☆☆SUMMER'S POV☆☆

The breeze cut through the trees like a warning I couldn’t escape from even if I tried. I didn’t have to turn around to see who it was. My spine knew him first. That voice soft enough to sound polite, sharp enough to slice skin.

“She said to leave her alone.”

Jake stiffened at my side. He grabbed my wrist. I felt his arm tighten, bone-deep. I turned before he could stop me. And there he was.

Hayden.

Of course it was Hayden. Because why wouldn’t my day get worse? My Soul Snatcher. My final bad idea wearing that grin that said I know exactly how to break you, and you’re going to let me. He smelled like trouble in the daytime and the thing I promised myself I’d never want again.

Too late, nugget.

He didn’t say it out loud. He didn’t have to. His eyes ate me alive and spat me out in pieces. Jake’s voice cut the silence then. Too calm, too casual. It was the kind of calm that could hide a knife behind its back.

“You stalking her now, Hayden?”

Hayden didn’t even glance at h

☆☆SUMMER’S POV☆☆🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹The drive back to Hayden’s apartment feels like drowning in silence, except my brain apparently didn’t get the memo. It is screaming like crazy. The city lights smear across the windows, neon bleeding into shadows like the world is melting—a perfect reflection of my disaster of a life. Everything’s a fucking mess. And surprise, surprise—I’m the common denominator. Again. And again. And again. If I hadn’t been so blinded by Hayden’s sexy hands, his mouth, his everything, maybe Jake wouldn’t have walked in on us fucking. Naked. Entirely, tragically naked. What the actual fuck was that?My best friend. Silent. Staring at me fucking his brother. His eyes wide like a deer caught in the headlights of the most embarrassing moment of my fucking life. If I survive this emotional damage, I deserve an award. Fuck yeah, I deserve a big shiny award.Oh God!Hayden hasn’t said a single word since we left the mansion. I should take that as a good sign. I should shut up. B

♤♤JAKE'S POV♤♤I woke up with a groan. My chest felt tight. My face and entire body were sore. The cafeteria memory flashed through my mind. All I remembered was pain. And Summer.Summer? Where is she? Is she here? I scanned the room frantically. The maid was asleep on the couch. One hand tucked under her head. I tried to move. Every muscle ached. How did I get here? I wondered.I sat upright on the couch, slowly, hands pressed to my chest, heart hammering. I remembered seeing Hayden. He looked like a dream. The only problem was that it wasn’t a dream.Summer’s bag was on the sofa. She was here. I struggled to my feet and staggered upstairs. The maid didn’t even wake. Each movement shot pain up my body. I walked down the corridor. Then I heard it. Soft moans. My stomach dropped. My heart slammed against my ribs.I moved slowly. The sound led me further down the corridor. Step by step. Toward Hayden’s room. I reached for the door. But my hand froze on the knob. Light spilled into the

☆☆SUMMER’S POV☆☆🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹I wish none of this had happened.Maybe if Jake and I hadn’t gone to the cafeteria… maybe he wouldn’t be lying here now, battered and broken, his face bruised and swollen, his body trembling in restless sleep. The doctor said he’d recover… but words don’t always heal wounds. I sit here, my chest tight, staring at him, guilt clawing at me until I feel sick. I just want him better. Trust is; I’m afraid of losing Jake. I don’t wanna lose him. I don’t want to lose Hayden either. And yet, the cruel truth gnaws at me: if keeping Hayden means letting Jake go… I might have to. And that thought alone makes me hate myself. How do I let go of my best friend? And worse of all, I think Tara doesn’t like me anymore. She never said she liked me before or that she didn’t. But at least, she wasn’t this cold.🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹Hayden re-entered the living room. His eyes met mine. He smiled. I gave him a weak smile in return as he walked toward me.“She’s gone,” he announced. “Wan

♡♡HAYDEN'S POV♡♡“Mine.”The word slid out of Jake’s bloody mouth again. His voice was wrecked and shredded. His face was worse. Summer slipped her hand away but he caught her again. In his unconscious state he still wanted her.Her lips trembled, her eyes wide with tears. She didn’t pull away anymore. She didn’t deny his claim either. She stared at him with so much affection. My chest burned.“You heard him, nugget,” I said, my voice low. “Now answer me. Are you his?”She whipped her gaze to me, panic flashing across her face.“Hayden, please—”“Don’t ‘please’ me. Answer.”Her throat bobbed. “He’s delirious. Take a long look at him.”I did. She shook her head and said,“Does he look like he knows what he’s saying? He doesn’t. And you know that.”“That’s not what I asked.” I crouched beside her. My jaw flexed. “Tell me, Summer. Right here. Right now. Are you his?”Jake coughed, groaning, and tightened his weak hold on her fingers. “Summer…” His voice cracked into the same cursed word:

☆☆SUMMER'S POV☆☆I fought harder, screaming his name, but the girls held me tighter, dragging me out of the cafe. People just watched—eyes darting away the second mine met theirs. Some looked guilty, others bored, a few even amused. Not one of them moved. I guessed the fraternity and the sorority had made quite the name for themselves.“No! Stop it! Let him go!” I screamed.Outside, they threw Jake onto the pavement. The night air hit him hard. Before he could stand, a kick drove into his ribs. Another fist slammed down. Jake coughed blood onto the sidewalk.Justin stepped forward, towering over him. “This is what happens when nobodies mouth off.” He raised his fist again and brought it down. Jake’s head snapped to the side.“Stop it!” I screamed, hot tears streaking my face. “Please, you’re killing him!”But no one listened. The frat boys laughed, boots connecting with Jake’s stomach, his back, his face. Each hit jolted through me like it landed on my own skin. Feet rained on him li

☆☆SUMMER'S POV☆☆Matteo’s phone buzzed. And that was how the subject about Kat left the chat. Matteo checked his phone. His demeanor instantly changed. I could tell it he was worried about something or someone. “Is everything alright?” I asked. He gave me a small smile. “Group meeting with some friends,” he replied. “ I’ll see you later.”“Sure,” I said, watching him head off.And right on cue, Jake slid in beside me like he’d been waiting. Hood low, eyes sharp.“Come with me. Let’s go eat at the cafeteria.”I laughed under my breath. “Since when do you order me around?”“Since you don’t take care of yourself.” His mouth curled, almost smug. “So I will.”I gave him a look. “And when did you become my nutritionist?”His mouth twitched. I groaned, but followed anyway. The café was right outside the campus. It was loud, students everywhere. We found a corner booth. Jake leaned forward before I’d even set my bag down.“Forget what Tristan said,” he muttered. My eyes narrowed. “Excuse me
