LOGINSerena We arrived at our new home yesterday after two exhausting days, but we got here safely. While Conall is meeting with the construction team, I’ve started unpacking, but that’s not what I’m doing right now. For the past half an hour, I’ve been freaking out, yanking everything out I had already put away because I lost my engagement ring! I can’t believe it! I haven’t even had it for a week, and it’s already gone! It must be somewhere in the house. I haven’t been anywhere else, and I had it this morning. Conall is going to think I don’t care enough about it for being so careless with it. I will never forgive myself if I can’t find it.Tears gather in my eyes as I search everywhere for it, yet I still can’t find it. How could this happen? What's wrong with me? I never lose things, especially something important like my ring. How do I even tell him it's lost? I sit at the foot of the bed, bury my face in my hands, and groan, letting tears fall. I feel so stupid! “Serena, what is wr
Conall I’ve barely slept, but I feel good. I’m on a high after last night. I’ve been awake since three-thirty, having had only a couple of hours’ sleep since we celebrated on our return, in one of the best ways we know how. Serena is still sound asleep, but I need to wake her very soon so we can get on the road. I went out to get some coffee to try to encourage her to wake up because I know she is going to be cranky because she is up so early. I sit on the bed, watching her sleep for a moment. She looks beautiful and peaceful. I hate that I need to wake her up, but we have a long drive ahead of us. I chuckle when I see her ring. When she said she wasn’t ever taking it off, she meant it, because she slept with it on. It would be best for her to take it off at night in case it gets lost or she scratches herself, but I love that she doesn’t want to take it off.I reach in and caress her cheek. “It is time to wake, my beautiful fiancée.”She groans. “No, it can’t be that time already.”
Serena I look at Conall and the beautiful diamond ring he's holding. I'm stunned, not expecting this, but now I see why he was so nervous. I never imagined I'd be in this situation again—another man asking me to marry him. This time, it's different because he's a good man who genuinely loves me and won’t hurt me so deeply that I lose myself. “Serena, we have been through a lot, together and apart. Somehow, even after everything, we are still here, planning our lives, loving one another and growing stronger every day. Serena, I never imagined you would be the woman I would spend the rest of my life with, but now I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else. I know you still have some fear after what happened last time, but I promise I will never hurt you like that. I love you and want to love you for the rest of your life, to take care of you and protect you, as one should. Serena, will you marry me?” Tears well in my eyes as each shaky word comes from his lips. I open my mouth to s
Conall “I didn’t realize you could come up onto the roof,” Serena says as the four of us step outside onto the rooftop.“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” my mom smiles. The city view is stunning. There are lights set up everywhere on the walls, the door and the table. There's a table with champagne, four glasses, and some sweet treats. I appreciated my mom saying something to distract Serena. Usually, they don’t have setups like this on the roof, so I had to pull some strings and pay a bit extra to arrange it. “It is. The view is out of this world.” Serena gushes, heading to stand at the wall and snaps some photos.Sometimes I forget how beautiful the city truly is because of all the ugliness and the people who fill it. It is really stunning. I pull out my cell to quietly take a photo of Serena. It's a beautiful, natural shot. Eric appears at my side. “Are you ready?”I look at him and smile. “I've never been more prepared for anything in my life. I hope everything turns out as I want.”
SerenaWe were preparing for our farewell dinner. It will be a lot to handle, but I believe everyone will adjust eventually. Since we have a long drive tomorrow, a relaxing evening is helpful, but we need to limit alcohol because we'll be driving. We'll drive for eight hours and then stay at a motel overnight. “Conall, are you okay? I know this will be hard, but you seem nervous about something. Are you?” I ask.He has seemed a bit off all day. I understand saying goodbye to his mom will be difficult for him, but I suspect there's more to his behavior than just that. “Yes, I am fine. It is just going to be hard to say goodbye.” He sighs and sits down on the bed.I feel bad that he is leaving her behind. I know it is what he wants, but part of me feels guilty because if I hadn’t shown up and come back into his life, he wouldn’t need to leave her.Sighing, I take the seat next to him and rest my hand on his knee. “We can stay if you want.”He shakes his head. “No, we've gone over this
ConallWe only have a couple of days left until we head to Colorado. All our belongings are already on the way. We have booked into a hotel because there is nothing left in the apartment, and it no longer belongs to Serena. My mom offered for us to stay at hers, but we politely declined, wanting our privacy and letting them have theirs. It has been fun being locked away in a hotel room. We have barely left it since we booked it a week ago. We wanted to stay somewhere while we packed everything up, so everything could go, and we didn’t need to keep anything. A few hours ago, I left the hotel to handle something, but now I’m heading back to Serena. I’ve brought food, coffee, and snacks—we need to recharge. We haven’t been sleeping much. Our sex life has returned to how it used to be; we seize any opportunity. It decreased during the stressful period, but now that’s behind us, we’re both feeling relaxed and happy. Returning to the hotel, I head directly to our suite. I walk in, calling
ConallI am not sure if I made the right choice, agreeing to continue with Serena, but I am willing to give it a try. She knows where I stand and what needs to change. If she is willing to work through this together, then things will be fine, but if things go back to how they were, I am done for go
SerenaI woke a little while ago. Conall is still asleep next to me. His alarm will go off soon, but I have a better way to wake him. One thing I am sure he would appreciate more. I smirk, carefully climbing out of bed and going to use the bathroom, freshening myself up before I slip back into bed.
Conall I enter the office, feeling good after my morning with Serena. I had a spring in my step, ready to start my day. I smile and say hello to everyone as I go to my office. I would have much preferred to stay home with Serena, but I need to work. She is coming to mine tonight, well, maybe, she
SerenaI am nervous as I wait for Conall. What did his father say to him? It must have something to do with me if he asked to meet and it couldn’t wait until tonight. I can imagine the things he said. He never did like me. He tried to hit on me once while I was married to Henry. I shot him down, an
