“Let's get a divorce, Elena!” Caleb slammed a document on the table before me, the title boldly written “DIVORCE AGREEMENT.”
My eyes widened with shock, and I was dumbstruck at the sudden statement and sight before me. I felt my lips part for a split second, and my smile instantly turned into nothing but a confused gaze now fixed on my husband, Caleb.
“What did you just say?” I managed to mutter with the energy I was able to summon at that moment.
“Look, this thing isn't working, okay? I can't keep living this way! It's suffocating,” he blurted out harshly, his voice becoming more audible with every second that passed.
“My ex, Isabella, returned, and she has my child… I have been thinking, and as a man, I can't leave her and my child without a father!” he added abruptly, not thinking twice.
“Your ex and a child?” I scoffed in disbelief, my left brow raised in uncertainty. I couldn't believe any of this.
I felt a sharp pang in my chest, my eyes welling up with tears at his words. And just then, it dawned on me.
“Does this have to do with me not having kids since we got married?” My heart tore apart with the attitude he was portraying and I needed to ask, to confirm.
“It has to do with that and more... I fell out of love with you, and I think we need to part ways… so this is definitely the best decision!” he declared, his expression devoid of humour at this moment.
For a second, I would have thought he was joking, but he wasn't. He meant every word he said to me. He had no regrets, he was bold to say every word.
“We have been married for five damn years, Caleb!” I groaned bitterly.
“Doesn't it make sense to you? I had to give up working as a woman and so much just to be with you, and now you suddenly want a divorce because that same ex who left you dry and low came running to you with a child?” I snapped at this moment, my irritation evident as I bit hard on my lower lip.
“I know this is hurtful, but that is my decision! It can't be changed! I can't continue with a shitty mess like you!” he exclaimed nonchalantly.
I felt a sizzling anger deep inside of me, and I wanted to grip him by his neck and snuff the life out of him.
“You couldn't do this at home? Was this why you brought me here then?” I snorted. Here I was, thinking he wanted to make me feel good after so many years of ignoring me.
I felt my heart pounding heavily.
“No… I mean, yes… To get a divorce and to have you meet her.” he let out, making me pause for a second.
“Who?” I asked curiously.
He pointed behind me with a robust smile, and I turned back, and just then, our gazes met.
Isabella Vega was standing right behind me with a sinister look on her face. I couldn't believe it. I was getting divorced by my husband in front of his ex-girlfriend.
With deliberate yet malicious steps, Isabella walked closer to where Caleb was. He stood to his feet and embraced her. Their lips meeting the second he pulled out of her embrace.
I knew they were doing this to make me feel bittered but then, I couldn't hold back the hurt I felt. My fingers clenched tightly, almost piercing through my skin in anger, sadness and regrets.
“See how much we love each other? Why don't you just sign the papers and be on your way.” Caleb spat without hesitation, his eyes piercing deeply into mine as I glared back at him.
If I had known that this would be the case, I definitely would have left him to rot when Isabella left him.
At the realisation that this was over, I darted my gaze to Isabella before I turned back to Caleb.
“Fine! I will sign the divorce papers!” I asserted as I flipped through the papers.
Although I felt hurt, I held back the tears that threatened to trickle down my pained cheeks. My palms still hurting from the sting of my fingers digging into them.
But yet, I could not let them see my pain… Never!
“I am so sorry about this, Elena,” Isabella cooed in my ear beside me the second she got closer.
I turned to her with a contemptuous look and shook my head. She tried to play innocent and cool, but I could see through her.
“Keep that apology to yourself. You wanted him, you have him!” I signed across the lines, angrily gathered the papers, and threw them at Caleb.
He was shocked at my sudden reaction, but I didn't care. I also pulled the ring from my finger and threw it at him too.
“Thank you for liberating me from this trash! You'll suffer worse, Isabella!”
I walked out of their stunned faces and took a deep breath once I was outside. I quickly flagged down a taxi, and once I got in, I called my best friend, Sharon.
“Hey, babes, meet me at the Diners Bar,” I let out abruptly.
“Diners Bar? What's the occasion?” Sharon asked with a smile, and I divulged, “I just got a divorce!” Tears trickled down my pale cheeks, and I dabbed them gently.
“Fuck! That fool left you? I am meeting up with you in a short while.” She ended the call, and I felt an air of uncertainty embrace me.
It was heartbreaking, but I needed to get it off my head. I didn't want to dwell on it for long. I bit hard on my lips to stop the tears.
“Get a hold of yourself, Elena!” My fingers dug into my skin as I tried to control my emotions. I was going to keep acting strong.
By the time I got to the bar, I had snapped out of the gloominess, and I was in a mood to get drunk.
From afar, I saw Sharon walking up to me, all smiles and giggly.
“Elena… the new single bitch in town!” She hugged me and chuckled softly. She was only trying to make me happy.
“Come on, let’s get drunk and wasted tonight!” she giggled, and we walked into the bar, holding hands and laughing mockingly over the marriage situation with Caleb.
While we were drinking, I was beginning to feel drowsy, and my head felt whooped.
I was holding my glass of wine, dancing wildly on the floor, when I mistakenly emptied the drink on a gentleman standing beside me.
“Oh fuck!” I exclaimed in shock, my jaw dropping. “I'm so sorry…” I apologised swiftly.
But when he turned to me, I felt my heart melt like plastic in flames.
“Are you that drunk?” he asked, looking at me with a blank expression. He was neither angry nor happy, and something about him was intriguing.
I could not control the rush of excitement within me; maybe it was a result of the alcohol, but I didn't care. I felt the yearning to have him.
“Are you married?” I inquired unexpectedly, and he shook his head in confusion.
“Are you?” he asked me.
“Nah! I am happily divorced and ready to mingle!” I laughed even more and threw myself at him for a dance.
“You seem to be in your element,” the gentleman whispered in my ear, and I brushed my face against his bearded jaw.
Something about him kept me wanting to be flirtatious with him. After all, I wasn't married anymore. I could do whatever I wanted and this was the best thing to do.
I needed to drown out my pain, my sorrows, my sadness. I needed to let it all out.
“You seem interesting… would you like to be a contract wife for just a year?” he probed, his eyes glistening with desire.
“A contract wife? Am I gonna get paid?” I questioned with a witty smile, and he nodded.
He seemed serious, and I thought it was a joke.
“Am I gonna get laid too?” I leaned into his ear as I whispered. I suddenly felt the urge to be naughty with him.
He seemed taken aback and shook his head with laughter.
“You really are a piece of work, aren't you?”
“I am serious. I cannot let that fine body of yours get away from me tonight.” I bit my lower lip as I spoke seductively.
“You are serious, aren't you?”
“Of course!” I replied with a shrieking voice and an excitement I cannot describe. “And guess what? If you say yes, I will sign the divorce papers too.” I chuckled drunkenly.
“Are you sure about your decision?” he asked again, tucking my hair behind my ear.
“Once you do this, I can't let go of you! You will be mine for as long as I say so.” he said with a deep tone that sent shivers running down my spine.
I brought my lips closer to his and brushed them against his, “I know what it means. Just say yes… and fuck me.”
I could see desire in his eyes, and I was already intensely in need of his touch. I wasn't sure where Sharon was, but she was okay.
“Let’s sign the marriage contract then, shall we?” It was a joke, and I was certain of it, but in the meantime, I loved the fun of it.
I took the pen from him and cursed my signature on every line, flirting with him as I did.
The fragrance of his perfume kept me stuck to him, and I found myself wanting him even more.
He lifted me in his arms, his firm arms pressing my butt, and I felt needy for him. I snuggled up to his neck and ran my tongue over it.
“You are quite slutty, and I like that,” his deep voice hoarse, and I kicked my legs in the air in pure excitement.
At that moment, I could barely remember that I was once married. All I wanted was to be consumed by this gorgeous gentleman.
He took me to his VIP room, and he didn't hesitate to lead me to his bed. I dropped effortlessly on the king-sized bed, my vision becoming blurry.
I shook my head, trying to get a hold of myself but it was difficult. I felt the need to feel his touch all over my skin and even worse, I was about to be fucked by a stranger I knew nothing about.
As he stood by the bed, he began to unbutton his black shirt. Slowly, he slipped it off and tossed it to the ground, revealing his chiselled muscles.
His body was a work of art, and I couldn't tear my eyes away. He was undeniably attractive, and every part of me wanted to have him.
The sight of his bare chest made my heart race faster, and I felt a burning desire to touch him, to feel his skin against mine.
He climbed onto the bed with a slow, deliberate move, his movements controlled. His sexy form towered above me, creating an intense sense of anticipation.
His eyes locked onto mine, piercing deeply as if he could see into the depths of my soul.
“I ask you again, dear Elena Jones… is this what you want?” His raspy voice rang in my ears, sending electrifying sensations down my spine.
Each word he spoke seemed to vibrate through my entire body, igniting a fire within me that I hadn't felt in years.
“Yes! I want you, make me yours!” I declared, my voice filled with desperate longing.
My hand reached out and wrapped around his hot body, feeling the heat radiating from his skin.
The touch of his muscles beneath my fingers was intoxicating.
Gosh! It was so alluring that I couldn't help but lick my lips, my desire for him growing with each passing second.
My only regret was that I was drunk, but at that moment, I didn't care. I wanted him more than I had wanted anything in a long time.
I couldn't believe I had been missing all this because of Caleb.
The thought of my ex-husband flickered briefly in my mind, but it was quickly overshadowed by the overwhelming desire I felt for this man.
I had spent years feeling unloved and unwanted, but now, in this moment, I felt alive again.
“Fuck me!” I whispered seductively, revealing my deep urge for him. My voice was husky with need, and I knew he could sense my desperation.
He leaned closer to my neck, his warm breath hitting my skin roughly as he nibbled on my lower ear. The sensation sent shivers down my spine, and I arched my back, pressing myself closer to him.
I felt his lips trail down my neck, leaving a trail of burning desire in me.
“Make me yours,” I repeated, my voice trembling with anticipation.
He responded with a low growl, his hands tightening around me as he continued to touch my body.
A soft moan immediately left my lips as I felt it. I wanted more.
“Remember, you are mine now, and there's no going back!” he growled, his voice rough and possessive.
His words sent a shiver down my spine, and before I could respond, he snatched my lips in an intense, fiery kiss.
Caspian's POVThe second my name escapes his lips, I couldn't help but find Alec's blazing eyes glaring right at where I was seated. If he had his way, I was certain he would walk up to me to confront me.But because he had a reputation to keep, he needed to act calm and relaxed. He held back, his fists clenching tightly on both sides.“Scared I beat you to your game, huh?” I muttered, his eyes clearly reading my lips as his glare became more fierce.I smirked. I loved that look on his face.At that moment, one of the investors asked again, his tone loud and sharp, “How do we believe this? How do we believe you aren't lying to us just now?”What was he thinking? That I had bribed the lawyer just as Alec did? I wasn't that way. Instead of delaying, I get straight to the point no matter what the situation could be.“I am not lying, young man, and I have proof showing that Mr. Caspian is the true owner of the company and everything under Mr. Night's name!”He let out, his hand lifting to
Caspian's POV. I didn’t care who was watching as Elena’s soft hand pressed exactly where I wanted it; right over the thick bulge in my pants. I held her hand there, firm and steady, letting her feel the effect she had on me. Her mouth tasted sweet, her lips still clinging to mine as we kissed like we were all alone, even though we sat right there in the middle of the hall. The lights were low, Caleb still speaking slightly in the background as people were in their seats. But all I could focus on was her; my squishy.I pulled away slowly, still close enough to feel her breath on my lips. Her eyes blinked wide, maybe surprised, but not embarrassed. Not shy. We didn't plan this part but I had to do it seeing how stupid Caleb was becoming. He made Elena feel less. I couldn't let that happen. Not when I was with her. She looked at me like she was trying to understand what had just happened; like she was trying to decide if she wanted to leave me or pull me in for more.I leaned in, wipe
Caspian's POVHANDOVER DAY:Pushing the door open, I was met with the hot and sexy sight of Elena putting on a black dinner gown that had a slit in front. It was slitted to her thighs, which drew me in as I scanned her curves. With a smile on her lips, she walked closer to where I stood, her arms wrapping around my neck as she leaned closer to my face.“Are you sure you want me to be by your side today? 'Cause last night, you didn't hesitate to leave the room when Nathan called.”I placed my arms around her slender waist and pulled her closer to myself. “Trust me, Squishy, I've never wanted anything more than this.” I grinned vilely, my sinister plans building up in my head.I couldn't wait to see the expression on Caleb's face when he finds out that he isn't the true heir to a multi-billion-dollar company—when he finds out that his father had forced his way in.He divorced Elena thinking he had won? What a joke he was. Today, I was going to take everything that made him think highly
Caspian's POVDriving through the thick darkness that enveloped the area, I couldn't help but want to get to one place: the address which Nathan had sent to me. I was going to meet up with the lawyer and discuss with him like a man should.Unless he planned on messing things up for himself, then surely, I wasn't going to be blamed. With my fingers tightening around the wheel, I stepped hard on the accelerator, which propelled the car forward at a faster pace.It wasn't far from where I was leaving, so before an hour's time, I arrived at the destination. The car came to a halt before I climbed out of it and was welcomed by the sight of an old, rusty building with broken windows and weary wood. It wasn't nice from the look of things, but it was perfect.Perfect enough to get the truth out of the lawyer's mouth. Without hesitation, I walked into the building, the weak door creaking loudly as I opened it. Everywhere was dark inside the building until I caught the sharp sight of light pene
Caspian's POVThe moment the lawyer read the latter part of the will, I couldn't help but notice the sudden joy that filled the living room. Alec and Caleb jumped up from their seats in excitement, hugging each other.Just as I had expected; they were up to no good. They had clearly tricked me and taken everything that belonged to my father, leaving nothing for me. Unknowingly to them, I was the smart one and wasn’t going to let my guard down, not yet.Just as I was still trying to piece it all together, the lawyer grabbed his suitcase and stood up from the couch, ready to leave the mansion, but my next words halted him right on track.“Leaving already?”He turned to me, “Yes, Mr. Caspian. That’s all for now.” He bowed his head, ready to take another step forward, but I wasn’t done.“Are you certain about that, dear lawyer? Because last time I checked, I didn’t hear you call my name or give anything to me. Not even the company.”Tension and fear filled the air at my words, Alec and Ca
Caspian's POV.“Hello brother?” Alec scoffed as he stared at me in fear. They weren’t expecting to see me arrive before them on such a day, I bet. “Have you come here to cause more havoc?” he added, his fingers clenched.I snorted as I walked over to the window in the living room, my hand dipping into my pocket as I fixed my eyes outside the mansion. I caught sight of Nathan making their so-called security guard chew on grass, and it made me laugh.“What’s funny, Caspian?” Caleb, the so-called little brat, asked, calling me by my name, which instinctively infuriated me.“I beg your pardon? It’s ‘Uncle’ to you, little twerp.”“He’ll only call you that if you deserve it. Now, why are you here?” Alec asked once more, making me shake my head in utmost disappointment. Was he being serious now? I mean, they were about to share the properties that belonged to my father secretly, and here they were, asking me why I was in the mansion? Well, since they wanted a response, that was what I was go
Caspian's POVButtoning my suit jacket as I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel a wave of rage coursing through my veins. My father's last words still echoed in my mind—how he had warned me not to trust anyone in the Nightingale family. He wasn't beating about the bush after all. There was every possibility that they were clearly the reason behind his death. They caused his death, and right now, they were going to share everything that belonged to him.I didn't care about his wealth; I had mine. What I wanted was the last remains of my mother, and until I got a hold of that, none of them in the Nightingale family was going to leave my tracks.Once I was done dressing in my black Italian suit and designer's shoes, I walked out of the room. I was heading back to the Nightingale mansion. Luckily, Elena had left earlier on to go get some groceries. This was my chance to leave.“Boss.” Nathan bowed slightly at the sight of me exiting the room with a rugged autho
Caspian's POVHer breath hitched the moment my lips touched her skin. She stood still, almost trembling, like she didn’t know what to do—but I did.I tilted her chin up with one hand, making her look into my eyes. “Don’t hide from me, Squishy,” I said softly but firmly. “Not now… not when I’ve been dying to touch you.”Her lips parted, but no words came out. She didn’t have to say anything—her eyes told me everything. She wanted this just as badly as I did.I slid my hand down her back, feeling the warmth of her skin through the damp towel. Then, slowly, I tugged at the edge of it.The towel slipped from her body, falling to the floor without a sound. She gasped, but I caught her before she could step back. “No,” I whispered, pulling her closer until our bodies touched, skin against skin. “You don’t run from me. Not now.”I picked her up easily, her legs wrapping around my waist like it was second nature. Her arms clung to my shoulders, her breath shaky and hot against my neck.“You b
Caspian's POV.Her hand, soft and gentle, remained on my face, her words making me feel at ease. They were more soothing than I could have ever imagined. No one had shown me this much care in a long while. It all reminded me of my mother.I wasn't sure if it was real or if she was still seeing me as a pawn, but her words had melted my pain and drained the frustration I felt from speaking to my brother and his silly son in there.I wanted to keep this feeling, and I was going to do it.I nodded twice, with a faint but bitter smile on my lips. “I won't disappoint you, Squishy,” I assured her, my hand reaching out and squeezing hers firmly.“I trust you,” she muttered to me.How could she trust me when my plan was to use her? Was she always this easy, or was there something I was missing? After a few seconds of staring at her, I turned my attention to Nathan, who was holding the steering wheel of the vehicle in his grip.“Did you get any information from anyone at the event today?” I ask
