“Are you okay?” The sentence resounded in my ears, and I opened my eyes.

Although my vision was blurred, I could catch a glimpse of the hooded person in front of me.

“Thank you.” I stood straight, and quickly wiped off the tears on my face. My hands went down as I quickly gathered the books from the floor.

“I’m sorry about hitting you.” His voice floated to me. It was unlike the usual harshness I was used to, so I looked up.

A pair of blue eyes lined with silver, gazed back at me and for a second, I couldn't catch my breath.

“No… it was my fault, I should have watched where I was going.” I stumbled over my words and straightened up.

Before he could ask another question, the laughter from inside the class room hit me and I turned to where I was going.

I didn't want to hear any more of it, and I couldn't believe Leon would sit and watch me get humiliated like that.

Or maybe, I did believe it, I just hadn't come to terms with it.

That the one person I had trusted and relied on would be the same person who would break my trust.

I cleaned my eyes and walked to the basketball court.

It would be empty now, and it was the perfect place to clear my mind, and then maybe write a few chapters of my novel.

It was when I searched my back, that I realised my novel had fallen out.

There was no sight of him and my eyes went to a certain blue eyed boy.

“I don't even know who he is?” I grumbled, and let out a sigh.

This was the first time I had seen someone like that.

Why was today looking like a very terrible day?

Tears pulled up in my eyes again. It wasn't because of Kenna or those pictures.

The person who hurt me the most was Leon Caster. He was my childhood friend and we promised to stick together.

"I hate you, Leon," I whispered, my voice cracking. "I really hate you.” Wiping my tears, I heard the sound of the doors opening.

It was probably another student but I didn't care. The least thing I wanted was to get involved in another person's business.

"I believe this belongs to you.”

I froze, there was no way I'd miss the way that voice sounded even if I had only just heard it once.

My eyes went up, and standing in front of me was the same guy, with his blonde hair, as his silvery blue eyes stared intensely at me.

My eyes went down to his hand, to notice the book.

"You found it.” I muttered.

He nodded, before stepping closer, “It fell when you bumped into me.”

From my perspective, it looked like he wasn't sure if to invade my space at that moment.

"I wasn't sure where to find you. I checked the library first.” His voice came out, and I realised it was something that was truly pleasing to hear.

“It's okay. Thank you for bringing it, I thought I lost it.” I said with a small smile, before taking the work from his hand.

“I'm glad I got it here just in time.” He smiled back at me, and it was the warmest thing I had seen, “You wrote it right?”

I nodded hesitantly, when I usually told people this, they would laugh at me so I didn't exactly know what to expect.

“It must be really good if you have poured your passion into it.”

I felt my chest loosen and a burden left me. “I didn't catch your name please.”

“Jaxton.” He said with a small smile, “Can I sit please? I would love to hear about your book.”

I was about to answer when the doors swung open with a loud bang.

“Baby, I told you no one would be here.” Kenna purred, linking her arms with Leon, as she pressed her body to him.

Almost immediately, Leon's eyes locked onto me and a deep sense of fear filled me.

I turned to Jaxton, and his eyes were on them.

It was going to happen again. The one thing I had always been worried about.

Three weeks ago, Ethan was a new transfer student, and he had shared his notes with me for a week.

As soon as Leon saw this, Ethan had been the target of his anger.

His teammates had made life miserable for the poor boy. They tore his homework, shoved him into lockers, and beat him up in the bathroom.

The following week, Ethan transferred to another school.

Since then, no one had cared to come close to him.

“Jaxton,” I exhaled, “You have to leave. They don't want you with me please.”

Jaxton turned to me, staring at me for a long second, “What they want is not a concern. I choose to stay and I will.”

He said, and I bit my lips even harder.

Before I knew it, Leon was in front of us.

“You have a weird taste, new boy. Take one look at her. Does she look like someone you'd want standing beside you?” He said, letting out a chuckle.

Kenna also smiled, but her eyes were focused on Jaxton as she eyed him like a piece of candy.

Leon scoffed, his eyes narrowed on to the boy. There was a strange expression on his face but I couldn't point it out.

“But unless you're dying to become the next joke, or my future punching bag, you can do what you want.” He smirked.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palm.

He always did this, and this time I was too tired to speak.

I felt a shift besides me, it was Jaxton rising to his feet.

It was expected and I had no hard feelings, it was for his own saf

ety.

Then something I didn't expect happened, Jaxton took my hands, pulling me to my feet.

“Alyson, let's leave.”

No. It couldn’t be.Standing in front of me was the one person I wanted to avoid—Leon Caster.I raised my gaze, and my eyes met his father. At first, the words around me blurred. I couldn’t hear what my mother was saying. All I could think of was how I parted with Leon, by slapping his face. Now my family needed the help of his. Anger burned within me.“It’s okay, Alexandra. You have helped me with more.” Mr. Caster gave my mother a smile, and although I didn’t understand, I was glad she could finally get some help.Later that night, in a small apartment besides the large estate building, my mother sat with me.“I made arrangement with Jake. You’d be following Leon to school now, it’s easier that way. Jake offered.”My chest burned, and I clenched my fists hard, but a smile still appeared on my face.I didn’t want to make her worry, “Okay Mum. Thank you so much for everything.” I hug her, not wanting her to see the tears in my eyes. The next morning, we arrived at school, and as soon

“Alyson…”“Oh my goodness! Get away from me. Leave me alone, Leo!” I rose to my feet, cleaning off the tears in my eyes.Leo didn’t move, and I saw what looked like genuine concern as he spoke, “You were crying? What happened?” I scoffed. Was he trying to fool me? After that stunt he pulled in the hallway?“You happened, Leon. I allowed you back into my life, and now you have made it a living hell.” My voice was raised but I didn’t care.My destination was getting far from this place, and especially not planning to stumble on him.“Alyson,” Leon blocked my path, and his hand came to my face, “Who hit you?”My stomach twisted from disgust, and the urge to vomit welled up in my throat, overwhelming me.Leon narrowed his eyes, “Alyson.”I couldn’t take it anymore, and my hand landed on his face. “Stay away from me.” I spat. There was no way I’d fall for his silly tricks again.Gripping the hand of my bag, I took my leave. An hour later, I walked through the doors of my home, my eyes not

I couldn’t understand what I had just heard.“Leon.” I rose to my feet.Leon ignored me, his eyes remained on Kenna. I gripped the hem of my skirt as I waited for him to look at him.“You kissed me, Leon.” When I couldn’t wait any longer, I blurted out the truth.A dark glare was instantly sent my way, and it made my heart shutter.“Yeah, I did, and I got some good cash doing it too.” Leon made his way to me. “Do you know how traumatized I feel to subject myself to something as disgusting as that.”My heart lodged in my throat. Back when we were kids, Leon would always stand up for me, but this was something else.“Listen to me, Alyson. I did you a favor. As a matter of fact, you should be thanking me for giving you an experience you would not have in a long time.” Leon chuckled, and everyone in the hall started laughing.“Right,” Kenna stepped forward. “She’s making look like you were happy doing it.” She said, and turned to me, her body resting on Leon’s arm. “You’d never be worth i

I thought you weren’t into sports.” Carly said besides me and I quickly turned to her.“I’m sorry.” The words left my lips, and a blush crept on my face, but I turned away.I couldn’t let anyone know I had a crush on the best football player in our school. It was silly. Why would a nerd like me think of such a chance?I wasn’t just any nerd, I was also chubby. The crowd went wild with cheers when Leon stepped out, holding up the award.A lady with blonde hair stepped out, and right in front of everyone, Leon gave her a full kiss.My heart fell to my stomach, and I pressed my books closer
