The bunker trembled as Elias unleashed a burst of golden energy—

a shockwave so violent it shattered every glass panel and threw sparks across the ceiling.

Lena screamed as Alexander pushed her behind one of the overturned tables.

BOOM!

The metal floor rippled like water under Elias’s feet. His entire body glowed brighter, veins pulsing like molten rivers under his skin. His fingers curled, twitching, sparking—

He wasn’t Elias anymore.

Not fully.

Alexander peeked over the table just in time to see Elias’s head jerk violently, his jaw clenching as if two forces were fighting inside him.

Electric arcs crawled up the walls.

The air grew hot—

too hot—

burning their skin.

Cassandra slammed into the ground and rolled behind a stack of crates, shouting over the roaring energy:

“He’s losing control! The purge is trying to override his consciousness!”

Alexander pulled Lena close as she covered her ears against the deafening hum.

“Elias—STOP!” he yelled.

Elias turned toward him sharply.

His eyes—

no longer just glowing—

were now two spinning rings of golden circuitry.

Ancient symbols.

Moving.

Alive.

“Alexander,” Elias said.

But his voice was layered—

his voice mixed with something inhuman.

Lena trembled. “That’s not him…”

Elias took a staggering step forward.

The lights flickered.

The temperature spiked.

Cassandra yelled, “If he can’t stabilize—he’ll become the purge’s weapon! A walking implosion!”

Alexander’s stomach twisted.

“How do we stop it?!”

Cassandra shouted back:

“There’s only ONE way to stop a purge vessel—”

The bunker floor cracked beneath Elias’s feet.

Golden cracks spread outward like spiderwebs.

Elias’s eyes flickered—

the real Elias flashing through, terrified.

“Run…” he whispered.

“Run—!”

The purge inside him surged violently.

He snarled—

a sound that was not human—

and slammed a fist into the metal wall, making it buckle inward.

Alexander grabbed Lena’s hand. “MOVE!”

They sprinted down the bunker hallway as metal warped behind them.

BOOM!

The lights overhead exploded one by one.

Elias’s voice echoed, distorted and booming:

“STOP RUNNING.”

Golden energy surged after them like a storm.

Alexander shoved Lena through a metal door, slamming it shut and pressing his back against it.

The door glowed—

heating instantly under the purge waves.

“It won’t hold!” Cassandra shouted, grabbing wires and yanking them down, sparks flying.

Alexander gasped for breath.

Lena clung to him, shaking.

“Alex… he’s in pain… I heard him… I HEARD him—”

“I know,” Alexander whispered. “We’ll get him back. I swear we will.”

But even he didn’t believe it.

The metal door behind him dented inward—

the shape of Elias’s hand imprint forming.

Cassandra hurled a heavy steel tool chest in front of the door.

“It won’t stop him. But it might buy us ten seconds.”

Alexander looked at her desperately. “What’s the way? You said there’s one way to stop him.”

Cassandra hesitated.

Lena grabbed her arm, voice cracking.

“TELL US!”

Cassandra whispered the truth:

“A purge vessel can only be stopped by one person.”

Alexander’s heartbeat stuttered.

“Who?” he whispered.

Cassandra looked at Lena.

Lena’s eyes widened in horror.

“No…”

Alexander shook his head violently.

“No. Absolutely not—”

Cassandra continued, voice breaking:

“The vessel must be shut down by the one he anchored the purge for. The one he sacrificed himself for.”

A beat.

“He tied the purge to Lena. She is the only person the purge recognizes. Only she can stop him.”

Lena felt the world tilt under her feet.

“I can’t hurt him,” she whispered. “I won’t.”

“Then he will kill you both,” Cassandra said, voice shaking.

The door split down the middle.

Alexander roared, stepping in front of Lena.

“No! I won’t let her die for this!”

Elias’s golden arm forced through the crack, fingers clawing the door apart like paper.

Alexander grabbed Lena, backing up slowly.

Lena shook her head, tears falling hard.

“I’m not killing Elias! I can’t! He saved me!”

Cassandra’s voice rose, raw and desperate.

“You’re not killing Elias—you're killing the purge inside him!”

The door exploded outward.

Elias stepped through the smoke—

glowing

crackling

unstoppable.

He looked at Lena.

And for a single second—

just one—

his gold eyes flickered green.

“Lena…”

His real voice whispered.

“End it.”

She sobbed, collapsing to her knees.

“Elias—NO—”

Alexander grabbed her shoulders.

“Don’t. Don’t listen. We’ll find another way—”

But there was no more time.

Elias spasmed—

gold ripping through his veins—

his face contorting in pain.

And the purge seized control again.

He lifted his hand—

palm glowing with deadly energy—

aimed directly at Lena.

A golden beam charged.

Alexander shielded her instantly.

“ELIAS, NO!”

Elias’s eyes widened—

fighting—

shaking—

trying to stop himself—

“RUN!” he screamed.

“RUN, LENA—RUN—!”

But Lena didn’t move.

She rose slowly to her feet.

Tears streaming.

Voice trembling.

“I won’t run from you.”

The purge inside Elias roared.

The energy built.

Alexander grabbed her arm. “LENA—DON’T—!”

But she stepped forward.

Facing the monster Elias had become.

Facing the purge.

Facing the man who saved her.

“Elias…” she whispered.

“I’m ending this.”

Snow drifted through the torn opening of the jet’s wreckage, settling softly on Alexander’s unmoving body. Alex, don’t do this to me—please—”But he didn’t stir. His pulse thudded beneath her shaking fingers—weak, uneven, but alive.Relief and terror crashed together inside her.Sable watched her struggle with an indifferent curiosity, like observing an injured animal.“Touching,” Sable murmured. “Your devotion is almost sweet.”Lena’s head snapped up, tears freezing against her skin.“What did you do to Elias?”Sable arched a brow. “To him? Nothing. The purge did that on its own.”“Where is he?” Lena demanded.Sable’s lips curled.“Alive.”Lena’s heart stuttered.“But not… himself.”Lena’s breath caught in her throat.“What does that mean?”Sable stepped closer, heels crunching softly in the snow. She crouched gracefully in front of Lena, her gloved fingers lifting

Engines failing—altitude dropping—brace yourselves!”The lights flickered—darkness—Then emergency red lighting filled the cabin. The jet nosedived.Lena’s stomach lurched into her throat as gravity yanked her downward. She gasped, breath ripped from her lungs.“ELIAS!” she screamed into the night—but there was nothing out

The night sky burned gold. The surge of purge energy ripped across the wing, blinding, violent, alive. Alexander shielded his face as the force slammed into him, nearly tearing him off the metal.“ELIAS!” he shouted, voice raw.But Elias didn’t hear him.Couldn’t.His body glowed brighter—veins lit like molten rivers, hair lifted by static, every breath a shockwave. He looked less like a man and more like a star about to collapse.Inside the cabin, Lena screamed his name, her voice carried away by the roaring wind.“ELIAS—STOP! LISTEN TO ME!”But the purge inside him was drowning everything else out.Cassandra grabbed the cockpit mic, yelling into it,“Elias! You’re overloading the purge core! You need to stabilize—NOW!”He didn’t respond. His feet dug through the wing metal, molten gold dripping from his heels. • Dangerous Desire   Chapter 69: War on the Wing

Cold air roared into the cabin as Elias hurled himself out of the open hatch. The night sky swallowed him instantly, wind tearing at his body. But he didn’t fall.A golden flare burst beneath his boots as he landed on the jet’s wing with supernatural balance — the purge inside him anchoring every movement. The sentinel turned its head toward him.Two red eyes glowed through the mask.It stood tall, unmoving, sword still embedded in the wing. Its black armor absorbed the rushing wind like it was standing on solid ground.Elias steadied himself and shouted over the storm,“COME ON, THEN!”The sentinel pulled the blade free. The metal shrieked.Lena screamed inside the cabin as the jet lurched violently to the side, sparks spitting from the damaged panel.Alexander grabbed the wall to steady himself.“CASSANDRA—KEEP US LEVEL!”“I’M TRYING!” Cassandra yelled back. “BUT IF THAT THING TEARS OFF THE WING, WE’RE ALL DEAD!”On the wing, the sentinel lunged.Elias threw up his arm — golden ener

  • Dangerous Desire   Chapter 68: Into the Skies of Danger

The south exit of the bunker opened into a narrow passageway carved through stone, the air thick with dust and the hum of hidden machinery. Lena stayed pressed against Alexander’s side as they moved, her legs still weak but her mind alert.Elias walked ahead, silent, tense, every muscle rigid. The faint golden glow beneath his skin pulsed faster the closer they came to the open air.Cassandra led them quickly.“Hurry. The purge is reacting,” she said without turning.Elias’s voice was low.“It’s sensing something.”Alexander’s brow hardened. “Sable?”“Or something she controls,” Cassandra replied grimly. The moment they stepped out into the night, a cold mountain wind hit them, carrying the scent of pine and snow. In the distance, faint landing lights illuminated a small, camouflaged airstrip. A sleek black jet sat ready, engines quietly humming.Alexander’s grip tightened around Lena’s hand.“We’re almost there.”But Lena didn’t miss the way his eyes scanned every shadow, every treet

The bunker was quieter now, but only on the surface.Beneath every breath, every heartbeat, tension simmered like a storm waiting to break.Alexander paced the length of the room, jaw tight, shoulders stiff, mind already ten steps ahead. He checked weapons, supplies, maps—then checked them all again.Lena watched him from the side, still pale but recovering. He hadn’t left her side for longer than a minute since she came back to life.Elias leaned against the far wall, eyes closed, breathing slow and controlled as he fought to stabilize the purge inside him. Faint gold pulsed beneath his skin, but he kept it contained—for now.Cassandra typed furiously at the main terminal, the screens filled with encrypted files, satellite paths, and intel from an underground network Lena didn’t know existed. The group was silent… until Cassandra suddenly spoke.“We need to move within the next two hours.”Alexander snapped to attention. “Why?”Cassandra turned toward them, pushing her glasses up the
