Casper’s POV

What was going on? What’s happening? I don’t get it, everything was fine some hours ago, and now my hard work of years ago is going down the drain.

“What do we do now?” Karisa said with her phone in her hands, “I can’t get through to my parents and my brother said they traveled for a business trip.”

I wasn’t the CEO anymore, I didn’t hold any executive position anymore so I couldn’t make any decisions regarding this matter. The system is clean so who launched an investigation and why!!

I anxiously turned to my mother, “What about Father?”

“He is currently in a meeting,” Mom said and it only made me anxious.

I sat on the couch and buried my head in my hands, “I’m scared, I don’t understand what is going on.”

“This accusation, doesn’t it sound familiar?” Leah and I turned to look at her, “What? I thought it was very familiar.”

“Yes, it is very familiar,” My daughter, Akira’s nanny, said, “This was the same thing done to Akira’s mum, and she was made to resign from her position, then it was done to her after her death.”

Leah snapped her finger, “Karisa, you always say your sister came from filthy blood. What if they both share the filthy blood? What if she wants to take revenge for her late sister?”

“That’s enough!” I yelled at Leah, “Do you think this is the time to spew nonsense?!”

“Sir, if an investigation has been launched doesn’t that mean you will be arrested soon?” Akira’s nanny reminded me of the misfortune to come and I threw her a distasteful glance.

“Babe what do we do?” Karisa asked and I shook my head.

I couldn’t even do anything. I tried calling some executives,, and they have beenscreeningg my calls. Even my secretary wasn’t responding.

Just yesterday, I was regarded as sir, and today everyone was acting busy.

“Karisa, withdraw some money from the account. We will need cash in the next few days before I work it out,” I said as I stood up. “I should go to the company; I should see what evidence they have against me.”

The stock price will fall, everything will go down the drain, shouldn’t that dead woman look alike do something? I haven’t even had the time to process any thoughts in my head.

On one hand was the dead woman’s look-alike, who is trying to destroy everything I have worked for with the help of a popular businessman, Mr Kyrell, and on the other hand was my life taking a different turn.

Who was this woman? What did she really want? Was this woman really Elvira? That’s impossible, Elvira died, Karisa killed Elvira.

I arrived at the office, and everyone was seated as if nothing had happened, but I could clearly see that their computers and files were missing.

Before, they would greet the moment they heard my footsteps, but today, they didn’t even move a muscle. My life has suddenly changed.

I ignored them and badged into the office, “Are you trying to destroy my hard work!!”

“Mr Jordan,” Elvira called calmly from her chair as she looked up from her phone. Her eyes were daring; she wasn’t that other woman. “Didn’t we speak about this before?”

“Aren’t you supposed to protect the image of this company! Do you know something like this would rather the employees be jobless!” I yelled at her.

Elvira stared at me with confusion yet calmness, “Are you barking because you have been removed from all executive positions?”

What? What was this wrench all about? “Are you playing games with me?”

The door suddenly burst open, “You shouldn’t raise your voice at my wife.”

I turned to see the face I had seen on TV, Mr Calix Kyrell. I had always hoped we would meet one-on-one. I had always dreamt of the day I would invite him to this place for a business meeting, but instead, he was standing opposite me as an enemy.

“If your stupid wife is clueless, then it means you are responsible for this madness,” I said furiously, “Do I know you? Why are you doing this to me?”

“For a new system to be established the old system has to be abolished and that’s what I did,” Calix said as he walked closer to me, “Your system was unclean and dirty, I didn’t blow the whistle, your employee did and they did with evidence to every corporate crime that has been committed.”

“What?” My body was filled with nothing but anger towards these two people standing here.

“If I were you, I would be planning my escape route instead of barking up the wrong tree,” Calix said and it only made my fist itch. Heaven knows I wanted to beat him to a pulp.

“Look,” I took a deep breath, “Tell me why both of you are doing this? This is more than acquiring just the company, what is really……”

I paused when I saw some men in black come into the office and I immediately knew who they were, “Thank you for informing us Mr Calix,”

They said to Mr Calix then turned to me, “Mr Casper, you are under arrest for bribery, manipulation, abuse of power,” The man said as he showed me the paper in his hand, “The list is long, you are entitled to a lawyer,” he said as his colleague put handcuffs on my hand.

Everything was happening so fast, I glared at the two people “I will make y’all pay for this,” I spat before I was dragged out of there.

I was seated in the investigation room for over twenty-four hours with my lawyer, “You still aren’t going to say anything even though all the evidence is clear? We just need your freaking statement!”

The investigator banged his hand on the table, and I ignored him, “Do you think everything will be fine because you are the son of the president? You have been getting away with everything, do you think you can get away from this?” The investigator scoffed as his eyes filled with disgust toward me,

“If you are waiting for your Father, then forget about it, he won’t come, he won’t be able to save you, matter of fact, he is going through his own investigation.”

“What?” I was waiting for Father to make a move since all my business partners had turned their backs on me, but what was this man spewing, “What investigation?”

The investigator turned on his phone and passed it to me. I rolled my eyes as I took it but my heart dropped immediately when I saw the world was drilling Father.

I was away from the media, and everything had changed in the blink of an eye. Father was being accused of embezzling public funds to a shell company for personal benefits; he was also accused of bribery of judges, prosecutors, and other government officials, abuse of power, and the list is long.

I sighed as I returned the phone, this is going to be a long day. We are so cooked.

“Sir,” My lawyer whispered bringing me out of my painful thoughts, “There is an issue.”

At this point, I was tired. I didn’t even know what to expect. “What?”

“Your family’s account has been frozen by the court, all assets and property belonging to the Jordan’s household have been sealed, including your house, a ban has been put on the passports of you and your family……”

“Enough,” I said defeatedly, I was weak and tired of everything, “That’s enough.”

“We are freaking cooked,” I laughed like a madman.

Nothing was going okay anymore. My house was gone, my account frozen, my company is no longer mine, and my father is under investigation, which was less expected.

A ringing sound filled my ear, and for the first time, reality crashed into me like a wave.

I couldn’t breathe, my chest tightened like there wasn’t enough air. I gripped my shirt tightly as I tried to breathe and I used the other hand to bring my lawyer’s attention.

“Sir…. Sir…. Sir,” I could hear the lawyer’s distant voice.

My eyes were blurry, I could barely see anything, “I…. I…. Need…. Need…. Air,” I managed to choke out before my blurry world turned pitched black.
