Chapter Forty

Bridgette was just finishing up the last of her work  for the day when she got an alert on her burner phone. She was putting away the rest of her files when Kane walked into her office at the house in town. She tried not to think about the attraction she was feeling towards Kane. Instead she thought about what she still had left to do and nearly everything else she could focus on rather than the hulking man that seemed to occupy more space in her brain by the second. 

The sun  was beginning to set and dinner would be ready in 30 minutes. She knew that they would be finishing their conversation after she got Sammy to sleep. She didn’t know if it was a good idea for them to even consider crossing any lines until all of this was settled. Just the thought of talking about it had her nervously checking the time.  As she was putting the last of her files away Kane’s phone began to ring.

Hmmm.... it would seem things are finally going to pick up a little bit as far as Margo and Kane are concerned.
