Philip

“How the hell did you even find me?” Olivia’s voice was sharp enough to cut glass. She stood in the doorway, arms braced against the frame, irritation practically radiating off her.

“Olivia… please,” I softened my tone, lowering my eyes like I was some broken man crawling back to the only woman who ever mattered. “We need to talk.”

Her brows arched. “Talk? Or stalk? Which is it, Philip?” She folded her arms across her chest, shoulders squared.

I forced a deep breath, slipping into the role Julian demanded I play. “I came because I heard about your parents. I… I wanted to be there for the funeral. I’m so sorry, Olivia.” I let my voice tremble, as if sorrow was squeezing it from my throat.

But before I could even finish my performance, her laugh, cold, hollow, and utterly humorless—echoed through the small apartment. “Save it. What are you really doing here?”

For a second, heat licked at the back of my neck. Damn her. She wasn’t falling for the act. She never made it easy,

Sebastian I turned to walk away, but she wouldn’t release me. Her grip on my arm tightened, and when I faced her again, she yanked me in without hesitation, her mouth slamming against mine. The kiss wasn’t sweet or careful. It was fierce. Urgent. Desperate. A storm we had both been holding inside, finally breaking free. Her fists clung to the front of my shirt, torn between dragging me closer or shoving me away. i didn’t hesitate. My arms wrapped around her waist like chains, pulling her flush against me, as if pressing her to my body could erase all the nights I had suffered without her. I kissed her like a man who’d been drowning too long, like breaking the surface was the only thing keeping me alive. Because maybe this was the last chance I’d get. She tasted of salt, of tears and pain, of a love that refused to die even after being buried alive. Her fingers curled in my hair, frantic, and my hand slid up the line of her spine, gripping her like she was the last thing tetherin

Olivia I locked myself inside that room for the rest of the day. I didn’t want to eat, didn’t want to talk, didn’t want to breathe in the same air he was breathing. The second I laid eyes on him again, it was like every wound I’d stitched closed ripped wide open. And every single thing that came out of his mouth? Riddles. Half-truths. Empty promises wrapped in that calm voice I used to crave. God, he left me feeling like I was drowning. I wanted so badly to tell myself he was lying, that all of this was just Sebastian’s way of crawling back into my life. But something about the way he looked at me… it wasn’t the same as before. And that terrified me more than the anger I’d been clinging to. Because if he was telling the truth—if all of this pain had some twisted reason behind it—then what the hell did that make me? A fool? A victim? Or worse… someone who might still love him? And yet, I couldn’t stop remembering. When I was kidnapped, the second Sebastian showed up, I was sudd

Sebastian “Olivia,” the lawyer called after her, but she was already gone, storming down the corridor like the very air inside that room had turned poisonous. “I’ll get her,” Lucas said, halfway out of his chair. I rose at the same time, cutting him off with a hand to his arm. “No. Let me.” He gave me a look, skeptical and sharp, but after a moment, he sat back down. Maybe he wanted me to make a fool of myself. Maybe he knew this was a disaster waiting to happen. But I didn’t care. She was mine to go after, even if she hated me for it. Especially if she hated me for it. My steps echoed against the marble floor as I followed the trail of her anger through the Dravenport mansion. Every hallway smelled faintly of polished wood and old memories. Every door we passed used to hold a piece of her laughter. The silence now was unbearable. When I reached the balcony, she was there—her back to me, arms gripping the railing like it was the only thing keeping her upright. The sky stretched

Olivia The conference room smelled faintly of polished wood and old leather, the kind of scent that clung to law offices and made them feel more like tombs than workplaces. My parents’ portraits hung on the far wall, their eyes following me even in death, and for a second, I wished I could crawl right into the canvas and ask them why. I sat stiffly at the long mahogany table, every muscle locked in place, my palms sweating against Lucas’s hand. He sat beside me, steady as ever, thumb brushing over my knuckles like he was trying to remind me I wasn’t alone. God, I needed him. Without his presence, I probably would have bolted. The lawyer cleared his throat. His voice was flat, professional, but it still sliced through the silence. “Miss Davenport.” “Yes?” My voice cracked. I blinked hard, forcing myself to pay attention, even though my brain had already filled in the blanks. I was their only child. Of course everything would come to me. He adjusted his spectacles, his face pinche

    – Sebastian I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the knot of my tie like it mattered. My hair was slicked back perfectly, my suit pressed to perfection. If someone walked in right now, they would probably say I looked like the very definition of elegance. But the truth stared right back at me through hollow eyes. I looked like a corpse wrapped in silk. My skin was pale, the kind of pale that came from too many sleepless nights and too much whiskey burning its way down my throat. My reflection was a stranger. And tonight, that stranger was expected to smile, shake hands, and sell his soul. The door creaked open. I half expected Natasha, dripping in perfume and pretense, but instead Julian strolled in, already smug like he owned the air I was breathing. “The party has started downstairs,” he said, his tone annoyingly casual. “Or do you plan on sulking in here all night? After all, it is your engagement day.” I didn’t even bother turning to look at him. My voice came out cold
