OPHELIA

Bone-chilling cold arrests me as Katrina walks me out of the kitchen.

She moves so fast that everything around me passes by with a blur. My legs follow her lead, knowing with her, I will be too weak to even lift a finger.

What was that?

In the midst of the chaos caused by Sir Wicker’s raven, I had yelled–a foolish attempt to stop the bird from getting any closer to me. But somehow, it worked.

Not only did it work but something–something strange—came out of me. A burst of energy. A white mist.

Whatever it was.

So powerful that it shattered the chandelier in the kitchen. And calmed the bird which was causing a ruckus.

My body doesn’t feel like mine. I feel malnourished and horribly thirsty, as though I’ve been starved for days when I clearly had a bountiful lunch some hours ago.

A wave of dizziness hits me and I wince, closing my eyes to mar the pain.

“Should we call the royal physician, Your Majesty?” Katrina’s concerned voice asks.

“No!” I reply immediately. If Henrick hears

  • Deranged Alpha and His Chosen Mate   A Strange Condition

OPHELIAI don’t feel like myself. This feeling…it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I am hyperventilating, struggling to get a proper breath out and the entire Castle feels like it’s spinning beneath my feet.As I step out of the dining room, I rest by the wall to catch my breath. “Are you alright, Your Majesty?” Katrina asks with concern laced in her tone. I don’t want to lie to her but revealing the extent of my condition to her makes me uncertain. I had already frightened her more than needed this afternoon by the display in the kitchen.Having her worried to the point where she might want to disclose anything to Damian may not really work in my favour. Planting a smile on my face, I look up at her. “Oh, yes. Dinner just went down awfully.” The lie comes out effectively. I barely even took a bite of the meal.Katrina stares at me straight in the eye. “But you didn’t have anything to eat, Your Majesty.” I sigh inwardly, forgetting how keenly observant my handmaid is.

  • Deranged Alpha and His Chosen Mate   A Scripted Dinner

DAMIANDinner is supposed to be soothing, simple–the last meal of the day. A time to come together, wrapped in the false sense of normalcy, accompanied by the clink of silverware and spark of night lighting. It is a place to unburden, make merry and perhaps relive each day. Or at least, that is how Sir Wicker prefers dinner to be Right now, it is the total opposite. An aberration of everything he holds dear over the dinner table. And this time, there are two prime culprits–Ophelia and I. Ophelia, it is. For I have nothing against her. Unfortunately she does not share the same lights as I do.She sits across from me, posture straight, hands barely touching her cutlery set. Her plate shows no deduction, remaining in its pristine state as it was served. Her expression is stale, a frozen remnant of a half smile. Almost like she is acting in a rehearsed script. A nod here and there, when spoken and the occasional dry smiles flashed when Sir Wicker makes one of his lame, travel jokes.

  • Deranged Alpha and His Chosen Mate   The Key Who Holds Peace

DAMIANHis words leave me in haunting silence. I am rooted to the spot, for the umpteenth time, the gears in my head turning. My legs tremble and I feel the need to sit. But beyond that, I want a space to myself where I can process all of these things. All of these realizations dawn on me. I swallow, forcing myself to move. Sir wicker stops now, just at the entrance for the backyard doors that allow entrance into the castle, waiting for me. As I move towards him, my mind drifts away. What If I am in over my head? It is the first thought that bangs in, poking holes in my confidence of even being Alpha. I can almost see the elders at the council chambers laughing at me.If Sir Wicker did know about this key, then it falls to reason that they must also know about it. After all, there is the fact that they are elders, presumably more knowledgeable than I am. Yet they never told me. Was this all some sort of wild goose chase? Is this fun to them? Are they having a field day at my ig

  • Deranged Alpha and His Chosen Mate   The Blood Moon Key

DAMIAN “Whoever?” I mutter the word to Sir Wicker who glances at me.“What do you mean by whoever?” I ask him but he shrugs my way instead. His response has me going back to the memory lane. I remember his words to me when we were out of the council chambers–someone inside this palace is plotting against you. Now whoever? Is this all connected? What does Sir Wicker know that I am not aware of? I haven’t even asked him about it. I did not pursue it because Reagan was around. With this new development, would this be an okay time to ask him even with Reagan here? I grind my teeth, swallowing in deliberation at the surging thoughts in my head. Unable to arrive at a conclusion at the questions that plague my mind, I let out a sigh. Choosing to probe further on his words, I edge towards the blind elder. “Who do you mean whoever?” Sir Wicker shrugs, again. “It is as the report says–the pattern changed but in my time out there in the wild and in my travels, this seldom happens unless

  • Deranged Alpha and His Chosen Mate   Calming The Wild Raven

OPHELIARaw anger ticks within me. And I almost want Jade to take over and crush Sabrina’s wrist–maybe then, she won’t be as loud-mouthed as she is now.“That’s fine by me!” Jade growls. But I’m reminded of the consequences of my action. The entire kitchen staff are watching and I can’t go on a rampage no matter how triggered I am. I’m now the Regent Alpha’s mate.I must act accordingly.“Let go of me!” Sabrina yanks my hand from hers and I stumble back with the cookies almost about to fall. Thankfully, my quick reflexes save it from tumbling on the floor.A few steps away, the raven inside the cage stirs. It seems disturbed, ruffling its dark feathers with the yellow eyes staring at the scene.“Everything was peaceful before you came uninvited and interrupted my time here. Just leave me alone, Sabrina.”“I am the acting royal aid!” She spits and I roll my eyes at her. I wonder if as Luna, I have the power to strip her of that role and send her far away from the Castle. Maybe then, we
