LOGINElvira’s POV
My feet hurt; the heels I wore made my toes bleed. I was pregnant, yet I was made to wear this tight gown. A gown I could barely breathe in. They said my so-called husband and I were supposed to welcome the guest, but I was the only one standing by the entrance, welcoming the guest like a butler. My mind was on how my daughter was doing and how she ate nuts. I excused myself from the entrance, I needed to check my daughter’s room to figure out who gave her the cupcakes. “Have you lost it?” I stopped right in front of the studies when I heard Casper yell at someone. I wanted to ignore it but I saw Karisa inside the room as the door was slightly open. I scoffed with disgust. Now, they aren’t even hiding. “I did it for us!” Karisa yelled back and I couldn’t help but be curious. “Did I ask you to kill my child! You freaking knew she was allergic to nuts and you purposely fed them to her!” Casper yelled, “Now she is lying in the hospital.” My ear rang. I must be hearing things, not Karisa, that’s impossible. That was the last person I had suspected. I had suspected my in-laws, never did I think the person who loves Akira the most tried to kill her. I was beyond numb, and my chest tightened so that I could barely breathe. Casper sighed as he hugged her, “I promised you that the moment she gives birth, I will push her out of this house, I don’t want my kids getting hurt.” “I don’t just want her out, I want her dead,” Karisa said and at that point, I didn’t know how to feel. I haven’t even had the moment to process everything I had witnessed today. Everything was still a blur. “I will call the truck driver and get it done,” My jaw dropped as I watched my husband reassure her. I wanted to leave quietly but I accidentally pushed the door wide open. We stared at each other for a brief second. Tears and anger in my eyes as those two were holding each other in their arms. “It’s not what you think,” Casper immediately let go of Karisa, “I was just consoling her.” Anger surged through my veins, I didn’t know when I stepped inside the room and slapped Karisa across the face. “Have you gone mad!!” I yelled and they both stood in shock. Karisa’s eyes filled with tears as she said, “Why… It’s not what you think.” I could finally see right through her dirty pretense. “It’s not what I think?” I tightened my fist, “You watch Akira grow and you fed her what she was allergic to! How could you?!” Karisa wiped the tears off her eyes as she glared at me with a straight face, “How much did you hear?” “What?” “If you know too much then how can I let you leave this room alive?” Karisa said as she pushed me against the wall, and my head hit the shelf, making all the books fall on me, “Nobody would investigate how you died.” Seeing my sister, whom I had known all my life act this way scared me, and seeing my husband watch this and do nothing was even scarier. A rush of dizziness hit me as I stood up, “I’m not going to play this game with you.” Karisa grabbed me by the hair as I tried to escape from the room, and without hesitation, I dragged her hair, hoping she would free me. “Let her go,” Casper said as he forcefully pushed me away. The push was so hard that my tummy hit the edge of the table in the study. I felt a sharp pain shoot through my back and my stomach. He picked me up and slammed me against the wall, his expression hardened, something about him shifted, as something snapped, “Have you gone mad! Do you want to harm my woman and our baby?” My woman? Our baby? What more could I hear at this moment? I was already torn, so this only tore me more, “I will definitely kill you today,” he said as he wrapped his hand around my neck. He looked me deep in the eyes and tightened his grip. I couldn’t breathe, I was struggling to stay alive, I scratched his hand, but he was stronger than me, and I had already lost a lot of strength. I felt liquid roll down my thighs and I immediately knew what was wrong. Somehow I managed to raise my hand and poked his eyes. He immediately let go of me and screamed in pain. My body ached, my vision was blurry, and I was weak but I managed to stand up and run out of the room. Karisa held my hand by the stairs, and I was too weak to struggle with her; the only thing I could do was plead, “Please…. I want to save my baby.” “I can’t let you do that. If I do, everyone downstairs will know my truth, and you know I would be a fool to make such a mistake.” The excitement in her voice could be compared to that of a child who is given the ice cream he always wanted. Seeing how she wasn’t willing to listen, I forcefully pushed her, I accidentally missed my step and rolled down the stairs. I twisted in pain while Karisa watched me from up the stairs. Despite my body being in pain, I managed to get up and run out of the house through the back door. “Where have you……” I didn’t bother to listen to my brother, I snatched the car key from his hand and ran straight to the parking lot in pain. I pressed the key till I found the car. I entered the car and drove out of the compound. I was restless, I was uncomfortable, I was barely conscious, and I needed to call someone, but there was no one to call. All my life, I have been isolated. I have only gone by the rules. The people who were my support system wanted to end me, and there was nothing I could do. I screamed both in pain and frustration as I gripped the steering wheel and stepped on the gas pedal. While driving my phone rang, just as I was about to pick it up, it fell to the ground. I struggled to pick it up, panic ran through my chest as I saw the call was from Akira’s hospital, just as I was about to pick up the call, a bright light flashed from the side, and before I could understand what was going on, a big truck on high speed hit my car and sent my car tumbling down the road. My world was turned upside down because my car was upside down. Blood was rolling down my head, I could smell petrol and I could hear it dropping on the floor. I weakly tried to push the door open but it was stuck. From my blurry vision, I could see the truck driver standing close to the car with a cigarette in his hand and a phone to his ear. I lightly hit the window, “Please …..save …..me,” My voice was barely audible as darkness slowly covered my world.Elvira’s POV I have waited three years for this day and it was finally happening. Everything has been going on smoothly. Leah was as dull as I said; she sold her shares in a heartbeat, but we haven’t gotten access to the house. Calix said to be patient.I was the highest shareholder at Casper’s company. The Jordon’s family must be happy celebrating their new launch not knowing a storm was coming into their lives. I stood in front of the mirror, and I smiled when I couldn’t recognize myself. For ten years, I was made to dress basic as a full-time housewife. My ex-mother-in-law would say nails are dangerous around my kids, she would say I didn’t need any jewelry, I was the wife yet treated like a servant, but today I was wearing the nails and expensive jewelry. My once black hair was dyed into golden blonde, my nails were done into a blue and pink French tip, and I wore a backless emerald-colored gown with silver shoes to match. Emerald? It was once my favorite color but I can’t s
Elvira’s POV Three years later I can’t even say my life is worth it anymore. For the past three years, all I have been doing is hide-and-seek. I stood in front of the hospital ward, where my daughter has been for three years. She has been unconscious since that day and I couldn’t even do anything to help her. I came from time to time to see her, but I was always fully covered, with caps, glasses, a face mask, and sometimes a nurse's uniform, so no one would recognize me. “It’s time to leave, her family will soon be here,” The nurse who I had paid to work in the hospital and be by my daughter’s side said with a tray of injections in her hand. “Is there any improvement?” My voice was barely audible. “She moved her finger the night I played the audio you sent,” The nurse said and a small smile appeared at the corner of my lip.I sometimes send an audio of me singing her favorite lullaby so it could help her wake up soon. “Do we really need to see the child?” I heard the voice I h
Elvira’s POV I watched as he turned on the TV, “The world mourns as the eldest daughter-in-law of the president was found dead and burnt in her car,” A newscaster announced following the scene of the accident. I watched the scene in horror— how did I survive that?—then the man holding a cigarette flashed through my mind, “Did.. did….. that… man save me?” “The truck driver?” The man scoffed, “You don’t get it yet? Do you really think it was an accident?” Come to think of it, he did hit me on purpose because there was no way he didn’t see my car, and I can’t remember him helping me; he just stood there with the cigarette and was making a phone call. The more I watched the news the more my heart shattered. The family I grew up with had accused me of embezzlement of company funds, fraudulent activity in the company, tax evasion, insider trading, data violations and bribery, and corruption. “My late wife was mentally unstable,” Casper cried, and I numbly watched, “She is the re
Elvira’s POV The sound of a machine beeping rang in my ears; I could hear water dripping, and no one's presence was felt. I tried to open my eyes but I felt intense pain in my eyelids. I tried to move but the pain was worse. I didn’t know where I was or who was around. I tried my best to move, “Call the doctor,” I heard an unfamiliar voice speak, and that only made me more scared. Who was she? I have never heard this voice before. I managed to force my eyes open to see that I was in an unfamiliar room. The room was lit up but was painted in beige; the room lacked color, and it was simple. There was medical equipment in the room and the water droplets I heard earlier were the drip attached to my hand. The familiar face of the manager I had met at the hotel was here and that made me even more anxious. Did Casper save me? Or did Karisa save me? Why was the hotel manager standing next to me? The doctor came into the room, he did some examinations on me, and spoke to the manage

Elvira’s POV The cab driver stopped in front of the place Karisa drove into and it was my Father-in-law’s hotel. That was weird. If she wanted to meet her boyfriend at the hotel, then she would have used our Father’s hotel. I paid the driver and came down from the car under the pouring rainfall and followed behind Karisa. The receptionist refused to let me through, they said it was orders from above but after so much pleading, the manager of the hotel gave me a spare key card. “Whatever you are looking for is in that room,” She said gently and walked away. I took the elevator, placed the keycard in the elevator and it took me straight to the VIP room. This place was only meant for the Jordan family. I was following Karisa, so why was I given this key card? I was scared to open the door, I didn’t know what to expect, and I didn’t know what I would see or what I would hear. I wanted to turn away but I wanted to save my marriage. I wanted to clear my doubts, so I placed the key
