Chapter 1: Nobody

They say you can feel the loneliest in a room full of people.

Tonight, Anna Roberts understood exactly what that meant.

She sat quietly at a round table, surrounded by familiar faces—people she’d shared holidays with, birthdays, charity events—but she had never felt more alone.

Golden chandeliers spilled soft light over the crowd of elites, entrepreneurs, millionaires. Names that opened doors, faces that filled magazine pages.

The decorations were flawless. The air shimmered with perfume and polite laughter. But none of it touched Anna.

Her brown eyes were locked on one person: Andy Roberts, her husband.

He stood at the front of the hall, holding a microphone, bathed in spotlight. Behind him, the giant projector glowed with the logo of Power Group—the multimillion-dollar company he’d inherited from his father, Albert Roberts.

“Thank you all for gracing this occasion,” Andy said, flashing that perfect, press-polished smile.

The crowd hushed.

“It brings me immense joy to see this day,” he continued, voice steady, practiced. “It’s been a long journey for Power Group—a ride full of highs and lows. But today…”

He paused. Let the silence speak for him.

“We celebrate fifty years of success.”

Applause rippled through the hall. Champagne glasses clinked. Smiles stretched wide.

Andy basked in it all, standing like a man who had finally claimed his kingdom.

When the noise settled, he went on, emotion laced in every syllable.

“I’m proud of how far I’ve come, carrying my family’s legacy with everything I have. First, I want to thank myself for being strong—for being resilient.”

A soft chuckle swept through the room. Andy chuckled too, charming as ever.

Anna smiled. Despite everything, she was proud of him.

He’ll thank me next, she thought, straightening her soft pink fur coat. She adjusted the little fascinator in her hair, heart fluttering. He has to.

She had been there through it all. The late nights. The failed deals. The hospital visit after his breakdown. The early days when Power Group nearly collapsed.

She was the quiet force behind the man.

Andy looked out across the crowd, sweeping his gaze over the VIP tables.

“A special thanks to my amazing family—my mother, Margaret, and my sisters, Sophie and Adeline. You’ve been my rock.”

Margaret Roberts, cloaked in diamonds, blew a kiss to her son. The light caught every ring on her fingers.

Anna clapped softly, lips pressed in a tight smile.

Maybe next. He’ll mention me next.

Andy moved on—business partners, investors, his leadership team. Everyone who’d played a role.

Everyone but her.

Anna shifted in her seat. A small frown tugged at her lips. Her brow creased.

Had he forgotten?

Then she noticed him scanning the room. Eyes darting, searching.

And then—there it was. That smile.

The one that reached his eyes. That lit up his whole face.

Anna turned to look.

Through the wide double doors walked a woman in a deep red silk gown.

Every head turned.

Her dark curls bounced effortlessly. Her legs, long and lean, moved with a deliberate sway. Around her throat, a necklace sparkled—easily worth more than Anna’s car.

Power. Confidence. Glamour.

Wow, Anna thought. She’s beautiful.

But she wasn’t the only one watching.

The entire room seemed to inhale at once.

“Penelope Kings,” someone at her table whispered.

“The queen of the business world,” another murmured.

“Managing Director of Kings Business Empire,” someone added. “What’s she doing here?”

Anna blinked, unimpressed. She didn’t keep up with corporate royalty. She knew recipes, not rival empires. Her world was family, home, and their son, Aiden.

She turned back to Andy—expecting him to refocus, to continue.

But he was still staring.

Still smiling.

Maybe now, Anna thought. Maybe now he’ll thank me.

But then Andy did something she hadn’t prepared for.

Still holding the mic, he stepped off the stage and walked straight to Penelope.

“I want to say a big thank you to Penelope Kings,” he said warmly, his voice slicing through the quiet. “An outstanding woman who has made all of our recent projects successful.”

Before Anna could process it, Andy leaned in—and kissed Penelope on the cheek.

Anna sat frozen. Her heartbeat roared in her ears.

Am I dreaming? Did my husband just kiss another woman in front of everyone?

It’s just business. Just a friendly peck. Right?

But then Andy looked at Penelope—really looked at her—with a softness Anna hadn’t seen in months.

“I wouldn’t have come this far without you,” he said, eyes locked on hers.

Anna gripped the table. Her fingers trembled. Her chest felt hollow.

No. No, this isn’t happening.

The celebration rolled on. Laughter. Toasts. More applause.

Andy returned to his VIP table. Margaret, Sophie, Adeline, Penelope—they all sat together now. Laughing. Whispering. Clinking glasses like royalty.

Anna sat at her table alone, sinking deeper into silence.

She glanced at Penelope—flawless skin, perfect waist, polished nails.

Then she looked at herself.

Chubby. A soft belly that told the story of motherhood. Full cheeks. Eyes tired from too many late nights and early mornings.

She had never been ashamed of her body. She believed Andy loved her through every change.

But now... doubt cut through her like ice.

She stood.

Quietly at first. Then one step after another, fury and heartbreak guiding her across the hall.

“Andy, can I talk to you for a minute?” she asked, voice calm but shaking slightly.

Andy didn’t turn. Instead, he leaned toward Penelope, laughing softly.

“This gown looks incredible on you,” he told her, like Anna wasn’t even there.

Anna blinked.

Did he just ignore me?

Her jaw clenched. Rage swelled.

She took a breath, then spoke again—louder, firmer.

“Anderson.”

Andy turned.

His eyes were cold.

There was no warmth, no apology—only a warning: Leave.

Anna held her ground.

Penelope raised a brow, looking Anna over like she was scanning a menu.

“Who is she?” Penelope asked sweetly, her voice laced with mock innocence.

Andy didn’t hesitate.

“She’s nobody,” he said.

The words hit harder than a slap.

Anna blinked, stunned.

Nobody.

In that moment—surrounded by crystal glasses, gold chandeliers, and hundreds of people—

Anna didn’t just feel lonely.

She felt inviible.

  • Dear husband I can live without you    Chapter 134: Don't leave me

Anna tightened the drawstrings of her hoodie as she stepped out of her car, her heart beating fast beneath the thick fabric. The late afternoon sun burned faintly through a gray sky, but she barely noticed it. All she felt was the uneasy rhythm of anger and guilt swirling inside her chest. She pulled the hoodie lower over her face. The last thing she needed was anyone recognizing her. In this neighborhood, gossip traveled faster than fire in dry grass. Her fingers hesitated on the doorbell. For a brief moment, she almost turned around. But something—pride, maybe guilt—kept her rooted there. She pressed the bell.Nothing.Anna pressed it again. Then again.Still no answer. She let out a sigh, tried the doorknob, and to her surprise, it turned easily. The door creaked open, and the stench hit her instantly—thick and sour, a mix of alcohol, urine, and stale air that made her gag.“Jesus,” she muttered, pulling her sleeve over her nose. The living room looked like a war zone. Empty bottle

Anna pulled into the gym parking lot, her hands tight on the steering wheel. The lot was already jammed with cars, flashes of polished metal gleaming beneath the morning sun. She had ignored Vivian’s protests, her friend’s voice still echoing in her head: Don’t go out today, Anna. Let the storm pass. But storms didn’t wait for permission to rage. The moment she stepped out of her car, adjusting the strap of her gym bag, a familiar voice pierced through the noise of engines and chattering people. “Miss Anna Marie! Miss Anna Marie!” Anna froze briefly before turning her head. A young media woman in skinny jeans and a blazer was rushing toward her, phone raised, recording already. Anna exhaled and grabbed her water bottle, pretending not to hear. “Miss Anna, is it true that Miss Olivia is your mother?” Her chest tightened, but she didn’t break stride. She walked straight into the gym, ignoring the reporter’s footsteps behind her. Inside, the air smelled of sweat, iron, and disin

“Anna! Anna! You have to see this!”Vivian burst into the room like a storm, waving a tablet in her hand. Her voice carried the kind of urgency that made Anna want to hide under the sheets forever.Anna groaned, her hand rubbing at her temple as she sat up slowly. “Oh God, Viv… I was just starting to enjoy my sleep. Can’t a woman rest in peace for once?”Vivian shot her a pointed look, one brow arched. “Stop rotting in bed and come see the spicy news about you blasting all over the internet.”Anna squinted at her. “Don’t you have a home? Or do you just sleep at people’s houses now?” Her voice was dry, croaky, and laced with sleep.“Whatever,” Vivian waved off the question like a fly and flopped down on the bed beside her. “Here. Look.” She shoved the tablet into Anna’s hands.Anna yawned so hard her jaw cracked. “Vivian, if this is another rumor about me dating someone I’ve never met, I swear—”“Just look at the screen, Sleeping Beauty,” Vivian pouted, crossing her legs on the bed.“A

“Mum?” Anna’s voice trembled the moment Olivia lifted her head. Their eyes met—one pair full of disbelief, the other full of longing.“Anna,” Olivia mouthed, her lips quivering as she began to walk toward her daughter.Anna froze, her throat tightening. “What’s she doing here?” she breathed, her voice breaking like fragile glass.“Who?” Vivian turned to her, confusion lacing her tone.Anna tilted her head toward Olivia’s direction.Vivian’s gasp came sharp and quick. Her eyes went wide as recognition dawned. “Your mum?”“Don’t call that woman my mother,” Anna warned, her voice low and shaking. “She lost that title a long time ago.”Vivian sighed softly, her chest heavy. She understood Anna’s rage. The air between them grew tense as Olivia continued pushing through the small crowd gathered in front of the courthouse, her frail body brushing against curious onlookers and pressmen snapping pictures.Anna’s brows furrowed. “Why is she coming closer?” she muttered. “Let’s get out of here.”

  • Dear husband I can live without you    Chapter 130: I never wanted this fight

“Don’t worry, Anna. You’ll win,” Vivian said, patting her friend’s back. Her voice was firm, but her eyes betrayed the nerves she tried to hide. They stood just outside the courthouse, the morning sun slanting against the marble columns, flashing off the lenses of nearby reporters’ cameras.“Yes, darling,” Gerald added, his hand gently finding Anna’s shoulder. “We’re with you. Barrister Claudia is the best in her field. Just breathe. Everything’s going to be fine.”Anna smiled faintly and leaned up to peck his lips. “Thanks, darling.”The kiss was soft, fleeting — but it was enough to set off a storm.Across the parking lot, Andy froze mid-step the moment he saw them. His blood simmered. His jaw tightened until his teeth ached. Every muscle in his body went rigid, as if anger had turned him to stone.Penelope noticed his sudden halt and snapped, tugging on his sleeve. “What the hell are you staring at?”But then her gaze followed his — and landed on the sight that had gutted him: Anna

  • Dear husband I can live without you    Chapter 129: I couldn't do it .

Anna drew a slow breath before stepping into the office where Ethan Voss and Big Kay were waiting. The heavy glass door clicked behind her, sealing her inside the sleek, chilled room that smelled faintly of leather, espresso, and male perfume.“Finally!” Big Kay’s deep voice burst through the air the moment he saw her. “The queen of the screen herself!”His grin was wide and mischievous, gold rings flashing as he clapped his hands together.Anna smiled softly, her fatigue hidden behind the kind of composure only a woman used to long, chaotic days could carry. “Hi, Kay,” she greeted, polite but calm.“Oh my God—” Big Kay gasped dramatically, rising from his chair. “You’re even more beautiful in person.” He shook her hand with exaggerated awe.“Thanks for the compliment,” she said, her tone gracious though restrained. She took a seat beside Ethan Voss, directly opposite Big Kay, who was grinning like he’d just found his new obsession.“I saw the gifts,” she began, her voice even. “Thank
