“ I want to believe that you did not hear me clearly so I’ll state it again, let go of her hand” leon said.

I”m surprised that Jaxton did not let my hand go, this is the first time someone did not worship leon and boy does he look pissed off.

“You have 5 seconds to let go of her hand” leon’s voice echoed in the basketball court.

One….

Two….

Jaxton did not glance back, he just kept walking off with my hands still in his.

“I could hear kenna questioning Leon on why he is so angry as I walked off”.

As we stepped into the hallway, I can feel everyone staring at me, wondering why the new student is holding hands with me.

I tried to pull my hands away but Jaxton held it tighter.

“Was he dared to hold hands with her? I heard someone ask.

“Poor boy, I’ll rather fail all my classes than be caught holding hands with her” another answered.

I lowered my head.

I don’t know why their statement still hurts, I should have been used to it by now.

Ever since Leon started embarrassing me publicly with Kenna, I’ve become the school’s biggest joke.

So why did this still sting?

Jaxton pushed a classroom door open for me.

“You can stay here to cool off a bit” he said.

Thank you, I answered softly

“Why did you help me?” I asqed softly

“Becasue someone had to” he replied as he slipped his hands into his pockets.

I let out a bitter laugh.

“I don’t think you understand what you have done” I said.

“Then explain it to me.”

“No one has ever crossed Leon and he doesn’t let things go. If he doesn’t get to you today, he will definitely try again tomorrow”

Jaxton slipped his hands out of his pocket and smiled.

“Then maybe it’s about time he met his match.

The bell rings and the moment is interrupted.

Students have started entering the classrooms, I let out a small bye as I quickly go to my sit.

For the rest of the day, I try my best to avoid Leon and Jaxton.

I still hear students whispering about what happened in the hallway

“Did you see the new guy ?”

“Leon is going to kill him”

“I heard he held hands with Alyson”

“I saw Alyson throwing herself at him”

My chest tightened.

That's how rumours worked. They took the truth and twisted it and left me to bear the consequences of their actions.

Every whisper felt like it was aimed at me.

I keep my head down pretending to focus on the lesson but their words are getting to me

“She’s dead tomorrow"

“The new guy doesn’t know what he has gotten himself into”

“The final bell rang, and I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

Students poured into the hallway, I packed my bags with my head down and waited till everyone left the class.

“Maybe if I leave quickly, Leon will not see me”

Just as I stepped into the hallway…….

“Leaving without me”

My heart stopped.

Leon

He was leaning against the lockers with his arms crossed.

I forgot we now live together.

I looked up to answer him but his eyes weren't fixed on me.

He was staring at Jaxton behind me.

“She didn’t tell you?” he asked, letting out a low chuckle

“Alyson and I live together under the same roof.

Jaxton frowns slightly.

Leon slipped his hands into his pocket.

“Our parents are close friends and Alyon here and her mum couldn’t afford to pay rent anymore, so my parents took them in”

My cheeks burned with embarrassment.

Leon stepped closer, his eyes never leaving Jaxton,

“So if you want to know anything about Alyson…… I’m the right person to ask.

“Living in the same house doesn’t give you the right to treat her like she is yours” Jaxton replied calmly.

The smirk on Leon’s face falters for a second.

“I’ll watch my mouth if I were you”.

Leon looks at me “Come on, we are going home now”

I hesitated, looking back at Jaxton. He gave me a small nod telling me it was fine.

Without another word, I followed Leon.

Leon tries to talk to me on the drive home and I do not respond.

The moment he drives through the gate, I jump out of his car.

“Leave the new boy alone”

I stared at him in disbelief

“Excuse me”

“You heard me, stop talking to him, stop looking at him, stay away from him before things get really messy”

“Why?”

He took a step closer

“Because if you don’t….. A cold smile spread across his face, “you are not going to like what happens next”

I swallowed hard, refusing to cry in front of him.

“You are unbelievable”

He shrugged.

“Call it whatever you want, just remember that I warned you”.

He chuckled then walked into the house.

My chest tightened as tears blurred my vision.

My voice barely above a whisper

“What did I ever do to deserve all this, Leon”

There was no answer.

Just silence.

  • Dear Bully, you are too late    chapter 19

I barely slept that night. Keena's questions kept running through my mind, but Leon's warning bothered me even more. He hadn't explained why I should stay away from her, and knowing Leon, I doubted he would give me an answer even if I asked. The next morning, I decided I was done trying to figure him out. If Leon wanted to be mysterious, that was his problem. I had enough of my own. I walked into the kitchen and found my mom already sitting at the table with Mrs. Caster. They were talking and laughing, while Leon sat across from them, scrolling through his phone. Mrs. Caster looked up when I entered. "Good morning, sweetheart. Come and eat before you're late." "Good morning." I sat down and reached for the plate in front of me. I could feel Leon's eyes on me, but when I looked up, he was staring at his phone again. I ignored him. At least, I tried to. "Are you going to school with Leon today?" my mom asked. I looked at him. "Apparently." Leon finally looked up. "Appar

I couldn't stop thinking about the note Leon had slipped onto my desk. You're changing, Alyson. I had read those four words so many times that I could practically see them whenever I closed my eyes. I wasn't sure whether I should be annoyed that he had noticed or worried about what he planned to do about it. When the final bell rang, I quickly packed my books and headed toward the hallway. I wanted to get out before Leon could find another reason to remind me about tutoring, but I barely made it past the classroom door before someone stepped in front of me. "Leaving already?" I looked up and found Keena leaning against the wall. "Yes. I have somewhere to be." She smiled. "With Jaxton?" I frowned. "Why do you care?" "I don't." Her answer came too quickly. I adjusted my backpack. "Then why are you asking?" Keena pushed herself away from the wall and walked beside me. "I'm just curious. You've been here for barely any time, and suddenly you're always with him." "He's my fri

Something Has Changed I woke up the next morning feeling strangely proud of myself. I had actually stood up to Leon. It hadn't been some dramatic argument, and I hadn't exactly won anything, but for once, I hadn't backed down. Maybe that was what I needed. Maybe I needed to stop being afraid of every reaction he might have. I got dressed and headed downstairs, expecting the usual uncomfortable breakfast. Instead, Leon wasn't there. I looked around the kitchen. "Where's Leon?" I asked before I could stop myself. Mrs. Caster glanced at me. "He's already left. He had basketball practice early this morning." "Oh." I took a seat. For some reason, I felt relieved. "Are you expecting him?" my mom teased. "No." I immediately looked down at my plate. "I was just asking." She smiled but didn't say anything else. I focused on my breakfast, trying not to think about the fact that I had actually been looking for him. That was ridiculous. By the time I reached school, I had a

For the first time in days, I didn't feel like I was running away from something. I sat across from Jaxton at the smoothie shop, staring at the menu while he tried to convince me that the most expensive drink was obviously the best choice. "You're not seriously considering that one," I said. He looked offended. "Why not?" "Because it's almost twice the price of mine." "Exactly. Twice the price means twice as good." "That's not how anything works." "Let me have this." I laughed and shook my head. "Fine. But when you realize it tastes terrible, don't blame me." He grinned. "Deal." For the next few minutes, Leon was the furthest thing from my mind. We talked about school, complained about our professors, and argued over which movie was better between two movies neither of us had actually watched recently. It was easy. Too easy. I hadn't realized how badly I needed an afternoon like this until I was finally having one. Jaxton rested his elbows on the table

  • Dear Bully, you are too late    chapter 15

For the first time since I moved into the Caster house, I woke up looking forward to going to school. Not because of the classes. Definitely not because of Statistics. I had spent most of the previous night thinking about the plans Jaxton and I had made. After yesterday's failed attempt, I was determined not to let anything ruin them again. Today, I was getting my smoothie. No tutoring. No interruptions. No Leon. At least, that was the plan. I walked into the kitchen with a small smile on my face, only for it to disappear when I saw Leon already sitting at the table. He glanced up briefly. "Morning." "Morning." That was it. No sarcastic comment. No warning. Not even a mention of yesterday. I sat down beside my mom and reached for a piece of toast. Mrs. Caster smiled at me. "You seem happy this morning." "I'm just in a good mood." Leon continued eating as if he hadn't heard her. I glanced at him. For some reason, his silence made me more suspicious than his usual r

  • Dear Bully, you are too late    chapter 14

By the time the final lecture ended, I was already thinking about leaving campus. Not because I was excited to go home.Quite the opposite.I had been counting down the minutes until I could finally get out of the classroom and forget about Statistics, tutoring, and, most importantly, Leon Caster.I shoved my books into my bag as the professor dismissed us and stood up."Alyson."I turned around.Jaxton was standing beside my desk, holding his backpack."You heading home?""Eventually."He smiled. "Good. Because I have an idea."I raised an eyebrow."That sounds suspicious.""It isn't.""That's exactly what someone with a suspicious idea would say."He laughed."There’s a smoothie place not far from here. I thought we could go for a while before you head home."I hesitated. The thought of spending an afternoon with Jaxton sounded so much better than sitting in a library with Leon while he pretended not to care about Statistics."Okay."His smile widened."Okay?""Okay.""Great.
