Lena's POV.

"Mrs Whitmore, I thought I mentioned that you must treat this early." The doctor said as he stroked his forehead and I furrowed my brows at him in confusion.

"Treat what?" I asked and he let out a frown, putting on gloves.

"I told Mr. Whitmore you have stomach cancer and if not treated properly, it will be fatal." The doctor explained, and it felt like my world had just been crushed.

'I have what?' I pondered, shaking my head sideways in disbelief.

"I know we are close, Dr. Andrew, but today is not April Fool's." I forced a chuckle, the air around me turning suffocating.

"I wouldn't joke about such a condition. It's why you have been looking so lean and pale. You are sick." The doctor debunked and I sat there, frozen in shock.

This couldn't be happening? How?

"Mr. Whitmore told me you never listened and just insisted on completing the company's project first, before you came for any treatment." The doctor began and a gasp escaped my lips.

Wait! My husband, Dane knew about this?

But he never told me anything. Rather, he was the one who often worried about how stressed I looked, especially when my hair started falling out.

I had always assured him it was just stress or my lack of appetite but who would have thought...?

"It's too late now. Only a 30 percent survival rate is left. The cancer has eaten deep in you, you would have to sha...." The doctor's words faded as my heart tightened in my chest.

Dane knew I was gonna die and didn't inform me?

'But why?' I wondered, lost in thought, not wanting to believe my husband could do this to me.

He was finally starting to approve of me, I mean I was now making him happy. That's why I took on this project in the first place.

I wanted to secure the contract for him, make a breakthrough, and I did, only to collapse while cheering and about to call for celebration. I woke up in the hospital and the doctor was now telling me this?

I needed an explanation, most especially from Dane because he just signed my death warrant, if what the doctor just told me was true.

"I need to leave," I told the doctor, while removing the drips from my hand, ignoring the pain that came with it. Well, it was nothing compared to how my heart was aching at the moment.

I ignored Dr. Andrew's calls, got into my car, and drove back home, my hands gripping the steering wheel tight as I stared at my pale reflection in the mirror.

I looked like I had AIDS and my head looked scanty. I ran into the mansion, ignoring the servant's greetings as I walked up the stairs, trying to calm myself down.

I was about to open the door to my bedroom when I heard a very loud moan that made my heart stop.

'That voice. I would recognize it anywhere.' I thought, my hand holding the doorknob trembling as I twisted it open, stepping inside.

Lying on the bed was Dane, with Tia, one of my best friends.

She was riding him, her head thrown backwards in pleasure as he grabbed her waist and shoved himself into her, from underneath.

My legs wobbled and I collapsed to the floor, letting out an unbelievable chuckle.

'How could Tia of all people do this to me?' I wanted to cry out but raised my head to see them separating from one another.

Tia scratched the back of her hair, refusing to look me in the eyes, probably from shame while Dane relaxed against the bed, staring at me blankly.

"Why?" I whispered and he scoffed.

"Don't act surprised, I never did love you after all." His words sliced through me like a blade.

He wasn't wrong. I had been the one who was ready to dedicate my world to him since childhood. I did everything so he could love me, or even look at me, the way he looked at her, back in College.

'Dear Nina.' I sighed, finding the strength to get up as I walked towards them on the bed.

Dane's parents and mine were not just friends but business partners who decided to wed one of their kids to the other to strengthen their bond.

Dane never gave a damn about it, he hated my every movement until I agreed to oversee the project his company has been battling with for more than 4 years.

He started to care a little and I thought, finally, everything was alright.

"We got the contract," I told him, hoping to get any other reaction from him, aside from hate but he just folded his hands around his chest.

"You are finally good at something." He told me, and I bit my lower lip hard, wishing I could hit him or yell about how hurt I felt at the moment but my heart and pride wouldn't allow me.

I have been begging for Dane's love for years and yet, he never even looked at me twice. It was evident now that I had wasted all my years for nothing.

I turned to look at Tia who was already dressed and seemed ready to leave.

Anger surged through my veins.

'Just like that?' I pondered.

She made to walk past me when I grabbed her by the arms and slapped her hard.

Dane's eyes widened slightly as she collapsed to the floor with a loud cry, trembling under my glare.

I might be a fool for my husband, endure his betrayal but I wasn't gonna do the same for Tia.

Not even an apology from her. Somehow her betrayal stung more because I trusted and relayed everything to her but she pretended to be there while screwing my husband behind my back.

But wait! Did she know I had cancer too?

"I can't believe you think you could just leave like that." I rubbed my hands together before bending to grab her by the hair.

"Let her go," Dane commanded but I just ignored him, feeling my eyes sting with tears.

"Lena, I will not repeat myself," Dane warned and I huffed. "Let her go."

"Or what?" I yelled, slapping Tia again as she tried prying my hands off her. Before I could blink, Dane rose from the bed, butt-naked, and kicked me.

I coughed, tripping and almost falling backwards onto the glass table behind me. Beads of sweat gathered on my forehead, and I let out a sigh of relief, steadying myself.

I thought I was safe and was about to move away when Dane scowled and kicked me again. I let out a gasp as I fell onto the shattered table, the glass piercing through me.

"Lenaaaa," Tia screamed as she watched me cough blood in horror, shaking while my husband just stared at me, blankly.

"That's payback for killing her." He told me, and I knew instantly who he meant as the world faded from my view.

Lena's POV.He placed his hand on my shoulder, sending a jolt of electricity through me as I held back a moan, staring at him.We stood under the moonlight, and he looked so beautiful, or was the drug messing with my head?Mikahali has always been devilishly handsome, just like his brother, but I had always had my eyes on Dane, not giving a damn about Mikahali, even though he had proven time and time again how much he liked me."Let's get you home." He tried opening the car with my keys when I stopped him, tiptoed, and then sealed my lips with his.He froze, his eyes widening but I didn't care and continued to kiss him, even going as far as wrapping my hands around his waist."Stop." Mikahali pushed me away gently and for some unknown reason, that hurt. Was he rejecting me?"We shouldn't do this." He told me and I smiled, moving closer to him."But I want to and I know you do too.""Nope, you are getting married to my brother tomorrow and you are drunk." He opened the backseat and tri

Lena's POV.By the time I blinked, he was gone, nowhere to be found again as I checked around.'Did I imagine him or was I hallucinating?' I pondered as I drowned another shot down my throat."Excited about your wedding tomorrow?" Tia's annoying voice came up again and I groaned, fighting the anger burning through my veins.Could this bitch just shut her goddamn mouth?I was infuriated, but now wasn't the time for me to react or retaliate. No, I wanted them to all suffer to their deaths, slowly, just like I did. I would also have to play pretend and fool them successfully as they did to me in my past life."Yes, finally, Dane is mine," I replied, and Tia chuckled."You think so? Remember he still doesn't like you." She said the exact same words she told me previously, and then I thought she was concerned about me.But now, I just realized it was an indirect shade.I laughed within, satisfied I was no longer gullible or blind to her tricks."That's where you are wrong Tia. All I ever wanted was his love but sadly, that was my biggest mistake. If I could ever have a second chance at life, I promise to make things right.Just then;"Lena, Lena." How did I get here? Wasn't I dead? Didn't Dane push me?' I wondered as I stared at the people dancing in front of me, continuously chanting my name.Somehow, all of these seemed familiar, bringing back memories."Ladies, please let's welcome the bride-to-be, Lena." I heard the soft voice and flinched, turning immediately to see her.
