last night. "Ooh, dude i'm so sorry for that. I'ts  just that i was having a lot of fun, and i wanted someone to drink with me. But still, you should have woken up early." He muttered.

"What did you say?" Josh asked as he removed his phone from his ear to look at the screen as if he was video calling Daniel.

"Nothing. Just come to my house when you are ready." He immediately disconnected the call because of how scary Josh's voice was.

"I hope he gets the job. Sigh."

Josh arrived at Daniel's house on his motorcycle. He came down looking vexed. Daniel soon came out of the house.

"B-bro." Daniel stuttered because he knew what was coming for him.

"Take me to the grocery store now, and don't talk while we are going there." He opened the door to Daniel's car and entered. Noticing Daniel was in a daze, he yelled. "Is the car going to drive itself to the place?!"

Daniel shook because of the sudden outburst. "Ah y-yes, i'm coming." He quickly got into the car and drove off, not daring to look at Josh.

Josh and Daniel arrived at the grocery store. Daniel opened the door and a bell above the door jingled, indicating someone just entered. Daniel went to the counter to ask about the owner of the store.

"Hey please i'm looking for Mrs Williams."

The girl he was talking to did not even look at him, because she was stunned by the guy behind him. She said to herself. "I have finally met him."

"Helloo." David waved his hand accross her face.

"Oh, sorry. Mrs Williams. Yes, i will go call her. She left immediately and closed the door behind her.

She rested on the door, holding her chest that was beating way too fast. After she had calmed down, she walked a little at stopped right at the door of her boss's office and knocked lightly.

"Yes? Come in." The voice in the room answered.

Sabrina opened the door slowly which made a creak sound, and entered. "Ma'am? Someone is looking for you."

Mrs Williams raised her head. She removed her glasses and placed them on the table. "Oh, that must be Daniel. Tell him i will be with him shortly."

"Okay." she nodded and left the office. She closed the door behind her. She was too shy to come outside, but she had to deliver Mrs Williams message."

She came back to the counter and smiled at Daniel. "She will be with you shortly." She resumed staring at Josh. 'He still looks stunning.' She thought.

Josh was quite a beauty to behold. He was mixed. His father was white, while his mother was black. He had the perfect jawline, sharp nose and inviting pink lips that even men, and women could not resist looking at. His curly hair which was beautifully styled, had some fall on his face. He had those mesmerizing ocean blue eyes which someone could drown in , because it was to beautiful. To top it all, he appeared in a killer shirt which slightly hugged his body, revealing his strong biceps. He totally ignored all the eyes and giggling voices, because he was used to all of them already.

Not long after, Mrs Williams came out. She was rendered speechless seeing Josh's appearance. Josh stood straight as he was leaning against the counter. She couldn't help but ask. "Sir, what do you want to buy?"

Daniel couldn't help but chuckle. "He is the one i told you about. He wants to work here."

Mrs Williams gaped at her stunning future employee. "Oh my. This young man wants to work for me?"

When Sabrina heard this, her heart stopped beating for a second. How would she be able to concentrate?

Josh looked at Daniel confused, as to why he said only he wants to work when they are the ones that came to look for the job together. Daniel noticing this, averted his gaze immediately and gave him a signal that he will talk to him later.

"Oh,he is the one? That is good because i have been looking for amother person to help my poor Sabrina here."

"Yes ma'am i am ready to work. I can even work immediately." Josh said as he was still looking at Daniel.

Mrs Williams laughed. "Of course you are hired. Your good looking face will brfing a lot of customers for me." They all laughed except for Sabrina, whose heart skipped a beat, seeing how Josh laughed. His perfect white set of teeth, made him more good looking.

'God, save me.' She prayed inwardly.

Mrs Williams continued. "Daniel had already given me your details, and i must say, your performance in high school and college was outstanding." She said, feeling impressed.

"Thank you ma'am." Josh said, feeling a little bit proud of himself.

She placed her arm on his shoulder and looked at him lovingly like the way a mother would and Josh felt unknowingly good, since he never experienced it.

" My dear, i hope you don't mind the pay because..."

"It's okay ma'am." Josh smiled. "Half bread is better than none."

"That pay is not even up to his boxers." Daniel muttered and chuckled.

"Did you say something Daniel?" Mrs Williams asked.

He came out from his thoughts. "Ah no no,carry on." He found Josh glaring at him. He knew Josh heard him.

Mrs Williams gasped when she suddenly remembered something. "Didn't you attend the same college as Josh, Sabrina?"

Sabrina who was quietly looking at Josh, came out of her world. "Ah y-yes i did." Josh looked at her and tried to remember where he had seen her, but he couldn't remember. Little did he know that his gaze on her was making Sabrina turn crimson.

'Please look away, please.' To her satisfaction, he did look away. She sighed in relief.

She didn't know if she should be happy or sad that he was going to work with her. First, her long time love was going to work with her, she was going to see him everyday. But on the other hand, how was she going to concentrate?. Mrs Williams interrupted her thoughts.

"Okay then Josh. Since Sabrina is working on the counter, you will offload the goods and place them in each section and arrange them. I will also come sometimes to help okay?"

"Yes ma'am." He smiled, but Sabrina didn't see him this time. "Can i start now?"

Mrs Williams laughed seeing his enthusiasm. "Of course my dear. i'm glad you decided to start now."

"Thank you. Where shall i begin." He looked around the big store.

"Oh yes. Go straight and turn to your left. You will see two boxes, they contain kitchen wares and household cleaners. Arrange them on the shelf."

"Okay, i will do that now." Saying that, he left three of them to do his job.

Mrs Williams turned to Daniel. "Thank you for bringing him. He will do well."

"You are welcome ma'am. I will be taking my leave now, my work here is done." With that, he nodded and left.

Mrs Williams looked at Sabrina and smiled before she went back to her office.

Sabrina sighed as she sat down and saw Josh's face appear in her mind. "I'm finished, urgh!"

Josh sat back a little more comfortably, one arm draped behind the couch, the other resting on his knee.He looked at her out of the corner of his eye.He didn’t know why, but the thought had been in his head since she knocked on his door.Could he trust her with the truth?Who he actually was. Why he hid. Everything that could blow up the second it slipped out.He didn’t even trust people easily. But with her... something felt different. It wasn’t just comfort. It was like she saw him , not the version he gave people, but the actual him.He shook the thought off for now.Instead, he said, “I’ve been thinking about getting a job.”Sabrina raised a brow. “Really? What kind?”“Just something part-time. Im trying to keep things simple for now." She stared at him for a second. “Why not go for something better? You’re smart, Josh. Like... scary smart. You could do anything.”Josh smiled a little. “True. But simple draws less attention."She wanted to ask more, but before she could, thund

Downstairs, Daniel was sprawled on the couch, legs kicked up, a blanket half over his lap like he lived there full-time , which, to be fair, he did.Josh sat across from him, quiet, fingers tapping lightly on the armrest.Daniel let out a loud, dramatic sigh.“I need my girlfriend.”Josh glanced at him.Daniel stared at the ceiling. “No seriously. This long-distance thing between me and Alicia being upstairs is killing me.”Josh rolled his eyes. “You saw her an hour ago.”“Exactly. That’s sixty full minutes of emotional starvation.”Josh smirked a little and shook his head. But Daniel narrowed his eyes, noticing.“You’ve been quiet.”Josh didn’t answer right away.Daniel leaned forward. “What’s going on in that scary brain of yours? Is it about Mabel?”Josh nodded slowly. “Yeah.”Daniel sat up straighter. “You found something?”“Not yet. I made a few calls. I’m having someone dig into her charity records, her assistants, recent events… all of it.”Daniel nodded. “Good.”Josh looked ah

Sabrina sat at her desk, clicking through a report that honestly didn’t need as much focus as she was pretending to give it.The office was calm for once. No one arguing. No one knocking things over. Just keyboards tapping and soft chatter.Across from her, Alicia leaned back in her chair, stretching.“You look weirdly rested today,” Alicia said.Sabrina glanced up. “Do I?”“Yeah. Like, your eyes aren’t screaming.”“I slept at Josh and Daniel’s place.”Alicia raised a brow immediately. “Oh?”“Not like that,” Sabrina said quickly. “I just didn’t want to be alone.”“Mm-hmm. And that has nothing to do with Josh being tall and fine?”Sabrina gave her a look. “Seriously.”Alicia laughed. “Okay, okay. But for real, why’d you stay there? You never sleep over unless something’s wrong.”Sabrina hesitated, then shrugged. “The power went out. And I was too tired to deal with it.”Alicia didn’t look fully convinced, but she nodded. “Still a better excuse than ‘the vibes were off.’ I’ll allow it.”

  • Damn You! Delilah   Don't Touch What's Mine

Josh and Jessica walked slowly, side by side, down the quiet path leading to the bridge. The night breeze was gentle. The streetlights glowed a warm yellow. It was peaceful. Jessica’s hair kept blowing into his face every few steps. She laughed and tried to hold it back. “Sorry. My hair’s having a moment.” Josh looked at her, then reached up without thinking and gently tucked a loose strand behind her ear. Jessica blinked, caught off guard. Then she smiled, a little shy. “Thanks.” He nodded, suddenly unsure why that felt… weird. They stopped at the middle of the bridge. The view was calm and beautiful. Lights from the city reflected on the water below like little pieces of glass. Jessica leaned on the railing. “This is nice,” she said. Josh looked out with her. “Yeah. It is.” “I needed this,” she added. “It’s been a while since I’ve just... enjoyed someone’s company.” Josh gave a small smile. “Me too.” She turned to face him. “You’re really not that bad, you

Just as Sabrina started to edge away, Mabel’s voice rose again. “Whatever she picks out, I’ll pay for it.” Sabrina stopped. She looked up slowly. “I’m fine, ma'am” she said quickly. “I can—” “Nonsense,” Mabel cut in, still smiling. “Let me.” Sabrina glanced at the vendor, who looked thrilled. “Pick what you want, dear. Don’t be shy.” “I really appreciate it, but I can manage,” Sabrina said, her voice tight but polite. Mabel turned to her fully now. Her eyes met Sabrina’s with a calm, unreadable stare. Still smiling. Still soft. But there was something in her expression. A flicker. A stillness. Like she was waiting to see what Sabrina would do next. The crowd didn’t notice it. The vendor didn’t feel it. But Sabrina did. The message was clear. Take the kindness… or make it awkward. Sabrina nodded slowly and reached for a few tomatoes, her fingers trembling slightly. “Thank you,” she said. Mabel stepped closer, placed a hand lightly on Sabrina’s should

  • Damn You! Delilah   Date Prep

Jessica stood in front of her open closet like she was trying to solve a world crisis. “Why do I have so many clothes but nothing to wear?” she mumbled, pulling out one dress, then another, tossing them all over her bed. She held up a red dress. Too much. A floral one. Too casual. A black one. Too funeral. She groaned and flopped down on her bed, arms spread out like she’d just run a marathon. “I swear, this is why women lose their minds,” she muttered to herself. “Just one date. Just one perfect outfit.” Then she shot up again, suddenly remembering a short, off-shoulder cream dress she hadn’t worn in a while. “Found you,” she grinned, holding it up to her chest in the mirror. She twirled once and smiled at her reflection. Not too dramatic. Not too plain. Cute, but confident. “Alright, Josh,” she said to herself. “You’re not ready for this.” --- Meanwhile… Josh stared at his closet like it had personally betrayed him. “What do guys even wear on dates thes
