Mag-log inSerenaConall has officially moved in; all his things are here. It only took a few days since he wasn’t working. I went out to deal with some things, and when I returned a few hours later, the rest of his belongings had arrived. He hired a company to help him. Although he had to put a lot in storage, he seemed okay with that. We plan to take everything out before we leave for a fresh start and find a bigger place where it all fits. Things have been quiet; we’ve heard nothing from Henry or the police. Thankfully, we keep busy with other things. Right now, I am enjoying peach iced tea while Conall steps out to pick up lunch. I love having him around, but a half hour of "me" time is welcome. After nearly a year alone, I’m still adjusting to someone being around. I close my eyes, rest my head against the sofa, and take in the silence. Suddenly, my cell rings and shatters the calm. With a groan, I glance down at a number I don’t recognise. I could ignore it, but it might be business, so I
Conall“What are you going to do with this place?” Serena asks as we pack up some of my things.I will either sell or lease it. I need to review the market and determine the best course.I am only packing what we can fit in the cars today. I can get the rest of my things at some point because it will take a while to get this place rented or sold. The place isn’t cheap, and the economy isn’t at its best right now.“Are you sure you don’t want to hold onto it in case you end up hating living with me?” There is a nervousness in her voice when she asks.I glance up at her from the floor where I am packing up some boxes. “That won’t happen, baby girl.”I know it won’t. I have faith that it will work out for us.“You sound certain. I can be a stubborn jackass at times.”I raise my brow at her. “Something I am already familiar with. Trust me, it will work. Have a little faith, sweetness.”Serena nods and smiles. “You should rent, maybe short term, it would work better for you in the long run
SerenaWe finally heard, and surprisingly, they are doing something about the assault on Conall. For everything else, since it involves federal matters, the case is being handed over to the FBI. They haven’t told us much, but just enough to know that something is getting done. It is now a waiting game. It could take months, but the best thing for us to do is get on with our lives and hope they don’t find out it was us and try to cause more trouble. If they do, we will fight back harder, and it will just give us more evidence to hand over to them.It has been a stressful week, but we have taken a step in the right direction. The assault on Conall should be dealt with more quickly than everything else, since they have everything they need. I still can’t help but worry that it won’t work out how we want it to, but we will need to find that out and try not to overthink it all.I arrive at my apartment, where for the first time in weeks we will be staying tonight. Conall should be here soo
ConallI feel anxious as I meet my mom for coffee. She’s unaware of what’s happening. I haven’t told her yet, but I plan to today. I’m uncertain how she’ll respond. I hope she understands and supports my choice. The main update is that we submitted everything, but haven’t received any feedback. Tomorrow, we’ll return to the station to speak in person. We’ve given them enough time. A two-minute call would have sufficed for an update, but nothing came. I can’t tell if that’s positive or negative. We’ll know tomorrow.I step into the cafe, breathe deeply, and search for my mom. I see her waiting. Serena isn’t here today. Her presence would calm me, but I must face this alone. I put on my best smile and approach the table. Mom stands to hug me. I return the hug, holding tighter and longer than usual. I am a mama’s boy, and I admit it. No matter how old you get, parents provide comfort that no one else can. Mom doesn’t mind. I release her after a moment, and we sit to order drinks.“Conall
SerenaIt has been a few days, but we haven’t heard a thing. If we still haven’t heard from anyone within the next couple of days, I will be paying them a visit to see what is going on. Clearly, they must still be working on things because we would have heard by now if anyone had been taken in or arrested. It would have been all over the news or one of them would have paid us a visit. None of that has happened. We are just going about our days normally the best we can. I still have no idea if Felicty has left Henry or not. Basically, we are no further along as of yet. We are trying not to let it gets to us, but sometimes that is easier said than done. Conall has been burying himself in work, that is his way of dealing with it. I am been doing the same, but it means we aren’t getting as much together, but it is a process and that is fine.I just finished with my day and heading to Conall’s office. I want to make sure he doesn’t work late into the night. I want him to come home, well, t
ConallI sigh as we leave the police station. It is going to be a waiting game now to see what happens. We gave them everything. Told them everything, and now we can’t do anything else until they take the next step. If they take the next step. I have no idea who they have in their pocket, but it doesn’t matter either way because if they don’t do something about it, we will find someone else who will.“I know it is a stressful time, my love, but we have done everything we can, and now we just need to wait. Let’s go get some food and coffee, try not to think about it too much.” Serena says softly, resting her hand on the small of my back.I turn to her. “Yes, good idea. Thank you for coming with me.” I reply and reach in, kissing her softly.“I will always be here for you, Conall, in the same way you have been there for me. We are in this together, no matter what happens. I promise.”“Always.”The sooner all of this is over, the better. We can get on with our lives, maybe move away and
SerenaI told Conall I was going home when I left him. I am not. I have another stop to make first. If my ex-father-in-law wants to threaten me, he can do it to my face rather than through other people like the coward he is. He isn't getting away with threatening Conall either. I hop in my car and d
ConallI am on my way to Serena’s place. I am not too happy. She told me she was going home after lunch, which was a lie. I know what she did. A scene like what went down at the Country Club doesn’t go unnoticed. The worst of it is, Serena is being painted as the bad one, the crazy one who has no r
SerenaI am nervous as I wait for Conall. What did his father say to him? It must have something to do with me if he asked to meet and it couldn’t wait until tonight. I can imagine the things he said. He never did like me. He tried to hit on me once while I was married to Henry. I shot him down, an
ConallI am not sure if I made the right choice, agreeing to continue with Serena, but I am willing to give it a try. She knows where I stand and what needs to change. If she is willing to work through this together, then things will be fine, but if things go back to how they were, I am done for go
