Zara's POV

"Are you sure you really wanna go back home now?" Cassius asked as I came out to meet him after changing into the clothes he had brought.

I adjusted the hem of the soft, black hoodie—his hoodie, technically, which smells so much like him—and flipped my hair over one shoulder.

"Damn. I told you countless times. I am perfectly fine now and I'm tired of this place already." I replied, running my fingers through my hair in frustration. Hospitals always made my skin crawl. The walls felt like they were closing in on me.

Cassius frowned, his brows knitting together like he didn’t quite believe me. "No, Crystal. I’m sure your shoulder still hurts. It’s a gunshot, really not some kind of just—"

"I know, Mr. DiMarco," I cut in sharply, my voice laced with exhaustion. "And I’m perfectly fine now. I hate hospitals and it’s fucking been over two weeks that I’m here." My tone was colder than intended, but I couldn’t help it. I felt caged.

He raised his hands slightly in surrender. "

Cassius's POV The pain in my arm was nothing compared to the fear gnawing at me as I watched Crystal crumple in my arms. I felt her body go limp, heard her ragged breath grow weaker. No. My pulse raced, blood draining from my face as my vision tunneled. The world around me—gunfire, shouts, the chaos of a battle I didn’t have the luxury of focusing on—faded into nothing. There was only her. Only Crystal. “Crystal…” My voice was rough, hoarse with panic. I didn’t care about the blood soaking through my shirt, didn’t care that I could barely stand on my own. All I could think about was her. My hands fumbled over her, trying to find where the bullet had torn through her shoulder. The sight of the blood soaking her skin made my stomach churn, but I couldn’t afford to be weak now. I needed her to stay with me. “Don’t you dare pass out on me,” I growled, my breath ragged. The words came out more like a command than anything else. “Stay awake. You hear me?” Her eyes fluttered,

Zara's POV Pain... That was what I started feeling the moment my back hit the first step, a jolt of pain ripping through my spine. Then another—sharp, biting, merciless. I clenched my teeth to keep from screaming as the chair bounced and crashed down the staircase, dragging me with it like a ragdoll in a death spiral. The last impact knocked the air clean out of my lungs as i heard the chair break into pieces. I lay there, gasping like a fish out of water. Every nerve in my body screamed. I groaned, rolling onto my side. My fingers fumbled with the rope, nails digging into my skin as I tore the last of it off me. I sat up, every breath shallow and ragged, my vision swimming. Then I saw them. A room full of dangerous eyes locked on me, wide in shock. I had just crashed into the lion’s den... “What the hell…” someone muttered. "Who dare pushed you?" Cassius growled as his eyes went up the stairs. “No one did,” I said quickly, still breathless. “I—I fell myself.” “You wann

Zara's POV "Let me go, you bastard!" I yelled, thrashing against the ropes that held me to the chair. My wrists were already raw, the skin burning from the constant friction. Fuck. I need to get out of here. I really need to. This room is fucking soundproof and I can't hear even a drop from outside. What’s going on out there? The last thing I heard before they dragged me in here was someone saying Cassius was nearby. That made the blood in my veins freeze. Shadow had made the call to Luciano. That’s why they locked me in. Hell it. He has to know. Cassius needs to know that Shadow is a traitor. But why is it that Cassius is always surrounded by traitors...including me? "Will you fucking keep shut," the oaf growled from the corner of the room, where he’d been lurking like a shadow. Of all people, why this filthy freak? Why was he the one assigned to BABYSIT me? I turned my glare on him. “I won't until you untie me, oaf,” I spat, the words leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

Cassius's POV A sound. I glanced back at Raven and he nodded once. If Luciano were really around this place, then Raven wasn't a spy and was just being loyal. I gestured for him to follow, and he fell in step without a word, pulling out his gun, tiptoes forward, and we soon noticed a faint light far away...a fire. I turned to Raven again. “Call Shadow to bring the men over here,” I whispered. He didn’t question it, just stepped back and pulled out his phone. His voice was low, careful, as he relayed our position. I stood watch, breathing slow, heart pounding. “Done, boss,” he said after a moment, sliding the phone back into his pocket. I nodded, exhaling through my nose. “Let’s move.” We crept closer until the firelight revealed three armed men stationed at the entrance of a weathered building. One paced like he was trying to burn off nerves. The others lounged, their guns resting lazily on their laps, their faces lit in orange hues from the fire. I motioned for Rav

Cassius's POV "Dammit." I cursed, my fists clenched unconsciously. "That son of a gun isn't here again. How did it happen? Was it fake information?" "No, definitely not. And he looked like he just left." Shadow replied as he looked around. I turned, staring daggers at the walls as if they'd give me answers. “That means they were informed that we were close,” I muttered, voice low with restrained fury. “Which definitely means someone is feeding them our moves.” My jaw ticked as heat rose through my veins. Who dare had the guts to spy on me? I’ve slit throats for less. And a motherfucker who isn't afraid of me dared give out my moves to my enemy. "Give the instructions boss." Shadow said. "Find out who the spy is." I snapped. "I don't fucking care how, just get him to me right here and now. And look around, they might not have gone far." I clocked my gun back into my trousers, my hands trembling slightly—not from fear, but from the absolute rage building up. The rage t

Zara's POV I tried to open my eyes slowly, but my eyelids felt unbearably heavy. A dull ache throbbed in my head, but I forced them open anyway. My gaze landed on a dimly lit room. A chill ran down my spine as I tried to move—only to realize I couldn’t;I was tied down. Who the hell did this? And why? Everything came rushing back—I had been kidnapped. But by who? And why? I struggled against the restraints, twisting and pulling, but it was useless. The ropes bit into my wrists and ankles, sending sharp jolts of pain through my limbs. I clenched my teeth as I muttered a curse. As my eyes adjusted to the dim light, I took in my surroundings. The room was bare, except for a single table and a chair in the far corner. A wave of panic surged through me, but I forced myself to stay calm. Freaking out wouldn’t get me out of here. Clenching my jaw, I took a slow, steady breath, ignoring the sharp sting in my wrists where the ropes dug into my skin. I needed to focus. I shifted my gaze,
