Daisy’s POV

Two years later

I can hardly believe it’s been two years since my world turned upside down. Every day for the past twenty-four months has been a struggle. I barely recognize myself, and I often wonder how I am still here. But I know I am because someone cared for me when I could no longer care for myself. I wish we had more time together—more time to laugh, more time to talk, more time to get to know each other.

Today I visit the graveyard again. I’ve come to this place before, but this time it’s different. This time I bring my baby girl, Jasmine. She deserves to know who you are.

“Mama, mama,” little Jasmine calls, reaching out and holding my hand. My heart swells. My girl is my strength. She is the reason I am alive now. I brush my thumb over her soft cheek. She is so beautiful, just like her dad. The only thing she took from me is my blonde hair. But in her face, in the lines of her smile, I see him. She is his legacy.

I take a deep breath, steadying myself. “I miss you

  • Dear Ex, I Want Your Brother    Chapter 111

Daisy’s POV“Stop calling me that, I’m not your daughter!” I yell, my voice breaking halfway through. The words bounce off the cold walls, echoing back at me like they’re mocking me. My chest rises and falls quickly, each breath sharp and painful. I run my eyes around the room, searching, begging for someone—anyone—to disagree with her. Someone to say she’s wrong. Someone to tell me that I am who I believe I am.But no one speaks.I know this is all a game. I can feel it deep down in my bones. My dad—no, Richard—is trying to play us again. He always plays with people’s minds, bending truth until it breaks. I can’t let him win this time. I’ll make him take everything back. Every single word. Every single lie.My hands shake as I turn toward him. “Dad, tell her to stop calling me that,” I plead, my voice trembling. “Tell her I’m your daughter. I’m Daisy Turner.” My throat tightens as I say my own name. I can barely breathe. My vision blurs at the edges. My heart feels like it’s trying t

Daisy's POV I watched it all unfold through a haze of terror and disbelief. My heart pounded so hard I could feel it in my throat. I felt so small. “Trey, I haven’t done anything against you, please let us go,” Anna begged, her voice trembling with fear. She lifted her head and my breath caught when I saw her battered face: swollen cheeks, lips cracked and dry, as though someone had been hitting her non-stop.A shocked gasp from my left told me even Cynthia felt it, the shock and sorrow at the same time. Then Trey jerked his head toward Anna, a sick smile curling the corner of his mouth. “Sorry, love,” he said, his voice cold but calmer than before. “True, you haven’t done anything to me. But you’ve done something to my boss… and he’ll never let you see tomorrow.”I felt my stomach drop. I couldn’t swallow. Someone is going to die today. This is so crazy. I tried to steady myself.Trey took a deep breath, shook his head slowly, and added, “You were a good lay—too bad I can easily ge

Daisy's POVI cannot remember what happened. I try to open my eyes, but all I see is darkness swirling all around me. It feels like I’m floating underwater, or lying in deep space—no ground, no sky, just a void pressing in.“Daisy! Daisy! Wake up, please,” I hear a familiar female voice, soft but urgent. My heart leaps toward it. There is fear in her voice, but also something warmer, comfort. In that moment, that voice becomes the only thing real.I open my eyes, slowly, inch by inch. The room is dimly lit, I attempt to move my arms. I try to pull my hands, but they won’t budge. I try again and again. My shoulder joints ache with every attempt, a deep throbbing pain that makes me wince.“Don’t waste your breath, they made sure to tie it strong.” The same familiar voice, but now tinged with bitterness and frustration. I turn my head to the left, trying to see where she is.Tears well up in my eyes. I land them on her face. It’s Cynthia. My best friend. She’s tied to a chair. Her perfe

Liam’s POVThe manager returned after barely five minutes, holding his phone out to me.“Son… Liam,” my dad’s voice came through the receiver, full of worry. My chest tightened instantly. Of course, this man had to go and tell him. At least he hadn’t called the police yet. That was a small mercy, but only a small one.I took a deep breath and spoke softly, trying to keep my panic hidden. “Dad, I can explain, but I don’t have time right now. I’m pretty sure someone is watching me. Please, just approve it.”Ever since I left the hospital, I had noticed a black motorcycle following me, taking every turn, every corner. Whoever was on it was skilled, careful, and probably deadly. I could not afford to make a single mistake. Not one.“Okay, son,” my dad’s voice sounded tired, almost resigned. I wished I could tell him everything, lay it all out, but I couldn’t. Not if I wanted anyone to survive this.I handed the phone back to the manager. He spoke to my dad for a few seconds more before en

Liam's POV Inside, we found a woman frozen in fear, her face twisted, breath hitching. We knew she was about to scream. We couldn’t let that happen — not when we didn’t know who else might be hiding nearby. Before a sound could escape her lips, Jason quickly wrapped his hands tight around it. Not enough to hurt her though, just to stifle her screams. We’ve never seen ourselves as violent. Maybe that was a lie. Or maybe we just hadn’t been pushed far enough until now."We're not going to hurt you. We just need to ask you a few questions. Nod if you understand and won't scream so we can let go of your mouth." I have no idea why that sounded like the worst mistake I could have made today.Thank God, the woman at the store actually knew something. According to her this is driver is currently in the hospital but she didn't know if he was with anyone, though."All we heard were gunshots." She said quietly. "After the vehicles left, some neighbors stepped out only to see a man laying on the
