An oblivious contract

Knight Enterprises

Albert was sitting on the couch crossing his leg with a business magazine on his hand. Nothing but his fingers moved to turn pages. His eyes were deep and attentive. Suddenly a knock disturbed him. He looked at the wrist watch then at the door.

"Come in." He granted in a deep voice.

A man in black law suit entered the office. Albert guestered him to seat even without changing his position. He sat on the sofa and looked at the poker face to get some attention.

"Say." Albert fulfilled his wish at last.

Daniel didn't say anything.  He just took a paper out of his briefcase. Then placed it in front of Albert.

Albert kept the magazine aside and started reading those papers. His eyebrow knitted and face became colder. His eyes became dark with gritting teeth and tightened fist.

" What's all these?" He questioned Daniel. The stern tone made him gulp.

"You need to take sign of your wife in these papers." Daniel tried to stay calm.

"Or else?" Albert raised an eyebrow.

"Or else half of your property will be transferred into her name. Your net worth will starve to die then." He maintained professionalism despite of being sarcastic.

Albert looked at the papers in disdain. Irony! That's all he could say.

"But I didn't remember these clauses." He questioned Daniel.

"Because you didn't read the contract before signing. You were so much angry on your father that you forgot he could do something worse to you. They were written in bold and black letters. You may have gone blind that time." He sighed. It was indeed an awkward father- son duo. Both of them were stubborn and ruthless. They would do anything to reach their goals.

Albert was forced to marry an unknown girl whom he didn't meet even once. His father made himself clear, he would be able to inherit the properties and businesses only by marrying the girl of his choice. Albert worked really hard to reach that level. He couldn't afford to lose the company. So he agreed for the marriage. He thought that would give him rid of all the anxieties. But his father was crueler than him. He made two clauses.

1. After two years of marriage, his wife would sign a paper stating Albert treated her well.

2. If she refused to sign it, half of his business and properties would be transferred into her name.

Fuck!

Albert cursed under his breath.

He was running out of time. He just had two weeks to ask for her sign.

Actually he only had two weeks to meet her, to let her know the situation and to ask for the signature.

"Seems like you dug your own grave. Wish you luck!" Daniel dared to mock him. He knew now Albert could do nothing at least for now, he was nothing but a toy of his father.

Albert looked at him coldly.

He smirked, " Think about it. You have just two weeks. Let me leave first."

Albert sighed deeply seeing is back. He leaned on the couch and closed his eyes.

He actually almost forgot about the marriage. Why not? He was never lack of girls. They used to beg him on his feet to worship him. Every girl  was about to throw themselves in his arms. But he was not actually interested in anything except business. And he never wanted to be in a relationship with any gold digger.

But fate played well to meet him a gold digger. That girl dared to manipulate his father to ask him for marriage. She even manipulated him to make this kind of contract. Indeed she was a gold digger. She never contacted him after the marriage but lived a luxurious life in his villa. She must knew about the contract but kept him in the dark to get the properties. What did his father see in her?

He was beyond furicious. Anger and hatred was piling up for that gold digger. He was angry back then on his father and certainly on that girl. So he chose to ignore the marital life and drowned himself into works.

He never met her. Never cared for her. Even never asked for her name. He never looked at the issued certificate and even forgot where he kept that. But now he needed it badly. He needed to get that girl and ask her to sign it. But will she agree to sign it? After these two years of negligence. Even he was absent from his own wedding.

And moreover, Albert was sure  that girl planned it to get his property. But taming Albert Knight was not something easy. He took out his phone from the pocket, "Butler, ask your madam Knight I will meet her tonight."
