KATERINA
Sitting on the high-backed chair behind the vintage table, I furrowed my eyebrows, taking a good look at the sketch designs, turning it in different angles to make sure that I didn't miss important details. My concentration was cut short when a knock cut through the air. I granted whoever was knocking permission to enter, my eyes never leaving the sketch sketch book. It was silent inside the office and slowly, I raised my head to check who had walked in and I creased my eyebrows. It was none other than David Fernandez.“ What's wrong?” I inquired with creased eyebrows. I know things weren't good whenever David gave me that look.“ Guess what happened in the fashion market?” My heart jumped in my throat when I heard his words.“ Wha-what?” I asked hesitantly, not sure if I wanted to hear what he had to tell me. A part of me was curious while the other was afraid. What if the newly launched designs aren't performing well in the market? Fear crept inKATERINA It was silent for a while, the kind of silence that made me feel uncomfortable.“Please have a seat.” I gestured for him to sit on the couch where nanny was sitting earlier.“Tea? It's nanny's herbal recipe.” I inquired. Even though he was trying hard, I could tell that he was shivering from the cold.“How am I supposed to say no to nanny's delicious tea?” He joked and we both laughed lightly. I knew he wouldn't say no to it. We both used to love the tea. I reached for the extra mug on the tray, pouring him the hot steaming tea.“How…are your wounds?” I asked to break the weird silence. He placed the mug back on the table and straightened up, turning his full attention on me.“Getting better. It's not painful like how it used to be.” He explained to me briefly and I nodded to him. When we came back to Aurelian city, Lucas transferred from our family doctor to his doctor. He brought the medical reports with him, making it easier for his doctor to follow up on his treatment.“
KATERINA My lips curved into a smile when the familiar smell of herbal tea hit my nostrils, inhaling deeply. The smell made my nerves relaxed and brought me some comfort. Those were some of the good memories that I cherished, reminding me of my childhood.Even though my childhood wasn't all roses, I had this memories that brought a smile on my face whenever I remembered.“You didn't have to go through all the trouble to prepare the tea for me, nanny. You need to rest since you haven't recovered fully from…you know.” I turned my head to look at her and she flashed me a gentle smile, her eyes warm as she looked at me.We were back in my old apartment and nanny was staying with me. God, it felt so good to have her around the house because there was this warmth that she carried around with her. She would be staying with me and I had made the arrangements of her continued treatment, hiring an experienced doctor and therapist.“I thought you would need the tea to help you relax after being
KATERINATWO DAYS LATER “I wish the two of you could stay for a few more days,” My lips curled into a sad smile, my heart aching a little as I stared at Brenda and Logan.I was kinda used to having them around and it was fun. The last two days have been full of laughter, talking about anything and everything.“Don't make me emotional, Katerina. I promised I won’t cry because that will ruin my make-up.” Brenda said, blinking countless times to hold back tears.“Are you sure you don't want to stay in Aurelian city? The weather here is good, you know. Wow, can you look at the sun?”I said, turning to the sun and pretended to be mesmerized sounding convincing and they both laughed.“Nice try, but we're not going to change our mind.” Brenda said, wiping a single teardrop that rolled down her eyes.I pouted upon hearing her resistance, feeling helpless. Even though we had known each other for a few months, there was this twisted bond that we shared.Brenda and Logan decided to go back to th
AUTHOR'S POV“Too hot inside? Man, I didn’t know you still got the moves in you.” A low, throaty growl escaped Lucas's lips when he heard Adam's sarcastic words.Lucas was enjoying the breeze in the small flower garden, hands in the pocket as he looked around, not looking at anything in particular.Adams joined him standing on his right. Slowly, he turned his head to look at his best friend. He didn't miss the grin on his lips. Lucas knew damn well what his remark was all about and there was no way he was going to give him the satisfaction.“Breathing some fresh air. Don't tell me it's a crime.” He countered back, refusing to acknowledge his words.Adams arched his brows at him, silently telling him he didn't believe any single word that came from his mouth. Well, Lucas didn't care that much whether he believed him or not.“Indeed the air out here is so fresh compared to the hot air inside.” Adams teased, earning another growl from Lucas. That was enough confirmation that his earlier
AUTHOR'S POVAll eyes at the table followed David's hand. There was something about how he looked at Katerina. As though all the world around them had disappeared, leaving only the two of them. His eyes were soft, holding the warmth that he only preserved for her. Kate’s lips curved into a sweet smile. She knew that she could always count on David and she was glad to have him in her life.“Thank you,” She whispered, her voice low and full of unspoken emotions. The people at the table exchanged looks but no one said a word.“I think we should celebrate the win.” Lucas’s voice cut through the air, pulling everyone's mind back to the present. If someone looked closely in those blue eyes, unexplainable emotions crossed in them when he stared at David's gentle hand on Katerina's. The emotion was too quick, hard to catch. Lucas knew damn well that he didn't have the right to feel that way. However, he couldn't help it.“Yeah, let's celebrate the win against Stephanie Martinez.” Katerina sa
KATERINA Soft voices and laughter filled the air inside the dining hall. The sweet aroma waffled in the air and wine glasses were filled with the amber liquid. We're back at the big house where we had been staying for the past three days. I looked around the table, my lips curving into a smile. Everyone looked happy and more relaxed compared to how stressful they looked in the morning.Heaving a sigh, I reached for the glass of wine. I couldn't remember when was the last time it felt this good to have dinner. My mind was calm. My soul too. I hadn't felt this way for the longest time.I used the fork to tap on the glass of wine, capturing everyone's attention as they turned their eyes on me.“Sorry for the distraction.” I apologised, darting my eyes around the table and they nodded in silent understanding.“First of all, I would like to thank all of you for sticking around throughout the court hearing. It was…long, tiring-kinda of boring.” I joked.“It was kinda fun to watch Stephanie
