LOGINIt had been a while since Adrian, her unexpected saviour had left. During that time many thoughts occupied her mind. Her father, her siblings, her... lover...
She kept wondering how her dad, Randur Winterbourne could just frame her as a traitor throw her into the deadfalls after all she did for them. It made no sense to her. ' Just what is Darius and father planning?' Why did they frame her...Why... after all she had done for them... WHY!?!? Her nails dug into her palms as her thoughts ran over the place. ' It seems that they were planning on using me as distraction for something ... they were planning on discarding me for a very long time.' Her heart throbbed at the thought. " Darius..." She muttered her voice cracked with emotion and her heart throbbed with greater intensity. Now that thought about it. She could tell that reason father and Darius didn't kill her immediately after poisoning her was to avoid causing a ruckus. And because her strength hadn't waned enough for them to do it effortlessly. They couldn't let other pack members find out. Even the slightest trace of a fight would cause suspicion. “ F*ck.“ She cursed. Then there were her siblings as well. Estelle had a total of eight siblings which were once twelve in number. Although she wasn't particularly close with most of them, they were still her siblings whom she grew up with regardless. However there was one she missed a lot. " Hestia." Estelle mumbled with longing and worry. Her half sister and her best friend who had been there for her through thick and thin. Her father sent her on a mission to Silon; The northern region 3 days before her betrayal. ' Probably to increase their chances of getting rid of me.' Since Hestia stuck to her like a glue, the first thing they had to do in order to successfully get rid of Estelle was to send Hestia away. Then there was Adrian. Her inner wolf growled in frustration any time she thought of that man. Her clenched fist trembled. Why did let her live? why? This was something she didn't understand. Why did he do it? Wouldn't it be better if he let her die? Wouldn't it be beneficial to him? The amount of disgust she felt when thinking of that man was palpable. She just couldn't accept the fact that Adrian was the anchor that saved her from drifting further into the ocean called death. Estelle could still remember how his arms wrapped around her and how warm and solid he felt. Her heart skipped a beat. Soon though, that feeling was replaced by disgust towards herself. She didn't want to feel any positive emotion towards that man. She shuddered as she hugged herself. Shaking her head Estelle chuckled darkly as she remembered something. She remembered him saying he was going to do a lot of things to her. Unknown to Estelle, she felt a faint sense of anticipation. Did Adrian think she would let him do anything to her just because he saved her? ' Go ahead and try, f*cker... I will make sure to bite your d*ck off!' Her eyes flashed with malice. Then her stomach growled. She was hungry. Werewolves recover quicker when they eat, Estelle suspected that Adrian probably starving her to stall her recovery time. ' B*stard. ' Estelle felt a faint flicker of annoyance. However this little amount of hunger was child's play to her. Pushing through the pain Estelle tried to get up only to groan and fall back into the bed with a soft plop. She was injured in all sorts of places. She shattered a few ribs and ruptured her internal organs from the fall. Not to mention, the stab wound on her back missed her spine by an inch. Her mate was obviously planning on crippling her and letting die in the White Exile(Deadfalls). Thankfully her limbs were strong and durable, so she could still use her arms and legs. They fucking ached though. She was about to get up again when the door opened and a familiar figure entered her sight. Someone she didn't want to see. “ Trying to run away?“ Adrian smiled darkly. Estelle sneered, but didn't answer his question. She just glared daggers at him. " Did you save me just to starve me to death? If you did, then it's working.“ Adrian raised an eyebrow at her sudden outburst. Before he could speak he was rendered by speechless by what she said next. " If you are so poor you can't afford food why don't you just offer your self on a plate and let me eat you instead? I would appreciate it.“ That came out of nowhere. Suppressing the strange thought that popped up in his mind he responded. “ What you are saying lacks basis and common sense, it seems like the cold from the deadfall has frozen most of your braincells.“ Estelle went silent. Even her wolf flinched. Standing near the door Adrian spoke. " I planned on giving this to you." He raised a bowl containing roasted meat in it. " But now you have to come and get it yourself." ’ How come I didn't see or sniff that out?’ Estelle was baffled. Did Adrian used his magic to conceal it? ’ It doesn't matter, I will get the food myself.’ Estelle huffed before trying to lift herself up, she would rather suffer herself to get the food than have Adrian give it to her. As soon as her torso leaned forward a loud and audible crack rang out. She had broken a rib. Estelle let out a groan. Her body shuddered from pain. She immediately regretted her decision. Despite her high pain tolerance, Estelle was no masochist. But nevertheless, because she wanted to spite Adrian, she continued to move. Actually she would have preferred if she died doing so. At least that would ruin Adrian's plans for her. That was just how much she hated him. Before she moved any further Adrian had already appeared before her before holding her still. “ Hold it. Don't move, are you trying to kill yourself now?“ He forcefully pushed her down to the bed. “ I never expected you to do that.“ He added and looked at Estelle who was now glaring at him. ' Just f*cking die!!!' He crouched beside her and asked. “ Are you hurt?“ Instead of responding Estelle gave him a sidelong. Her mouth open and closed several times like a fish. She stared at Adrian like he was an idiot. “ Am I hurt?“ Estelle laughed before wincing slightly. ’ Does this man have a brain in his head, or didn't he just hear my bones crack?’ “ No am not hurt all. Am... am alright and I feel perfectly healthy, none of my bones are misaligned right now and am not in pain.“ She sarcastically spat through gritted teeth. “...“ Adrian stared at her for a few seconds and, as if getting a hidden message he nodded his head got up. “ Okay I will call the physician.“ Estelle exhaled while she stared at him with greater disbelief. All sorts of malicious thoughts were running through her mind. The her hand shot out and grabbed Adrian's forearm. The man froze on the spot and glanced over his shoulder only to be met with Estelle's expectant yet disdainful gaze. For a moment Estelle's words about devouring him flashed in his head. “ What...“ “ The food.“ “ Estelle you can't–“ “ Adrian, Just give me the food, or become the food. Choose wisely.“ The grip on Adrian's forearm tightened even further till he felt the bones on his forearm ache. She didn't look like she was joking. Her eyes faintly glowed crimson as she tried to use her werewolf powers to intimidate him, but that did nothing. She was too weak right now. In the end he could only give in. He didn't want her to do something crazy. “ Fine.“ He immediately brought the bowl to her. No thank you, no look of gratitude, Estelle just snatched the bowl from him. ’ Stupid Alpha, ugly piece of sh*t, squid faced man’ Estelle cursed Adrian with every insult she could generate. Then she heard the door slam shut. “ Wait till, I recover. Just wait till I recover. I will make life hell for you.“ Estelle muttered hatefully.“What are you doing, Adrian?” Estelle's voice emerged little more than a hoarse whisper, dry from hours of silent grief. It was the first time she had spoken to him since morning. There was no anger in her voice like Adrian expected. Just pure exhaustion. Her voice sounded monotone and hollow and there was a slight tremor to it.Adrian met her gaze in silence. His heart ached at the sight before him. The vibrant light that usually danced within her golden eyes were no where to be seen. They stared back at him with an emptiness that reminded him of a dead fish, dull and devoid of emotion. Dark shadows rested beneath them, while strands of her disheveled raven-black hair clung to her damp face. It made her look worn and dead. Just like the day he saved her life in the White Exile.Lifeless and broken. She had saved the lives of several people by just taking one and despite all of that, she looked as though she had lost a part of herself. He his thoughts unwillingly drifted to Dharv. Hi
Adrian crossed the final stretch between the outer district and Frostveil Castle in a series of tremendous leaps. His entire focus remained fixed upon the woman resting quietly in his arms. The mask had long since been removed from her face, allowing him to see her clearly. At some point during the short journey to the castle, Estelle's shoulders had stopped trembling. The tears that had stained her cheeks had dried beneath the relentless wind, but her eyelashes were still damp. Judging by the slow, steady rhythm of her breathing, she had fallen asleep. The battle had drained her far more than he had initially realized. Both her body and mind had been put under great strain, and now exhaustion had wore her down, pulling her to sleep. Her face rested against his chest while one hand remained loosely clenched around his clothing. Even in sleep, she had not let go of him. Adrian's cold eyes scrutinized Estelle's face. This was the very woman who had once sought to kill him. Th
The massive black wolf leading Frostveil's forces abruptly slowed.Behind him, hundreds of werewolves followed suit. Snow exploded beneath their paws as they skidded across the frozen plains, carving deep trenches into the frozen ground. The wolf leaped and shifted mid air. It dark fur receded and it's size shrank. Moments later, a man landed upon the snow in human form. His pale blue eyes immediately swept across the snowy plains. Then his steps slowed down. The sight before Adrian wasn't what he had expected when he came rushing back from the south. When the deadly battle with the rogue werewolves had neared it's conclusion, the remainder of them had gleefully told Adrian that they were just a decoy and Frostveil was currently under siege. This made Adrian almost lose control on the spot. After mercilessly finishing them off, he and his pack had rushed back in futile hopes of making back in time. He had concluded that whoever was attempting to raid Frostveil when he was away would
A deafening boom rang out across the battlefield as a Beta crashed violently into the snow. Moments later, another warrior was hurled through the air before slamming into a tree hard enough to knock him unconscious on impact.Minutes passed, accompanied by an endless chorus of pained grunts, breaking wood, and bodies crashing into the frozen landscape.Near the western gates, the Frostveilian soldiers stood rooted to the spot in stunned disbelief. These were men and women who had marched here fully prepared to lay down their lives defending their home, yet none of them could believe what they were witnessing.A single woman was holding back an entire invasion force by herself.No.Holding back was the wrong phrase. She was effortlessly destroying them. One after another, Silvervale's warriors were sent crashing into the snow, trees, and even their own comrades. The werewolves fell, No matter how many charged her, the outcome remained unchanged. The battlefield had become a spectacle of
“ Remember, our objective is simple.”Near Frostveil's western border, a tall werewolf marched at the head of the formation. His voice carried effortlessly across the snow-covered plains, reaching every warrior behind him.“ Inflict as much damage upon Frostveil as possible.”A cruel smile spread across his face.“ Burn what you can. Destroy what you cannot take. And if an opportunity presents itself...” His eyes gleamed with malice. “ Bring back as many women and children as possible. Perhaps even Frostveil's new Luna... if she's here, that is.”"Understood, sir!"The surrounding Betas answered in unison, their voices echoing across the frozen landscape. That last part hadn't been included in the official mission, but Darius had secretly instructed them to do it if the opportunity arose.“ Good. Another grim reminder.... We have at most forty minutes before Frostveil's main forces return."The leading Alpha's grin widened.“ Perhaps if one of the women we bring back catches Lord Dari
Estelle stood frozen like a statue. A bitter feeling rose within her chest, spreading through her like poison. The wolves she had grown up with and the same wolves who had bled beside her.She should have been happy to see the pack that belonged to the place she once called home.Yet as she stared at the approaching force, she felt nothing resembling relief or joy. If she were to describe what she felt, it would be something close to numbness. The sight that should have filled her with familiarity left a hollow ache lingering deep inside her chest instead. The silver cloaks fluttering in the wind. The insignias she had spent her entire life revering...All of it felt distant and unfamiliar, As though she were looking upon fragments of a life that no longer belonged to her.For a brief moment, memories surfaced. The camaraderie she felt as she crouched low along with her pack as they stalked prey.Victory celebrations that stretched long into the night. The countless missions she had u
' Ah...' Estelle couldn't describe what she was feeling right now. For several seconds she couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t think, she couldn’t do anything except but feel. To feel the warmth. She was in a catatonic state. Her brain was going through a meltdown. And for a moment, she forgot that
His left hand came to rest against the wall beside her head, sealing her last path of escape. Slowly, his thumb brushed her lower lip. Not rough. Not hurried. Just deliberate enough to make her skin burn. “Don’t touch me, Adrian!” She snarled. The corner of his mouth lifted. However it wasn’t
“She is my mate.” Silence. For several heartbeats, no one moved. No one breathed. Their brains were currently struggling to process what they had just heard. Then. *Clap* Clap* Clap* Clap* Clap* Clap* Clap* Clap* The sound of sharp clapping broke the silence. Everyone turned and stared a
Estelle groaned as she stirred awake. The warm and dim light the fireplace gave, made her want to go back to sleep. Because of the cold, she had drawn the blanket all the way to her neck and curled into a fertile position. Her hands were in between her thighs, and her head rested on the warm pillow.
