Chapter Thirteen

Ivans POV

I sat on the couch fuming after all Rebecca had told me. I knew the king was twisted and evil but I never expected this. I went over every detail of our lives with him. What I could have done differently? How I could have been a safer place for her to trust me enough to tell me. I was so concerned with keeping up appearances to the king, I had been so convincing that even my precious Becca didn’t think she could come to me with this. There was a knock at the front of the room. The smell of butterscotch wafted through the door. Ruthie. I pulled myself together and went to open the door.

“Not now Ruthie, I’m not in the mood for...”

“I know.” She interrupted me walking into my room with a tray of food. She placed it down on the coffee table and sat on the couch looking up at me expectantly.

“Becca told me everything this morning. You don’t have to pretend you’re ok, I know you’re not.”
