Elvira’s POV

I was checking my comments section on social media, it was funny how everyone was divided into two; some said Casper Late’s wife and I were different people, and some said we were the same. They were busy playing spot the difference while some were complimenting me.

“Are you trying to destroy my hard work!!” I lifted my head from my phone to see Casper in my office.

What was he doing here again? We argued but I was more surprised to see the argument between Casper and Calix.

“What did you do?” I questioned after the investigators led Casper out of the office.

“I got him arrested,” Calix said and I stared at him in disbelief.

“What? You did what!” I didn’t even know when I yelled at him, “Have you gone mad! Why would you do such a thing?”

“Why are you yelling?” Calix asked calmly, “What I did was right.”

“How the heck was it right?” I sparked, “Can’t you see what you have done? I planned this for three good years and you messed it up in one day.”

“Elvira…..”

“Don’t call my name!” I raised my voice and Calix fisted his hand, “Yes he has a lot of crime to his name but handing him over to the authorities would only free him from the hell on earth I wanted to bring to him,” I furiously pointed my finger at Calix, “Because of you my revenge ended before it even began and I will never forgive you for it.”

“Are you done speaking?” Calix was still calm and emotionless, “Ever since Becky brought you to me, everything I have ever done is in your interest, and you dare to speak ill of me?”

I took a deep breath, “I know everything you have done is for my interest but this wasn’t, you made a mistake this time, can’t you see jail is an easy punishment.”

“If you will not think for yourself then I will think for you, I will not allow you to wash down my years of hard work because of your blindness for fast revenge,” Calix gritted, “Let me remind you that you are still Elvira, even if the world is comparing you now, sooner or later they will find out who you are.”

“How will they find out?” I questioned furiously. I know I wasn’t supposed to be angry, but I couldn’t help but feel angry.

“How? Please don’t make me laugh,” Calix scoffed, “Have you forgotten that your daughter is still alive? Very soon, the family you are destroying will ask why you are doing it, they will say it’s not a coincidence, they will suspect you and they will prove you are that Elvira.”

I shouldn’t have raised my voice at him, “Calix…..”

Calix put his hand up in the air, shutting me up, “When they prove you are Elvira, do you think they will let you off the hook? No, they won’t, they will bring the crimes that you didn’t commit, and you will suffer for it.”

He just wanted to clear my name, what have I done?

“You want the house right? You will get the house, you will get everything, Casper will be rendered useless and you will help them and make them pay,” Calix said, “You are emotional so it’s normal to make emotional decisions but I don’t have any emotional ties to that family so I will only make logical decisions.”

“I’m sorry,” I apologized.

“I understand how you feel, so I won’t judge you,” Calix said, “You should get some rest, the next twenty-four hours are going to be hectic.”

“Calix,” I called softly, “It’s obvious why I hate this family, but you don’t have any connection to this family, so why do you hate them more than I do?”

“You are overthinking things,” Calix said, “Why would I hate the people I don’t know? Becky brought you to me and I couldn’t turn a blind eye.”

I didn’t want to argue, I wanted to ask if Becky bring someone else then would he also do the same thing but instead I nodded my head, “Okay, what do you plan on doing next?”

“Nothing, everything has been done so all we have to do is watch and see,” Calix said confidently, “You should get ready to buy the house you desire.”

I nodded my head again then proceeded to arrange my bag, “I should go home, I’m tired.”

“I understand, it’s a long day,” Calix politely took my bag from my hand, and that surprised me to the bone. “What do you want to eat?”

I was surprised by the question, “Are we close enough to ask each other that?”

Calix chuckled lightly, “Even though we are pretend husband and wife we can still be nice to each other.”

I nodded my head with a surprise smile on my face, “I will eat anything you have the chef make.”

“Sure,” Calix said, and we walked out of the office in a comfortable silence.

For a moment, I thought the argument we had would destroy the little trust we had in ourselves but it somehow made us laugh a bit. I don’t think we have ever spoken this much to ourselves and even if we did, we spoke about revenge.

I had dinner that the chef prepared. I was extremely tired, but I couldn’t sleep. It was normal, I kept having nightmares about the day I was in an accident and I had to depend on sleeping pills.

My pills were finished, and I didn’t even realize it. “Why are you still up?” Ciera asked when I came downstairs while she was watching TV.

“My pills are out, so I wanted to see if any pharmacy was open so I could get some,” I responded to her.

“That’s weird,” She muted the TV and threw me a suspicious look, “You and my cousin’s marriage is strange, you both are married and don’t share the same room and right now you don’t even know he has a lot of sleeping pills.”

That was a surprise, I have never heard of this nor seen this, “Calix has a lot of sleeping pills, why?”

“Calix depends on them to sleep,” Ciera said, “He had a really traumatic child……”

“Ciera,” Calix called, stopping Ciera from speaking, “Can you please help me put the fruits in the fridge?” Calix said as he showed the bags of fruit he brought home.

“Sure,” Ciera stood up from the couch, took the fruit, and left the living room.

“Are you going somewhere?” Calix asked as he looked at me from head to toe.

“I wanted to get pills, mine are finished,” I explained, but my mind was still fixed on what Ciera wanted to say.

“I will ask Becky to bring some to your room,” Calix said then walked away from the living room to the kitchen. I believe he was going to talk to Ciera.

I went upstairs, and in the next few minutes, Becky came with the pills. I wanted to ask her about what Ciera said, but Becky was so tight-lipped that I don’t think she would say anything. I took the pills and went to sleep.

“OMG!!” Ciera’s scream woke up me from sleep. I picked up my phone to check the time and I saw it was already noon.

I must have slept in. Though I felt tired and dizzy, I stood up to go see why Ciera screamed, “Are you good?”

“Something big just happened.” It must be good news if she is this excited. “The president is currently facing charges.”

I stared at her with confusion. I was the happiest that my ex-Father-in-law was getting published with the evidence I gave Becky, but Ciera said, “Is this something to be happy about?”

“Yes! It’s ka……”

“Casper’s assets have been frozen by the bank, so you will get the house soon,” Calix said, interrupting Ciera again.
